FF14 lies?

I always find it funny when people say the game is packed because wow loot at all the people hanging out in the major cities!

All that does is confirm FF14’s biggest weakness: lack of endgame content.

People are hanging out in the major cities because there is so little to do past your weekly roulettes. It’s a good single player game for the story though (past ARR.)

So was Warcraft for Metzen as well. But then we all know people are prone to burnout.

And I doubt Square wants to shut down FF 14 just because one employee leaves.

If he was even close to burn out he hides it well, the guy has so much passion and energy for the game it’s insane.

If ion and the team had even a 1/4 of his passion people would stop complaining so much.

He’s not allowed to retire.

Joking, of course. But you’re right though. When wow had competent people running things it was the best MMO around. Now the clowns that run it are so obsessed with spreadsheets and metrics they’ve calculated all the fun right out of the game.

I hope this doesn’t happen with 14 but time will tell.

The game has more quality content and much less filler. The game by design was made to be played in cycles and not made for people to spend 40 hours a week on. This is not a flaw but a general philosophy the games content is based on where as wow gives people an endless amount of content that no one really enjoys lol.

Yeah I agree with that. It’s the same as WoW in the third expansion so which is why I made the comparison.

They are the same point where WoW was in Cataclysm except Cataclysm wasn’t that well received.

Yes time will tell if someone like Yoshida follows him or an Ion

This is just handwaving away the fact that FF14 has much less content.

WoW has better raiding, PvP, and actual end game dungeoneering. The stuff no one wants is the endless borrowed power grinds that Blizzard insists on shoving down our throats.

Yea running the same 7 dungeons for 2 years is just the definition of quality content

It’s a bit more exciting than the same dungeons in roulette over and over with gutted class kits thanks to de-leveling. For such a big fan you seem to be blocking that out.

Shadowbringers has more dungeons and raids than Shadowlands, and actually maintains relevancy with older expansion content through roulettes

I don’t trust numbers from mmo population. But there are also no published numbers. So there’s nowhere to know for sure either way.

People just should play what they like and let Blizz or Square worry about the numbers.

Regardless, I don’t see WoW going anywhere. Competition is healthy.

Better than being on a timer with the go go go mentality, then one screw up and the toxicity comes out and the key gets ruined.

Yea M+ is SOOOOO much better. /s

FF14 will always have less content that is just a fact. The main diff is FF14 content is enjoyable and loved by the player base while 90 percent of wow content is hated.

It’s an argument of quality over quantity

WoW has great raids and better PVP, but FFXIV doesn’t have less content. One of the biggest gripes about it before a rework was that ARR had too much content. And even end of expacs have so much story that it’s dozens of quests. There’s up to 80 of them between Heavensward and Stormblood.

And FFXIV has kept class quests.

The sad truth tbh. I forgot SB went hard with raids and trails this expac

to be fair, even going back to the previous expansions Stormblood still ended with more dungeons than BfA, and accounting for Alliance raids, trials, and Omega a comparable amount of raid content

hell, even going back to Legion, a generally favored expansion in WoW, Heavensward still had more dungeons and comparable raid content

Cata had some issues, but honestly, I liked it.

As much as I would love more dungeons than just one mega every expansion, I’d still take that over the FF system

Comparable is stretching it. You had 12 heroic/low mythic level bosses and 2 end mythic level encounters.

we already have 20 bosses that will be low mythic to end mythic.

I’d take the loss of abilities in dungeons to not have to deal with the elitism and toxicity that comes with M+.

I only run guild so I don’t get to see any of that.

In the recent fanfest, Yoshi-P said he intends to direct FF14 for a long time. There’s a huge difference between American and Japan society thought - honor. They have a thing called honor there and its more a concept then a law or anything of that kind. In short, Yoshi-P is highly respected for making FF14 the best RPGMMO and while he could “burnout” anytime, he still loves it too much and he knows the fans love him and it keeps him going.
