It’s a lot more social and sociable. What works better for me personally is the better character customisation and the greater range of of clothing styles, with fewer (basically no) restrictions on what you can wear and when you can wear it, the inclusion of purely rp stuff, like umbrellas, and the devs’ delight in responding to the playerbase, where in wow it sometimes feels like the devs are actively trolling their customers.
Its not an “anime” game for starters. Graphics don’t determine anime or not for a video game. And because its a GREAT MMO that listens to its players. Its a very fun and story-focused MMO that put story and a VERY great one 10/10 at that before “unlocked dungeon after hitting level 20! not que up!”, ect and you get flying after completing a zone after 1-2 hours, no timegating.
Community is very friendly and toxicity is rare. You get a chocobo partner you can both ride/fly on and fight alongside with.
I don’t hear a lot of excitement about Classic either, so I doubt it’s that. There’s not much discussion or interest for WoW outside of its userbase, but a lot of people on general gaming forums & reddit recommend FFXIV.
nope, he means Bloodborne because OP thinks Final Fantasy 14 is an anime because it’s made by the japanese, which means that Bloodborne is also an anime since it’s also made by the japanese
as for OP, the game is amazing and has some great fights and stories. all of the classes are amazing and they all have great combat animations that shape the flow of a fight moreso than “hit Mortal Strike and my character does a slightly harder basic attack”
It’s somewhat similar game play to wow with fancier graphics and much more attention to character customization/appearances. The community is mostly the same people who play this game, despite what some fangirls will say, and has it’s good eggs and bad. I personally enjoyed the interactive story telling style but it’s not for everyone. Give the free trial a go if you’re curious. Worst that can happen is it isn’t for you.
I think both MMO’s do some things well, while lack in other areas. For me:
FFXIV has a better written, more cohesive story. Class design is tighter with far less RNG thrown into your rotation. There’s far more engaging and fun content outside of Raids. Crafting is far more engaging and rewarding. The animations for both enemies and the player are a lot more flashy and visually distinct.
WOW has much better PVP. Getting to max level is faster since you can basically just ignore all the story parts entirely. There’s a wider variety of Races to chose from. The classes have a wider variety of fantasy styles to choose from. WOW is slightly more alt-friendly than FFXIV, which makes sense since you can virtually play everything on a single character in FFXIV and don’t need alts.
I kinda feel like PvP in WoW is in a bad place. If I want to get absolutely decimated in PvP, because I’m bad, I go to ESO but I feel like others would go to BDO
In any case, I’d say Berserk has the closer association (may even be an explicit homage) to both Dark Souls and Bloodborne. However, the parallels to Devilman are actually pretty good when you take a look at it.
I’ve tried it in earnest 3 times since it came out (once before ARR) and I just can’t get into it. FFT is one of my favorite games ever, all I ever wanted was a multiplayer game with the FF job system.
And that they did, and I kind of hated it. And for me, I think it was the actual world that felt like a barrier of entry.
It looks pretty and the classes are fun, but the end game is so boring. No mythic + kills it for me, there are no strategies in dungeons either, just pull everything and go, also you’re never out in the world once you’re max level, just stand in town and instance everything…
The story is engaging, their zones tie into each other very well. I love the fact that by the time I finish the story in a Zone, I can fly. The Aether currents are always near to my current path on the story so I’m not going crazy to find every inch of the map to learn the waves.
The progression is character based, so I really love that I can flip from a DPS to Healer on the same character to perform that role. The crafting system is pretty intense - I’m barely level 30 in any of my crafting jobs.
The biggest thing is the community. I’m playing both games currently - more time on FFXIV since I don’t really log into wow anymore but that will change come the expansion (or so I hope).
FF is what WoW used to be during BC-WotLK basically.
Only difference is that FF has a more linear questing story but Blizz did try that with Cata and people didn’t like it in WoW. Which is why it is surprising to see Blizz try to force a linear questing story in BFA.
If Blizz is going to force a linear questing story like they did in BFA they should not break it up into tiny pieces and be so heavily gated.
