Feedback - Stress Test

made 4 toons on servers 2 and 12 i think. i got in after the squish so there were only four servers up. starting area in all three ally zones had people everywhere. hard to complete basic quests without a group of some sort at certain points. my rogue and lock took longer than normal to level up, the imp quest was a pain in the …

my brother logged on to just check it out and made a warrior, so i made a pally to follow him around and they leveled really fast despite the crowds. last two days was the most i have logged on to wow in last couple months.

was a blast. chat was even for the most part civil.

then you hit darkshore, lol, didnt see anyone on my rogue. westfall had a decent mix.

of the three starting zones seems like respawn in the northshire zone was best. if it holds will probably make a hooooooman on release.

was a blast tho, and cant wait till the 27th. am hoping they open up the beta a bit tho. would love to play some more.

game was smooth even with all the people, no lag.

only bug i saw was when i was following my brother around. while he picked flowers, we slaughtered some bears and wolves. when we found the quest to kill wolves/bears, it gave us credit for the ones we killed on the way to the lumber area.

pvp server 15, afternoon maybe 6/20 morning 6/21… human ret pally.

  1. it was not too crowded for me but it was crowded. but for a launch day it was perfect size.
  2. it felt desolate in comparison to the first zone though there were a couple other players attending to each quest, it was noticeably different. i chalked it up to larger area and more people making a bee-line to westfall at lvls 6 or 7 let alone 9 or 10 when I was still chilling and questing at the logging camp.

I was on Server 3 and it felt dead. I felt like sharding was happening. I found that as i moved through a zone and would be on the border of changing to a new area, mobs were disappearing. A good example was on the border of Durotar and The Barrens fighting Dreadmaw Crocolisk. I would be mid fight and the Croc would disappear and if I moved into the water, it would reappear still attacking me.

I made a Tauren Druid on ClassicRealm15 and got to Max level. I tanked RFC and got decked out in all green gear! I had ZERO issues with lag, overpopulation (when questing for mobs) and only came across one bug (a centaur that spawned under the ground near Kodobane). Just thought I’d leave the feedback. If launch is this smooth I’m gonna be one happy Cow.

The game is supposed to be an accurate representation of vanilla. Many people are not going to like that.

Not too crowded. Felt good to see lots of people even if it meant slower getting things.

Stormwind was very empty and felt like a ghost town.

I played on ClassicRealm15, played Undead Priest and got to level 9 so far. Had a great time, and I think the “population” in starting zone when the servers opened was fine. It was crowded but to be expected, it’s part of the experience.

In fact it’s the most fun I had for the past 2 years gaming. One thing for sure, I think layering needs to be hard stopped at level 10 or 15 maximum in my opinion, it really does seem to be too much of a change of dynamic for Classic.

Other than that, I know that chances are extremely slim but it would be a hell of a good surprise if the stress test was extended over the weekend!

Realm 12 was fine after getting past the starting area. The starting area was so crowded that I just ground on non-quest mobs until I could get the higher level quests. Maybe bump up the mob spawn timers a little in just the starting areas?

Our guild started on Realm 5 and it was perfect. There were other players but not an over abundance that made tagging quest mobs completely impossible. We switched to Realm 3 afterwards and grouped up to go outside of The Den and even with that upper level mob grinding method there were other groups doing the same. It would seem there needs to be more layers especially in the first few zones until the faster levelers separate themselves or you guys need to take another look at dynamic respawns.

I was playing in server 3. I frist logged aroud 16 pm and played until 23 pm (PT).

  1. It was crowded but not too much, since it was a launch day. It felt like a party to me actually

  2. Dun Morogh was like a party as i said above, but when i moved to Loch Modan it felt empty.

Realm 2:

played 1-5 throughout the day yesterday, and it was a much better experience than I felt on the prevous realm(15). felt like just the perfect amount of people. Once I got to the next zone it felt a bit empty.

Started playing again today at around 12 - 2 pm est, and again it seemed a little empty. There were some quest areas where I’d start seeing anywhere from 2-6 players. It took around 4-6 players for there to be a noticeable difference in doing quest objectives, but it wasn’t bad though. The quests didn’t take too long unless there was bad rng.

It’s been years since I’ve played. I want to start by saying just taking a character to level 15 was awesome. Most fun I’ve had with a video game in a long time. I think I got into WoW originally a little late. I remember BC a little better than vanilla. I think the starting area is a little congested but that makes it fun getting out of the gate. I started in Trisfal Glades (undead), once I made it down to Brill and a day later I feel like people were spread out. I see people not wanting “layering and sharding” (hopefully I have my terminology correct). I think it’s cool to keep everyone together on one server, but I also suspect many challenges come with that. I guess you need to do what’s best but I think getting out of the gate was fun even if it is a challenge to get through the first 5-10 quests.

I believe I was on realm 15

The stress test was good but during day 1 launch, the starter zones were difficult to level in due to high pop. During the transition to slightly higher zones ergo Westfall, there was a noticeable absence of people. leveling felt lonely but still doable when you layered with someone when you grouped up. There were some glitches with people being feared through the environment during WSG and the occasional phased mob in a tree during combat.
Other than that, I throughly enjoyed my time playing the stress test and can’t wait for release!

Hi Kaivax,

Some feedback I have noted down as a player from QLD, Australia. From the beginning it was clear these 4 servers were US servers.

Server 12 PvE- MS 220-230
Horde
20/06/19 - Undead Start area -
Found a group quickly was easy to quest, not as many people around as in the first test, Much better.

Horde
21/06/19 12:55AM Realm Time
Levelling and Questing in Tirisfal was good, ran past a few other groups questing, did not cause any issues though.

22/06/19 1:33PM Realm Time
Horde - Orc Area - 257-259 MS
Ping is worse during this time, more players around. (daytime US)

Server 3 PvP - MS 220
Horde
21/06/19 12:55AM Realm Time
Very similar/identical to Server 12 in terms of ping/ms. However, very few people around in Valley of Trials at least, quiet General chat (insufficient Chuck Norris referrences)

Server 15 PvP - MS 229-230
Horde - Orc
21/06/19 12:57AM Realm Time
Enough people - not super crowded 12:58AM Realm Time

Server 2 PvE- MS 191
Horde - Orc
21/06/19
Much better more people, but not so many that it’s too crowded in VoT starting area.
Game play is more smooth in terms of ping, not incredible though. I would still hate to have this ping as an Australian at launch, I would feel like I’m less important as player to Blizz.

SUMMARY
Overall, my biggest complaint would be that there is enough lag between abilities/weapon swings to make the experience worse. Pickpocketing on my rogue was especially horrible and would rarely work. Backstab mechanic was always delayed or hard to pull-off.

Can’t wait to play more.

I was on realm 15 (the most crowded realm I could find), at precisely the 2:00p.m. starting as a Human Warlock In Northshire. It was not too crowded. Or to be more precise, I was still able to do the quests even though it took longer than normal and I didn’t feel put-out or anything. The crowds were part of the fun! Figuring out how to tag the mobs, chasing after stuff, looking around. Quite a few people just power-leveled to 5 and left for the main zone ASAP but I stayed and did most of the quests.

Going into the second zone, Elwynn Forest, perhaps an hour later, there were fewer crowds because people had more quests to do and could spread out. Of course the Fargodeep Mine was probably the most crowded. I think I did notice some sharding or phasing in the mine while camped for Goldtooth. But again, the crowds were manageable and it did prompt people to group-up for Goldtooth. The crowds also prompted people to look around for the mobs, I saw players questing fairly far-afield from the more easily accessed areas.

On the second day in the morning (8:00 a.m. pst on the second day) I started on a dwarf hunter in Dun Morogh. The starting zone was also very crowded, but not as crowded as the much smaller starting zone on the first day.

This zone turned out to be a bit more difficult, particularly for a hunter trying to do the hunter quests because the whole zone was one big killing field. There were a few complaints on the /1 zone channel. I again did most of the quests + the hunter pet quests and I thought it was fine. It forced players to actually look around the map for things and again go further afield than they normally would. I had to go all around the map to get my hunter quests done but I did not consider it to be a problem.

Once I got into Westfall or Lakeshire, or the main zone near IF, it wasn’t a problem.

Unrelated to the crowds, I am assuming that Blizzard knows the pet management is all messed up. On my warlock, Aggressive mode seems to work ok, but defensive mode absolutely doesn’t (I’m fairly sure I recall the pet ought to attack when I attack or when I am attacked, not just when I am attacked which is the modern game). Also in passive mode, the pet kept returning to my side when I ordered it to attack something. And, finally, my pets would not stay on the target I told them to attack. They were constantly switching targets in reaction to what I was doing and that absolutely did NOT happen in classic. Also, in classic, the pets had a real aggro table… you could queue mob kill order in reverse and they would stick to it. That might be too hard for Blizzard to recreate but… that’s how it worked. In addition, the pets don’t react to attack commands for 1-2 seconds… in vanilla they reacted to commands immediately.

So the pet controls need a lot of work.

Realm 2 Orc starting zone had way too many players in it to start, must have
counted 30 trolls killing boars and over 40 orcs doing the same, tough to
finish quests for about 3 hours after start.

Other zones after leaving the starting zones were not so bad, not nearly as
many players there, probably could have used more players in fact at that
point.

Overall it worked pretty good, some glitches in the layering where a mob I
was attacking just up and disappeared to appear a minute later with a hunter
standing over the kill instead of me. Weird but expected. Thanks for the test
time was wonderful to be home again.

Classic Realm 15.

Starting Zones felt about right in the evening. In the secondary zone I felt like there should be more people around.

Had fun! Excited for the release!

realm 3
4:30 - 5:15 pm est

lvls 1-4
Felt almost completely empty. Saw maybe a total of 7 people around the whole area.

At 1 point all my mobs disappeared, and new ones appeared, but that shard(layer?) was also almost completely empty.

Server 3 @ 6:30pdt Northshire.

It was delightfully crowded. Found plenty of groups. Otherwise there would be too much competition for quest targets. Overall I’d say it was well balanced.

However, for most of the test later, in various starting zones, it felt a bit like a dead server (or ghost town). Rarely encountered other players, rarely grouped.

  1. starting zone was rough, but expected.
  2. next zone over felt sorta empty, but i did manage to get through the bottle neck early.
