I did have a laugh last night. When I last played (during warlords) I was part of a FC (guild).
The FC died. Hard. But here’s the funny thing. Because I logged on, the system promoted me to founder status. The FC had 4 people left. The others left hadn’t logged in for like 4-5 years.
I could have been a jerk and kicked them all out and had a FC consisting of myself but it wasn’t a name I liked.
So I promoted one of them to “boss” and left the FC.
I think it was only Tactics Advance for the Viera, the first Tactics game (… which I’ll admit I’ve never gotten around to) didn’t have any if I recall correctly.
It would be useful, but the very large default inventory and bank space has been VERY handy even without extra retainers. Even myself, who has chronic bag space issues in WoW (even with the Wardrobe system for housing all those transmog appearances), I find myself with ample bag space in FFXIV… though recently having taking to start level up ALL my neglected jobs and gathers/crafters, I have to be careful by staying on top of the weapon tab of the Armoury Chest.
… maybe because there’s less functionally unique gear in FFXIV, but that’s one of those little “devil-in-the-details” sort of things.
Let’s see, it’s something like 35 bag spaces per gear slot in the Armoury Chest (overflow going into the inventory) and 140 bag spaces in your default inventory/backback… plus 140(?) for each of the retainers (2 retainers by default).
That’s a lot of bag space without even having to buy bags for extra space.
And we have up to 200 gear items stored in the Glamour Dresser (removed from inventory and held there for Glamour Plates), and the Armoire which holds only specific items but pretty much takes them out the “bag space equation”.
I have to say, you’re getting more than a little obnoxious here.
Tone it down a bit.
20 sets? Okay, how many uneven levels across classes does it take to obtain that?
Let’s see…
Fending (all tanks)
Healing (all healers)
Maiming (DRG)
Striking (SAM and MNK)
Scouting (NIN)
Aiming (BRD and MCH)
Casting (BLM, SMN, RDM)
Level 50 Casting (BLU)
Gathering (all gathering)
Crafting (all crafting)
In theory, you should be able to get by with 10 sets for all classes including gatherers and crafters; the biggest headache would be the main hand weapon slot because of how it’s linked to class. Beyond that… you should be able to keep it to 12-15 sets taking into account varying level brackets if you haven’t kept the levels even.
… and I’m probably overthinking it somewhat.
Hmm… it’s difficult to say how it will affect things, I’m hoping the data center shift doesn’t affect the quality of the average groups; raiders moving to other data centers should only really affect the upper end of things. which can be understandably frustrating.
It may have already started. Seems all the empty plots near my own (Goblet) filled up over the past week for some reason.
I didnt count the exact number of bag slots, I just spitballed a rough number for the inventory. But yeah, plenty of space. Though I’d love an option to organize and auto-stack. Sometimes finding that stack of leather can be a pain.
If there IS an option to organize and auto-stack I haven’t found it.
I actually just gifted a cottage to a friend I met on these forums the other day. If you’re interested in moving to our server I’d be happy to buy you one. I’m sure we’ll have a bunch of plots open up once the move happens, with people migrating off of the Balmung Containment Center.
I mostly just want it to improve the shoddy glamour system. I had to explain glamour to a new player in my group the other day and it was a rough experience lol. Being able to save all of the appearances you obtain and then turn the gear in for seals or whatever would be amazing.
I do appreciate the offer. As I had fun actually setting up my own room when I was in the FC. I’ll have to consider it. I’m not exactly married to my server.
There’s actually 6 of us now, all recruited from these forums except for one, he’s a friend of one of the others. We’re all former WoW players, though. And I totally did name the group “Burnt on WoW” like I planned lol
Nah. So many WoW players are migrating over at this point that the rest can’t afford to segregate them anyway. As long as you’re not a weiner to other players they don’t care.
New MSQ comes out last Tuesday of March. The last one wasn’t that long ago.
I still have a lot of catch up to do. But of course I’d run afoul of being xp capped right now (even if I pre-order, I’d still probably be capped at 50).
So I’m taking the time to level up some of my crafting classes or lower level classes I may want to use.
Yeah unfortunately, you’d have to wait until July if you preordered. Stormblood is 60% off for the EU right now so I’m hoping the US will get that same discount next.
The new NA data center, Crystal, will also have all the current preferred worlds, so most new players to NA will likely be directed there by default.
As for inventory space when leveling multiple jobs, I’d suggest leveling all jobs that share gears first so you can throw away leveling gears once you’re done with them unless you want to keep them for glamour.
If you right click on an item, there is an option to sort, and there is some settings you can set in the options menu.
Don’t forget about palace of the dead, that’s the best way to level up alt classes. As well as squadron dungeons, but I don’t know much about them, never got mine up to that point.
For me, best way to level alt jobs is to just to spam dungeons. You get to use your abilities the way they’re meant to be used and you get gears along the way.
