FF is the most boring thing I played

Where wow lacks in engaging story , ff shines. Different games. It’s nice once you decide to slow down and just enjoy the ride in spurts

I just play wow for pvp. Bliz no gives more pvp updates? I no more give money. Simple concept.

Play FF14 for PvE endgame and Wow for pvp end game. Easy concept and fun since you’re not getting burnt out only playing 1 game.

That seems to reward you for max level stuff. I really like the tomestone thing they got going on

Nothing wrong with playing 2 games, in fact XIV is designed around the concept that you’d take breaks and come back to it when new content is released or whenever you’re ready to.

Unlike WoW, that wants you to play indefinitely until you burn yourself out, and tries to keep you playing with the power of FOMO.

Yes, all roulettes (and the content contained therein, which is, 100% of all the game’s instanced content) rewards max-level stuff if you are max level.

Now, granted some of the quicker/easier content doesn’t reward as much but it still gives rewards nonetheless. 12 tomestones isn’t much, but you’re talking about a 5 minute boss fight. Still better than absolutely nothing, or heck, 35 anima, lol.

The best WoW to FF14 comparison video I’ve seen labeled FF14 a RPGMMO, essentially a single player game where you can play with others if you want.

That hit the nail on the head for me and perfectly explained why I only play it for 2 months with every new expansion. Consume the single player story mode, and then get bored with the rest of the content and move on.

The sad truth is, that ARR is the most boring part of the game, and thats what players experience first. I would say stick with it because it does get better, but it seems like you already made your decision. And one way to look at ff14 is that, its a single player game with Multiplayer added to it.

They made ARR 50x better recently.

I really wish people would stop repeating old info. There’s several WoW-to-FFXIV youtubers who are going “wtf? This was actually rather cool” in response to the new ARR.

I never understood this ‘talking bad, combat good’ mentality that gets thrown around.

Killing crap over and over and over and over and over and over is not exactly riveting either. It’s called a grind for a reason. I remember stuff like the super low droprate zhevra hoof quest in classic. No talking to NPCs but wow talk about one boring, tedious slog.

Both can be bad in excess.

A while back they reduced the amount of boring fetch and random quests from ARR which made it a bit less grindy. They know it was a issue and the important thing is they tweaked it to make it work after listening to the community.

If only Blizz would learn this top-tier godlike skill.

As a long time player of ff14, you are correct they made it better by removing a lot of the fetch quests. Youll spend less time in ARR now, but its still the same as it was before. Unless they change something else, that is the only change i recall.

What are the main differences between the updated ARR questline and the original?

There’s a difference between playing a game and watching a boring movie, which is essentially what everything before the expansion is.

“The same as before”? How can you claim that “they made it better by removing a lot of the fetch quests” and then go on to say “it’s the same as before”?

I mean, you’re contradicting yourself.

They removed a lot of the filler quests that didn’t have much impact on the story, like, 30% of the quests cut out, and some quests’ steps reduced to make the quests faster. It was very noticeable when I took an alt through it a few months ago.

An expected take from someone who named their character Likebutton.

There is alot of combat in WoW, but it might seem like it’s just about combat if you don’t spend any time reading the quest text.

Man kind of makes me glad I’m black mage even though Rydia is pretty much my favorite character ever. I’ll get to it eventually.

okay let me rephrase it, the gameplay itself is literally the same still in the early levels. You can remove all the fetch quests, but the gameplay itself WILL still be slow at the beginning.

WoW is an MMO Esports wannabe game. FF is an actually mmoRPG. They are so different that they don’t really belong in the same genera anymore.

You, my friend, have wonderful taste
