Given that I was unfairly accused by someone who plays FF14 in this thread of “judging” FF14 players because I basically said that transmogs in that game are immersion breaking and not something I can take seriously - yeah, I’m not surprised you’ve had that experience.
Not to mention, they crossovers FFXIV does is really cool. There’s a Monster Hunter World boss, which actually takes elements from MHW - like you heal the same way you would in MHW. Your support classes can’t heal you. The Nier Automata raid was also awesome as it borrows mechanics from Nier.
I think that figure is a bit deceptive. That metric probably shows total accounts made, I assume.
If you scroll down it shows active player data, and has WoW listed at 3.2 million active users. Which sounds about right if I were to guess. Still, it’s a higher number than FF14 by a million players.
So go play FFXIV.
Good lord, sick of hearing about that stupid game from the trolls here.
To be fair, Shadowlands could end up like Legion too. We never know since we’ve only played 1/4 of the expansion (at most) thus far.
Also, move on and don’t let a game ruin your day. The devs rarely listen to the playerbase and doubt they even read 0.001% of Forum posts (if any at all).
MMOs are a dying genre. FFXIV is new and trendy and can grab the interest of younger players the way WoW can’t but those are also the players who play for a couple months and slowly start leaving. When TBC release hits there will be an influx to Classic and when 9.1 hits, there will be an influx on retail and the numbers will increase putting WoW at the top again. It’s a cycle and the same trends in numbers have repeated the last 10 years in WoW so not sure why this is such a surprise or big news.
FF14 is trash.
Honestly, I really don’t get the appeal.
I agree with this.
The slog through the earlier levels made me quit multiple times before. I finally found enjoyment when I unlocked Red Mage and Samurai because they both feel good even at their unlock level.
Compared to any of the starting jobs, and even in the 40-50 range they still feel really bad.
…
I may or may not have leveled every job to 40-50 and haven’t even touched Heavensward yet. I’m playing the game incredibly weird.
I gave FFXlV a chance, holy crap did I get bored.
Even the intro was way too long for my liking.
I hear they get a free chocobo toaster the more they spam other game forums.
funny if the game is king
Where’s the new PvP that people have been demanding?
Where’s the features that aren’t just another raid or content for RPers?
and importantly
Why haven’t they made Male Viera playable?
Then why are you clicking links that are clearly going to be about FFXIV?
You’re playing yourself.
they’re busy at home taking care of the little bunnies.
No king lives forever.
It’s in line with WoW pricing, but their services are cheaper. It’s $18 for a character transfer, and you can move ALL of your characters from one server to another for the one fee.
They do offer various types of boosts as well, which are also cheaper than WoW.
The MSQ (main story quest) is pretty solid, and will lead you through dungeons while you level. They are required to complete the MSQ. Some of the story quests were hella fun. I don’t like dungeons that much in general, but they’re pretty well made, and the questing feels good.
Once you level through the MSQ, you can level other jobs however you want. Fates (timed world events) or dungeons or Palace of the Dead (Like Torghast, but good.)
You can play really whatever you want and be fairly competitive, but there will always be a top dog, I suppose. Good thing is, you can level all of the jobs on one character and switch as needed if you want, or stick to one or two.
Good as it is, I can’t make myself stick to it. Just missing something for me.
yeah GG wow pretty much, no king rules forever.
Anyway, when are we getting male Viera?
The graphics are awful. It’s like playing a game inside a pop-up book.
I really like FF14, but no addon support is a deal breaker.
I regret to say that in my opinion, the OP as things stand now…is quite correct in his assessment. As many people may have realized by now, this is the main game I play, and at this point, I am not sure what I am going to do about wow when my sub expires here in July, I do see Blizzard taking some steps to reduce the toxicity in this game by banning racial slurs and whatnot, but…for me at least, it may be too little, too late, but time will tell…
But I would like to say this though…not every experience I’ve had in FF14 has been perfect, it’s not ALL roses.
This one time…I was in a free company there, and it just seemed to me every time a new patch came out, if I was wanting help with a new weapon and whatnot, or something they could help me get into the next set of new dungeons, they would demand that I do crazy things like spend my tomestones (points for gear) on materials, but to me, that was counterproductive, as to me the point of farming tomestones was to spend them on gear, to get your gear level up, simple really. When I told them not to worry about it, that I would find my own way in the game, they make this speech about how we all ‘help each other’ and whatnot, but how am I being helped if I am being told to spend my tomestones on crap rather then spending it on stuff that’s useful? See, at that point I was still more invested in wow, so I wasn’t going to spend mats on them, when it was probably taking me a month at that time to cap on my tomestones.
So I simply told the company to not worry about it, I would make my own way, wasn’t long after that, that the guy at the top kicked me out, but he apparently kicked other people out too, so it wasn’t just an issue of me being plainly selfish, last I heard is that their company is now almost dead. Because that company was making me feel that I couldn’t say anything, and to ask for help, then refuse it, was a mistake, so was sort of feeling when a new patch comes out, I had better keep my mouth shut, luckily a guy that had always said yes to tagging along with me for almost any duty unless he was otherwise occupied, made his own company, so I threw myself in with his crew.
I do admit…that the only regret I have is that I couldn’t tell the old company leader all the nasty things I could call him under the sun that I could probably get away with saying if it was on wow, short point is, that what happened to his company of it getting lonelier and quieter was not at all surprising.
My polite response of course was “I regret to inform you, that your services are no longer required” before ditching and throwing myself in with the other guys crew.
But as things stand now, there is one friend I am meeting in person tomorrow that I know does play wow, so I don’t know, I may return, but there are several things that would still make me uncomfortable if it all works out well and I get close them, that would make me hesitant to bring them into my wow world,
For instance, you can add friends of friends on your btag-real id thing, it’s not hard to stalk someone’s toons around if you try hard enough, and the problem is the risk of being followed around and watched constantly, let’s just say the risk of someone coming along and saying bad crap about me, and that negativity getting back to someone I’m close to in real life, let’s just say I don’t want to deal with any of that…
To be fair, some people have told me if someone truly likes you, you should just trust them anyway, and have faith they will take your side on things and support you with everything you are doing…I guess I will just take my own advice that I give people and you know…
Think about it.
No kings reigns forever, he just stabs an elf that stabs a paladin that drops him in hole while the elf turns him into a half DK half vulpera androgynous lich
