I get that. Fair enough!
I mean, 14 is a TRUE FF game. You even get a magitek armor mount (like the one from FF6 which was 3 on the SNES).
So the difference is that in WoW we have to walk to plays and in FF14 we teleport to places more easily.
I don’t see that as a meaningful difference.
I’m a bigger Final Fantasy fan than 90% of these players ever will be.
I’ve played through and loved every moment of all games dating back from Final Fantasy 1 and I have bought Final Fantasy 14 and it’s expansions.
You have zero idea what you’re talking about. I, for one, don’t deny Final Fantasy is better than WoW. But WoW forums ain’t the place to glorify it.
The developers have even said, XIV is a final fantasy game first, an mmo second.
I was wondering about that. That’s awesome they’ve put nods to older FF’s in 14.
And man FF 3 that was an event. I really had to work to convince my mom to spend $80 for that game, lol. I loved it though.
Means enough when it comes to the term “lobby game”
Lobby game to me means that you are in the lobby, get ported to the content, and return right back to the lobby. It comes from games like CoD and battlefield where that is exactly what happens.
There was a bait click article suggesting FF14 had more players based on extremely dubious metrics that conveniently ignored twitch viewership, and a lot of people with an axe to grind against WoW ran with it.
I’ve yet to see anything like that and I frequent VERY populated spots on the daily.
There’s so many nods to old FFs in there its glorious if you’re an FF fan.
The 24 man raid from stormblood was entirely from FFTactics and FF 12
I saw a streamer doing a quest called “The things we do for cheese” and all I could think about was getting the rat tail for job ups in FF1 and excalibur in FF4.
It happens a lot in large hunt trains. Specially at expansion launches when a LOT of people are doing them.
Oh yea, there’s enough nods to many of the previous FF games without it being tacky if that makes sense. When I see something or hear about something I’m like “OH cool!”
That’s fair enough. I’d imagine that’s when the absolute most people are out doing things like that.
It’s only going to get worse too as it becomes more popular, Shadowbringers was their biggest launch so far, and I expect Endwalker to be even bigger, I really hope they at least fix it so it culls players first and not mobs.
I think they’re trying to fix it. I know if it was a problem before it would just get bigger as more and more people flood in.
I mean seeing how they turned around the disaster that was 1.0 around and how they’ve continued to improve over the years, I think its in good hands.
Except… RIP BELTS!
(i kid)
One thing I wish they would take from wow is more interesting gear and not only one 1-2 sets per tier, idk how’d they’d do it though. I think they could really use trinket, or trinket like effects honestly.
For all the popularity that FF 14 has, I think we should remember it’s in it’s 3rd expansion.
When WoW was in Cataclysm or near the end of it, it still had Metzen, Morhaime etc. running a few things at least.
I would be VERY VERY interested to see if FF 14 can keep this level of quality up after Yoshida retires
Haha. I would have been a bit upset by that but belts aren’t glamour items. I played wow for longer than it was fun because I enjoy hunting transmog. Now I believe FF will keep me occupied for YEARS with theirs. I just wish they had a better system than the dresser…
Yoshi-p is only 48 and plans to ride XIV out, it’s his baby.
