I don’t see myself ever returning to FF, but it is odd that one of FF’s great strengths is also a weakness in practice. I’m referring to their wonderfully crafted story.

But that story is hellish to pick back up when you are not into the franchise. So, it’s not the sort of game I could dip in and dip out of as time permitted.

I’m happy for those who enjoy it, but the company would have to change a few things before I’d be willing to support it.

Here to chime in that FFXIV literally caps at a difficulty just above Heroic with obsolete gear dropping from endgame As much as I enjoy 14 I have to say its endgame is terribly bare.

tried FF14. Felt lost and info online is hard to navigate what is out of date. Needs an Icy Veins equivalent badly.

This is true, but if you make a great game, the sub count takes care of itself. The reason FFXIV keeps growing while WoW declines is that their developers focus on making a fun game rather than boosting MAUs. They’ve even stated that they expect players to take breaks from the game during content lulls, and they’re OK with that.

I have been really enjoying FFXIV this past 2 months. I haven’t login to WOW in over two weeks. FFXIV has more rewarding professions. You can craft some pretty powerful gear.

FFXIV is a true MMORPG unlike WOW which has devolve into a lobby base game. 98% of the open world has no point. The 2% remaining is WQ for 35 anima and druid skinning botting in Bastion.

Not really.

The FF14 community site seems to have very few people posting on it. Less than 12 threads responded to within the last hour by a player on their general discussion forum specifically. WoW gets mentioned from time to time, but it’s not spam or anything.
