The part where it claims to be an MMORPG.
Apples and oranges. Which is better. They are both fruit therefor a direct objective comparison should be made despite the fact that taste is subjective. And of course let’s not forget the fact that one must only enjoy apples OR oranges and not both. OR even more, one is not allowed to prefer grapes to apples and oranges.
WoW and FF are both in the now loosely defined category of mmo. Comparison ends there. As has been stated many times, they are different types of games aimed at different types of players.
Enough with comparative posts please.
sounds like your more interested in a kill sim than an MMORPG.
I’d say SMN/SCH picks up quite nicely for casting jobs.
Great, that’s why I play it. I don’t want to play a game where your character spends most of the time running around talking to NPC’s, that’s super boring.
So what if he is. Is that written somewhere that to be so inclined is illegal or immoral?
So what?!?
And Machinist. Dear God, so many half-GCDs and oGCDs that you are spamming in-between the GCD abilities. It’s rather button-mashy but not absolutely nutso unlike ninja.
And unlike most of the WoW specs I played, there’s more than 5 buttons in the rotation and it isn’t entirely braindead.
Makes sense, I had a difficult time with black mage and didn’t stick with it I figure I’ll wait for the next expansion and reevaluate.
It’s just a shame they have no idea what to do with Summoner lol. The entire rotation completely changes every 10 levels
Nope, not really. I just think it’s pretty funny to call other MMORPG’s boring when they aren’t interested in one and more of just a kill simulator or action game instead.
True. At least its finally getting a gap closer in Endwalker.
I want to like summoner too I hope they work it out.
The fact that you think the alternative to combat is talking to NPCs is very telling of how Blizzard has led you to believe the MMO genre only has room for one kind of playstyle.
It’s not as if the class is bad, just that it’s never how they want it
It also suffers the most from messing up their rotation, your fault or otherwise. Other classes can usually pick right back up where they left off after an unlucky phase transition. Summoner? Shame the boss decided to transition in the middle of your 2 minute long setup phase, looks like you have to start all over…
Play long enough to unlock a samurai and you’ll change your mind.
I love the SAM rotation and the way the abilities interact with each other.
It’s kinda like you do abilities in a certain order to control what kind of finisher you get.
I’m sure FF is a good game, but I don’t like the graphics. They story is a bit meh too.
Different strokes etc.
I love WoW, but FF14 is really good too. I’m level 26 in FF14 now, so far it has been pretty good. I haven’t had many interactions with players, but have done one dungeon (I think it was a dungeon) which everyone seemed to have an AOE for but me.
I’m a complete noob there, and enjoying that. I wandered off in search of a quest to get glamour (transmog) which was a bit of fun for exploring, it reminded me of my earlier days in EverQuest and WoW. Still though, the game feels clunky in combat, there are a ton of invisible walls which annoy me, and I prefer WoW’s art to that of FF14.
Not a lousy game at all, not from what I have experienced - I just like WoW more. If it were not for the subscription fee I could see FF14 as an MMO to fill my time with when I have nothing I want to do in WoW.
And even within the combat, there’s so many activities that you can log on and do right now.
If you log onto WoW, you can…
1). Do open world content (which is very repetitive at times)
2). Q up for one of the what, 8-10 dungeons?
3). Q up for LFR.
4). Do Mythics.
5). Do PvP.
6). Do the current raid (no real point in doing past raids).
That sounds like a lot, until you look at XIV. In XIV, you can…
1). Do any of the roulettes, each of which give relevant rewards that are useful to you at your current level, at max level with everything unlocked, you’re talking 7? Roulettes, and between all of them, there’s more than 100 unique dungeons/fights that you can get. All of them reward you something useful to your character regardless of what level you are.
2). Do side activities, such as the Gold Saucer and its “casino” (which isn’t really a casino, though it has some casino elements there) for aesthetics and stuff.
3). There is PvP though it probably isn’t quite as good as WoW’s. At least it’s way better balanced, so there is that.
4). Crafting/Gathering is far more intricate and developed than WoW’s barebones stuff.
5). Savage Raiding also exists here too. And Ultimate.
Just far more stuff to actually… do in the game.
Wait until you get to the end of the Level 60 content which the free game lets you do. You might feel a bit different once you do.
I agree with this 100%. I didn’t enjoy my time there at all. I deleted it from my computer and said never again.
Bad because when you try another game it seems terrible cause your only adjusted to wow’s fast leveling. Other games put a lot into the lore/questing while wow doesn’t, its just filler for endgame content which is the main content.
As a famous man once said “Its about the journey, not the destination” and its 100% true. When you reach the destination it becomes all so much worse.
