Well yeah FF14 first patch of an expansion is the main villain and then the content patches are just recycled storylines from previous games. Of course they have to go fast with charactwr introduction.
Yeah, thats why I think ARR does a horrible job presenting itâs combat system to someone whoâs played other MMOs before. It picks up and gets more interesting, but it takes forever to get there.
Itâs so sad. Iâm honestly way, way more hyped to learn about the new Dreadlords than the Jailer. The Jailer is just so forced and honestly just not working at this point. I will say that so far, of everything weâve seen of 9.1, heâs still a failure. Iâm skeptical that 9.2, presumably the patch we kill him, will have enough run-time to flesh the Jailer out into an interesting character that I care about defeating.
guys chill stop looking for hate,
they seem to be making the point that seeing someone running around as a walking pride festival is immersion breaking, a lot of the posts on ffxivâs forums are about this same problem actually, you cant go a day in game without someone asking for the ability to hide someone elseâs xmog.
yes they are judging a fashion sense but not all players.
but to be honest its a pretty annoying thing to deal with, its generally teens wanting to make the âgayest character possibleâ for laughs at the expense of the gay community in game facepalming that they are being set back 20 years in progress of being accepted as normal.
They should add a toggable option for this. Guild Wars 2 can manage it, and thatâs running on a pretty ancient engine for todayâs standards.
I agree, it would hurt no one and allow some player the freedom of traditional fantasy without taking away from the ones that like the wacky
- How does WoW not being at the top deter my enjoyment?
- How is this thread or others like it that is just dumping on WoW and putting FF14 on a pedestal, is suppose to convince me to go to FF14? If anything, it just makes me stay away from there if this is the sort of community iâm gonna be welcomed with.
They hold off on any resource management for your job for way too long imo. A lot of jobs gained their upkeep mechanics in HW, so the moment-to-moment gameplay for at least the first 50 levels is âwalk up to mob, start rotationâ. Itâs no wonder why so many people say they only got to 40-something and stopped because it was boring.
If SE wants to make a better first impression, they should shift it around so the core mechanics of the job are in play by level 50. For example, DRG should be more like: Jump at 30, combo finishers at 35, BotD+GSK at 40, Mirage Dive at 45, Nastrond + LotD at 50. Instead, the 1 minute loop of LotD which is core to the job isnât available until lvl 70. Going through 2 expansions.
Unfortunately, it would be really difficult to make that kind of change because they tied certain skills to the job quest stories.
Is there an option to specialize in whatever class i like to be in or pick the spells? Because being every class in the game sounds boring to me tbh.
Have they revamped their new player experience yet, a la Exileâs Reach? Because I tried to get past the trial and I was bored to tears in moments, and wonât be trying again until they do something about that. If more of my friends played I might buy the boost.
LMAO FFXIV is a horrible mmo. Feels like a bunch of tiny zones all on rails with very little emersion, tons of loading screens, tons of invisible walls, extremely long CDs, etc. But hey, to each is own.
Imagine this. Walking from Goldshire to Stormwind and you see the big gates and the bridge to walk across and all the statues etc. but right when you hit the gates you hit a loading screen and it plops you in the middle of the Trade District. That is what FFXIV does for example in their first big hub you come to with a long walkway but 0 immersion since you hit a loading screen and it places you right in the middle of it. You canât even jump in the water.
Horrible MMO.
Donât forget bunny chicks
After you go to a class trainer you can change classes by equipping a weapon that class uses. Though you do still have level each class individually.
That sounds like it would get confusing, unless every class has a weapon unique only to them.
It really isnât. Just like creating a gear loadout in your character sheet in wow.
I had a similar issue with Guild Wars 2. Every single zone in that game is instanced. It is a little bit immersion breaking, but the zones in that game are a cut above the rest. Easily some of the best zones/environments in the business, so it kinda makes up for the load times.
they do actually, and thereâs gearsets you can save just like in wow and change between them by clicking a button so itâs pretty simple
Have you played much FF14?
I only ask because of the endgame content question
FF 14 DOES have a lot more production effort put into its âendgame contentâ in the form of campaign questing and armor/art design - not to mention that the raid-boss fights have far greater production value then WoW currently has.
As for dungeons FF 14 has 77 currently vs Wow 128 (technically 123) - not surprising given that WoW has been out since 2004 vs FF14 RR from 2013; both MMoâs have low-effort dungeons sprinkled in there (how many Violet-hold type dungeons for example)
I would suggest trying out FF 14 if you believe WoW has more endgame contentâŚWoW has a handful of grinds that do not exist at the end of the Xpack. FF 14 content is generally current regardless.
The Engine for FF 14 is far better graphically then WoW (it should be noted - Blizzard had gone to great lengths to prolong their graphics - but its super limited) WoW is much faster gameplay. FF 14 has a abundance of player involved story questing (sometimes too much) compared to Wow (which is so small that blizzard has to time-gate story questing)
Both have endgame gear-grinds
Again - I would advise giving FF 14 a try as it has much in common with WoW - they are somewhat different games; WoW has become more like FF 14 over the years as the freedom of movement of players has been restricted (removal of flying initially forcing you to walk through pointless valleys; the maw) FF 14 has taken pages from WoW by adding âside-mechanicsâ to their trials (raid-bosses) with stuff like action buttons and such.
I played it since the first expac came outâŚThen off and on after that. Itâs good, but I left due to too much drama (had a stalker, raid group drama, people getting jealous/possessive) Unlike WoW, people tend to gather in Limsa Lominsa (Ulda if you like to erpâŚ) and talk, sit on laps, play concerts, rp, show off etc so you tend to come across way more people. But once you take off that layer of âeveryone is so nice!â you get some really miserable, nasty people there.
A chart that has WoW at 110,000,000 player is kind of suspect in my book.
