FF14 lies?

WoW gave up on the journey and decided to just plop you at endgame with almost zero work.

At least, if you wanted to, you could do the optional old content in XIV with a reasonably good experience. You could do the Level 50, 60, 70 raids. They will be slightly easier, but you still get to do them in a meaningful way that you experience (most of) the mechanics of the fights and everything isn’t two shot.

You can go into optional dungeons, and actually do said dungeons with an auto match-made group (like all content except for Bahamut, Savage and Ultimate) and experience it, as it was in the day.

In WoW? You get a scant few hours to experience 1 expansion of your choice, and even then, you outlevel it even with Chromie Time, before you even get out of one zone. I took a DH to Northrend with CT on, and… well, she’s almost fully leveled, and I did 1 zone (Sholazar Basin).

Weird. I did some of them as WHM myself and I had no trouble?

Because they are awesome transmogs unlike a lot of gear in WoW, lol. Oh, and you know, the raids themselves are fun. And they give you lots of Tomestones. Oh, and the tokens to upgrade tomestone gear.

If you’re an established player, awesome. If you’re a nobody with a 0 raider-io? pfft. Nobody cares about you. You have to please the masses to get invites.

Well, the queues and the fact they had to temporarily disable sales of the game because of newcomers flooding in is hard evidence that a lot of people seem to think XIV is the place to be. If only WoW had that kind of energy, and players loving it so much, eh?

I can’t say that I’ve ever heard, in the last 5+ years, anybody saying “WOW IS AWESOME, COME PLAY WOW!” We’re all just sorta… here… trudging along the treadmill.

If you had played XIV recently, the majority of players adore the game, Yoshi-P, etc. The Cities are filled with players chillin’ and anytime talk about the game comes up, it’s almost always positive (except for the housing system). You go to discord channels, more people going “Yaaaay!” every time new content comes out. Ever seen the plethora of Shadowbringers react to videos on Youtube? They have high like-to-dislike ratios, and the streamers themselves are extremely happy and love the story.

EDIT: Also, Novice Network. My alt is still in there due to her having the Returner status as I had taken a break on her, and NN is always filled with newbies in awe and wonder, gushing about how awesome of an experience they’re having far more often than you hear any kind of complaint against the game. I think I’ve seen one newbie saying he didn’t care about the story (he was a former WoW player lol) while the other newbies were like “Everyone told me ARR is bad, but it’s actually kind of cool!” type stuff.

I remember back at the end of BfA, I checked some of Blizz’s videos of their in-game trailers… they get ratio’d hard, like 70%+ dislikes.

Because they’re actually playing the game, not on the forums or watching streamers.

Sure it can be challenged but it won’t be by a game with a single cat race and a GCD which is 5 secs long .

When WoW had 12 m subs in wrath, the forums still rocked .

Hyperbole.

The GCD isn’t 5 seconds, it’s 2.5 and there are A LOT of ogcds that you commonly use (not long cooldowns) in-between those 2.5 GCDs, and there’s a Haste stat that lowers this too. Every single DPS job in XIV has way more buttons, and more intricate rotations than nearly anything in WoW, the only thing that comes close is WW monk.

Also, not everybody has to be a furry race.

When people talk about the GDC in FF14 its honestly best to just ignore then. The same people will play classic and say its fine meanwhile they will spend 90% of their time auto attacking and never pressing an action.

Yeah, I rolled a Ret on TBC Classic and… oi.

I got to like Level 14? I think? and I’m still waiting for something else to actually do other than seal judge seal judge every 8+ seconds.

Then I pull up the talent tree and see that Crusader Strike is at the very bottom of the tree…

Now I remember why I stopped playing who is now my “main” in Late Vanilla and went to warrior… which was even worse, but at the time I didn’t feel like changing my character again.

I wanted to get her to 70 to prepare for Wrath, but I dunno if I’m ever gonna do that. Might have to just wait for Wrath to actually fix the combat.

I mean, you’d be right if Korthia wasn’t a thing. I’m sure theres some benfits, maybe a xmog or something? I’m purely into M+ so… I don’t pay attention to a whole lot besides that, but I do see a lot of groups being formed in there

I leveled up to 40, and the only time I ever saw anyone in-game, was in a city. I rarely saw people out in the wild. Sure, the ‘new’ areas had quite a few people, but once you moved beyond level 10, the zones turned into single player games.

It’s whatever though. It’s a fun game, but it’s not my cup of tea.

The only reason people kill rares in Korthia, is because they drop research which is needed to upgrade the Korthia gear, which is 90% of the whole point in doing Korthia in the first place. And/or % meter progress. MOST of those rares don’t drop anything note-worthy with just a few dropping pets or mounts.

Have you actually played the game to Level 80?

If you had, you wouldn’t be saying that.

one dropped a cool cosmetic for me today though! but yeah im fully aware of korthia and its purpose.

No, because they’re more active in discords. Only boomers think that forums are still relevant. The people posting on the WoW forums is an incredibly vocal minority of players. At most it’s probably seen an uptick in engagement solely because people are mad about 9.1 and complaining.

Forums haven’t been relevant for ANY game since Reddit, and more recently Discord came to be things. Even prior to those it was always a vocal minority of people using them. Most FF14 players probably aren’t aware they even have forums. Another case of relevance to this, a much more popular game than both, League of Legends. They used to have forums, very few people used them comparatively early on. Later on they overhauled the forums significantly and then shut them down like three years later because more people were using the various subreddits for the game instead of the actual forums. Which even still is a fraction of people playing the game.

The issue is when people like Ravohart come in and decide to dictate for us what we can and can’t like.

Calls us shills, while shilling for SE.

It is the most obnoxious thing people on the forums are doing lately. Like, just go play FF14 if you like it so much. If you don’t like WoW, no skin off my back, you do you, but don’t tell me that I shouldn’t like it either.

Opinions are not facts after all.
