Feedback - Stress Test

First logged on to 16 right at 5 PM EDT into the Valley of Trials and was one of the first people in. I spent a long time fiddling with settings/addons before starting to quest. There were plenty of other players around but absolutely no competition for mobs.

After that server was shut down, I waited maybe 5-8 minutes before logging into 15. Once again it was the Valley of Trials and I zoned in to maybe dozens of characters standing around idle. After fiddling with my settings again, I picked up the quest to kill boars and went running around to do whatever. It was not so crowded after getting away from the questgiver area, but there was certainly a mob spawn issue.

Will be logging back in shortly.

This is nuts. The LAG from looting is so bad, I was frozen in place for over a minute. I decided to try to kill something and see if the loot would just pop into the bags, but as I sat there winding up the most Epic rank 1 Fireball ever (cast time was off the CHARTS!!) I watched a warrior run up and just kill it in front of me. I cant tag mobs and I cant loot. Feels pointless.

I didn’t get to try it with the lower pop servers. When it was left to two, it was horrifically over-crowded. I spent 15 minutes running around looking for a single living boar - just like everyone else. With more servers up, it most likely would have been perfect.

The loot lag is real on server 3, EK side

Rolled on an RP realm to show support for RP realms, got to level 4, almost 5 and it was great, everything was working. There were people, but it wasn’t dead or overcrowded, it was the perfect balance.

Worked great, no lag or disconnects connecting from Europe.

Then you threw a spanner in the works and forced us all on to one of two PVP realms…I guess that was about 2:20pm PDT…both of which are chocker blocked. I don’t want to be on a PVP realm, thanks and yes, yes you can PVP at 15 if you plan to do any exploration of any zones outside of the starter ones. I wanted to go to Ashenvale, at some point visit Southshore.

Hundreds of people stood idle waiting for respawns, literally nothing to do at all but kill critters and spam general chat. Personally, I’m not spending three hours standing there playing spot the difference between 1,000 undead/dwarves/troll/orc face…every zone is overcrowded. Is this some sort of PR stunt to get us on board with sharding, layering, sliding, whatever you’re calling it now?

Terrible experience. Nothing like I remember it, but then you didn’t restrict us to two servers at launch.

Even on the PVP realms with 100+ people there, and connecting from Europe, the latency was fine and no disconnects, other than my manual one to get out of there.

I get that it’s a stress test and you want to force us all onto one or two realms to really let rip on them, but we’re players, not bots or AIs, what do you expect us to do just stand there, play Solitaire in the background? There’s literally nothing to do. There aren’t even any critters to kill. If you want to truly test the stress on the servers, at least make it interesting, people are just going to log in, see there’s nothing to do but idle and get bored and leave the test.

Tried an Orc, a Nelf, a Gnome and an Undead, overcrowded everywhere. Unplayable.

4PM PDT, no change, no mobs to kill, nothing to do, going to bed, will try in the morning and hope you’re all fast asleep haha.

Latency is real good but it appears your server is lagging

To crowded, as in WAY WAY WAY TO CROWDED.
There is no FUN, in standing around waiting on a game to deliver mobs we require to complete quests and level.
To me, this stress test is a total failure, I count over 100 druids all jumping up and down looking for something to do.
If the stress test was to find out how many players it takes to kill the servers, then stress on. IF not, then fix it so we can stress test the server. Standing around logged in, is a stress test of my patience, not the game. ;p

My initial experience with a night elf druid on 15:
Server stability seems great (I only experienced one brief hiccup, no loot lag like early vanilla had). However, I’m getting bottlenecked on the starting area quests because quest mob spawn rates aren’t nearly fast enough to keep up with demand. Classic rules are no shared tags and spells with cast time like Wrath don’t tag a mob until they land, and this is authentic, but I’m not sure I was really all that nostalgic for the early days of spawn camping.

Realm 3 - Made a tauren and there were about 50 people milling/running about in just the little village area. I hung around for about 15 minutes then logged out to make additional characters for the different zones. Made a Forsaken and it kept telling me “Character Error” or some such. Went to a buffering cycle with a message about updating the character list, and stuuuuuuck. I left it for about ten minutes, and came back to it still buffering. Manually alt-tabbed to close it. Logged back in just fine and the character was created, but when I tried to select him it gave me the same buffering, updating message, and got stuck again.

Loot, selling stuff, completing Q. Now Im also just waiting for a spell to go of for 2 mins.

Realm 3 Durotar after the other servers went down. It seemed very overcrowded but perhaps is as expected for a launch? I did have some lag noticeable in combat but otherwise could interact with NPCs and everything fine. Just too many people and not enough spawns.

realm 15, was great, since many people. game ran smooth except for one episode of lag with corresponding looting issues.

Joined several groups to make progress on grinding mobs and quests.

Same feedback as Sidearm above. Realm 15 seems tight. I did experience lag turning in the quest. took 15 seconds for quest to complete. Also about 5 to 6 second lag in picking up next set.

  1. It felt overcrowded on the highly populated pvp realm in northshire. Culdnt do the quests coz mob tagging was very very very difficult. On the medium populated realm it was reasonable.
  2. Didnt move into the 2nd zone so i cant comment.

Server 3: Mulgore
-Significant loot lag
-and vendor lag (edit)

Here’s my experience, limited though it is, thus far (numbered per attempt):

  1. DC’d after roughly one minute while trying to figure out which realm to log into since PvP was the only option
  2. I got to the character screen on Realm 3, tried to create a pally, it spun for a bit and ended up with “error creating character”
  3. I tried another pally, extending the name I used, and now it’s stuck at “Retrieving character list”
  4. I forced closed the app, relaunched, got to the char. screen, and both pallys were present. After roughly 6 min on loading screen, I’m finally in on the first toon I made. Originally I thought this toon failed due to name taken, but that was not the case.

Any updates will be on a new reply to remain current.

Was playing on realm 15, made a night elf (this was about 6pm Eastern). I was wandering around trying to finish the first quest for about 20 minutes before I gave up (Had finished the 4 boars but only had 2/7 night sabers) and figured I’d try something else.

I tried making an undead character on realm 3. It took me about 10 minutes to even create a character. This part was strange. I made one, clicked accept, and waited for a couple minutes. Nothing happened so I hit accept again. It eventually gave me the “That name is not available” error while also throwing me out to the character select screen (normally it would leave you on the character creation screen to try a new name). No characters showed up on the character select screen.
I went to create a character with a different name, and after doing so, clicking accept, and waiting for a few minutes, it succeeded. After the character select screen loaded, I now saw that I had two characters. One that I had just created, and the one that I had previously made with the name that it told me was unavailable. Then upon trying to log in, the bar stuck at 90% for 10+ minutes before I gave up and alt+f4’d. The next attempt to log in succeeded after about 2 minutes, however.

On realm 3. I was able to get in after a long loading screen, no DCs, which is an improvement over earlier stress test experiences. Loot lag is pretty bad though and a pretty competitive fight for mobs.

Was on realm 5, was definitely light but enjoyable. Realm was closed and joined 3…

Took 3x longer to level and was not a great experience. If you are going to go that heavy, please increase spawn rates. After the merge, the zerg was enough to deter folks from even playing.

Most of the servers are showing offline for me. When I get into a server there is severe lag when accepting character creating. I’m getting character creation error and then the program hangs. After a while, the characters get created. I’m trying to log in and the game is hanging. Can’t log it on any character yet.

It looks like there are way way too few servers for the number of players who want to play.
