Anyway, Blizzard had a lot of potential that has been wasted by stupid decisions such as being a better customization to give all races instead of giving only skin color to humans, and more skin to forsaken because I would think that nobody would realize that that was for political reasons like this year’s Oscars.

Honestly, no. You’re basically reading a screenplay. The questing in FFXIV can barely be called gameplay. For every hour you spend running around reading dialogue, you fight for maybe 10 minutes.

It’s not at all like playing a normal FF game. If you like the story, it works out, but if you don’t, it’s literally one of the worst games you could ever pick up.

Sure, I could see that. But it’s the story, not the game. Most FF games have… gameplay. FFXIV questing is 90% dialogue that stretches on forever and ever. So little actual combat.

sure and the gameplay is good too. combat mechanics are fun, the dps rotations are all fun and involved. so the story was better and the gameplay was also better, imo. doesn’t take much to be more fun than turn-based combat honestly

What gameplay? You can easily spend an hour questing and do nothing but read.

That’s my issue.

Yes, FFXIV has decent endgame and very strong class design. But that doesn’t really matter when you’re reading, not fighting.

the dungeons, raids, trials? literally the same “gameplay” that wow has. the only difference is in 14 you’re at least playing through a coherent story, whereas in wow you’re running pointless fetch quests for 60 levels and trying to figure out what the hell is going on in any given expansion

All i know is I don’t want to do 500 hours of questing from level cap through 20 patches til next level starts. I hate Hildebrand too and being forced to do all that was the worst.

His complaint seems to be that there’s too much dialogue and not enough actual gameplay or combat. Is that the case?

I’m asking because my sub expires in about a week and I’m buying a FF time card to give it a shot for two months while wow is sleepwalking until 9.1.

I just came to the conclusion that if i want to play, i need to get a new account.

I have a software authenticator on the account that’s attached to a phone i haven’t used since 2014. I can’t even give them the removal code that i so painstakingly kept, for some reason, and their support can’t help me(their support is abysmal anyway).

i think there’s a good balance, personally. like i said in my first comment, the focus of the game is the story though, so if that doesn’t interest you i dont know how far you’ll make it into the game. especially since the beginning starts off a bit slow

if you do want to try it though you don’t need to pay anything, it’s free now all the way until level 60. you could play for months without buying a sub or anything

ive heard calling their support on the phone is the way to go, they can remove it for you that way. i imagine youll need to give them some form of personal info from the account

i guess you just need to decide if that cost is worth saving your old account, going off of how much time you had invested into it. if not, start a new one

I found email support, but basing it off prior experience with them, I’m not expecting much. I had the serial number and the removal code. Just nowhere to put it in

Try to use Google Voice. That’s how I made a few calls to the US when I was out of the country.

Think you need a US address to set that up. I have Skype but it still gets annoying and expensive if you’re on hold too long.

I got up to level 53 in FFXIV.

I can’t bring myself to play more after completing A Realm Reborn. The leveling experience burned me out. It was such a drag.

Let me tell you the truth the PVEers and PVPers they just follow the Flavor of the month …those subs do not matter because they will not stay aorund. Belive me once the next WoW expansion comes or once a new MMORPGS comes out they will unsub. However there is one thing that WoW has over FFXIV one that will keep them going when FFXIV is long dead …the Rp community.

Comparing the two WoW has the superior RP community and the RPers are the ones who stick around. Heck RP is what is currently keeping Everquest Afloat. So it is only unless they can form a good quality RP community then FFXIV is volatile at best.

So until FFXIV gains a stable and healthy RP community they will never be my king. For no king can rule in a palace made of cards.
