FF14 is just a fad. Nothing more

It’s not a fad. Some people just needed a new MMO after so many years of WoW not being developed to their exact taste. This is why multiple games is a good thing for consumers, since it gives us more options to choose from.

I personally don’t think SL is a bad expansion, but I understand some players are unhappy with the direction the game is headed. That’s fine. Everyone has the freedom to an opinion, and if they are unhappy they can choose to play other titles. They’re also allowed to expression their opinion on these forums about what they like and dislike.

My only complaint is the people trying to turn WoW into FF14. I don’t want WoW to become FF14. If I wanted to play FF14, I would go play it again. It’s fine to suggest certain features from other games that might work in this one, but in no way do I want devs to switch their title to appease a foreign group.

FFXIV does PvP the absolute worst of any MMO past or present. But sure.

Even if you arent new theres still quite a bit to do in FFXIV(me for example have been playing pretty persistently and still have things such as: relic grind, crafting, leveling other jobs, farming MGP, and mount farming to name a few). while obviously some of these things can be done in WoW as well but the value of said things are greatly diminished in WoW and its not just new players playing it for sure.

So you don’t vread my actual comnents. Got it. Have fun defing the game

The thing is that WoW turned into Wildstar while FFXIV turned into WoW. Long time players switching from WoW to FFXIV are simply going back to what WoW used to be before they took away leveling, flight, accessible professions, and gear progression through untimed dungeons. No one is trying to turn WoW into FFXIV. We just want WoW to go back to the way it used to be.

Doing only the MSQ and class quests and important blue quests gives you more exp then your character will ever need.

Fad or not, at least square enix is getting my money.

Kind of interesting that people are jumping ship for what is basically a high ish quality WoW clone.

I’m surprised it has taken so many content creators this long to even try FFXIV. The game has been out for years. And it is possible to play and like more than one MMORPG at the same time.

Awww man, look at all these cute little WoW fanboys holding on to the little subs they have left…

You guys are like that fat balding man with a pony tail who’s really desperate to give the impression that, yes, he still does have hair…

Not gonna lie… you just kind of blew my mind here with the Wildstar comment.

mmm nope lol can’t say that I have. These forums, and MMO-Champ are the only place I see FF mentioned but I’ll admit I don’t really look for it elsewhere like Reddit. It’s probably there too. However I think it would need to hit a much highest level before I would label it as

I mean their community is getting harvest moon in November tacked onto an already impressive array of “just for fun” side content. Which alone makes it worth it.

Oh wow. I so wish we’d get content like this in WoW. They just seem to have no interest in developing stuff like this. I will definitely be trying “Harvest Moon” when it comes out.

This actually may be true.

But why in the world will those people come back to WoW? FF14 is superior if you don’t mythic raid.

It’s to be expected, no? I mean it allows people to play in a similar way, that is mostly familiar, despite the differences between the games. That seems more likely to me than that there would be a stampede of everyone to play a game that plays fundamentally differently from WoW.

It’s also very much a “herd mentality” thing. The move of the big streamers effectively gave the herd “permission” to explore along, and with the “safety in numbers”/“credibility” that goes along with doing something at the same time a lot of other people are doing the same thing. These are the types of players who wouldn’t play a fun game that has 50k players on principle – they only play games where there is a critical mass of players and publicity, and so when the streamers moved it gave the herd a comfort level to move as well.

WoW is life. FF is a fad. Makes perfect sense

I think that they probably saw other people playing the game, heard people talking about it, and decided to play it. Much in the same way people flocked to wow when it was released.

But, I mean, if ya want to believe they are all just mindless drones, seeking permission by their streaming messiah then that is fine - it is actually kind of fun.

Imhotep … Imhotep … Imhotep

Yes, the pull of the herd is strong… I can’t resist… Asmongold, his pull is too strong! Noooooo!!!

FF14 is just a fad.

It’s not a fad - it’s a legit game. BUT, the streamers are getting publicity and fresh eyes by people who want to see how they do at new games. Or want to see a reaction video that is by someone they’ve heard of.

I rather expect many of the masses who left for FF will be back to WoW sometime. But some will find other games more to their liking.
