TEST RESULTS = FRUSTRATING AND ANNOYING
Time: 8:30 PST
Test Realm #2
Zone: Northshire Abbey
Character: Human Mage
Population: Low (per server screen)
Very frustrating, fighting for tags is an impossible and annoying task. There are like 50 people trying to fight kobolds and defias another 50. You can spend 10 to 20 minutes not getting a tag and can’t proceed with the quest.
Recommendation: Improve spawn rates in the lvl 1-6 zones. You literally can’t fight anything, it’s just camped. There is no alternative zone to go walk and fight, everything outside of the zone is lvl 5+, and you can’t fight that at lvl 2.
I did not move to second zone, will try again later maybe. Had to take a break.
Would attach screenshot, but no screenshots available on website.
On a positive note, graphics look cool.
Weird bug: Critter deer were level 5, not lvl 1 (although 1 hp)
On the low pop server it was fine,i mage great progress in about 15 minute before you closed them.
I then moved to server 15 and oh boy,it took me 1h30 to be at the same point as i was 15 minute into the other realm.
Having to wait endlessly for monster spawn and havin class with ranged ability steal them from you Paladin here is totally not enjoyable
Didn’t make it to second zone, left out of annoyance in the defias field
I initially played on realm 12 when all the realms first came up then moved to 3 then 15 when all the other realms were taken down. All in human starting area
Realm 12 was doable but I was still looking at over 20 people waiting around for kobolds alone.
Realm 3 was even worse. Not only was every kobold dead but also every wolf, and defias. I went out into elwynn only to encounter groups of players killing anything in sight.
Realm 15 seemed to have more wolf spawns available so I just did the quest and grinded them to level 4 and went to do the defias quests which wasn’t that bad compared to the kobolds. After going to goldshire I went to check the mine areas to find them completely full of players and not a single hostile mob in sight. All the boars were dead in the farm and I resorted to killing spiders and other boars to level 8.
Started on realm 16(RP) and leveled to about 4 before it got taken down. Waited a few minutes to see if realms were going to come back up before deciding to just reroll on Realm 3 as a Tauren Hunter.
The Tauren starting area on Realm 3 at the time I rolled was extremely tame and it was easy to complete any of the quests I wanted, even after getting a late start and having to reroll to this realm.
I just hit level 15 at the time of making this post and the only issues I can think of off the top of my head were 3-4 hours ago when there was massive loot and vendor lag that would prevent you from completing any in-game actions(from re-engaging in combat, to even logging out of the game) for up to several minutes after.
Appreciate the opportunity and hope you get the information that you’re looking for.
Realm: 3
It was very easy to log in, no delay. The Tauren area had people but not a ton. When we moved on to the next area, there weren’t many people at all.
We experienced unnatural lag when looting items, turning in quests and selling items. Sometimes it was 30sec + for it to work. They did reset the server twice and that seemed to fix it.
I then made an Undead on Realm 3 to quest with a friend.
We could not find each other at all at first. If we /who (name) it said each of us were not online. If we tried to invite each other to a party it said each of us were not online.
Finally after exiting the game completely, it worked correctly.
The undead starting zone was full of people, this was at about 6pm pacific. But when we left the starting zone and started moving to Brill, it really thinned out
This. Made a Gnome sever three I think, 2:30pm PDT, Coldridge was populated by nothing but players. Everything, EVERYTHING, including the critters were dead. I ran to Kharanos, the Trogg tunnel was empty. Everything around Kharanos was dead. The only mobs alive were level 6-7 wendigos. As I could not find a single mob to kill and could not complete any quests, I was stuck at level 1. Level 7 Wendigos resisted my spells and killed me quickly. What do you expect us to do in those situations? EVERY start zone was the same.
I have to second this. It was unusually empty when I started on 13? Or maybe it was 12, but it was BONE DRY almost. Then they deleted my realm and I got sent to 3, as there were only 2 choices.
3 was packed. I recorded my entire leveling and I didnt get to level 6 until I hit 95 minutes played. There was a ton of time spent just trying to tag a single mob. And I had to get the heck out of the starter area asap just so I could go grind on some oranges for exp and make progress. Oh and most the quests bottlenecked hard.
But I dunno, I sort of expected that? That’s why I was testing a leveling route in the first place to be honest.
If you were playing on Realm 15 Erebos, it was a realm all the streamers announced they were going to play on to stress it as much as possible. I do feel like this same sort of thing is going to happen on release if they don’t do an absolute ton of layering since people want to play the game with the streamers that they watch (or kill them) so they’re really going to need to create some kind of system whether it’s dynamic respawn or dozens upon dozens of layers in the starting areas to offset this.
I was very content with my RP server and 20 other nelves, there were plenty of boars and sabres for us all and I got to level 4, almost 5 very quickly. Within 30 minutes they closed us down. I know what a stress test is, but what exactly are we supposed to do for three hours whilst every mob in the zone is dead and there’s camps of 4-5 people at each spawn point. Play chess? You want us to be online, stressing the servers, but there’s nothing to do. Even the critters are all dead.
I am going to say right here, thanks to the team at Blizzard for bringing back CLassic!! Its marvelous and I did not expect it to be as smooth as it is. Graphics are great, the game runs well and I am enjoying myself a great deal!!
As for the number of people and the quest mobs? Yes, too many in start area and not enough mobs spawning for them. but patience is good, and I finally got through it and headed to Dolanar.
I did notice a few quests were missing, and no flight path, but for a stress test, everything seemed fine.
I did run into a few laggy bits here and there, but once the server reset a few times it worked out.
The starter area was very busy so grouped for kill quest to make it easier. Took about an hour to get out of Deathknell but outside the starter zone much simplier to find mobs - nite and day practically.
I guess my advice to other players if you hate the initial congestion maybe wait a day or 2 during launch week.
realm 15. the starting zone (tirisfal glades) was very crowded (6-7 pm), it took a while for me to get in on camps, even with groups, it slowly got better 730pm, the second zone was kinda empty 830-9 pm. there wasn’t any lag, or anything, kinda enjoyed running into a few people i met earlier.
There was no flight path there in Classic. You had to walk to Darnassus. What quests were missing? Extra flight paths were added in Cata (4.0.3a) to help getting around the zones.
Level 1-5 was about at the far edge of what I’d tolerate for play. While most of the other zones were far more overcrowded, the tauren’s starting quests mandating drops instead of kills makes even a small crowd an issue because grouping won’t solve anything.
Moving into the rest of mulgore felt great, from a population standpoint. outside one specific quest(harpies), nothing was completely farmed out from under me but players were always visible. I did learn mining/smithing to check profession viability, but somehow I don’t think it was a good test. I never saw anyone else whack a node, and copper was just pouring from the hills…I expect the impermanence of our progress discouraged people form bothering. Of course, I still didn’t get far, but it felt a bit fast. Might not be the worst result though, the early crafting levels shouldn’t be a horrible slog.
I didn’t make it as far as the barrens by questing, but I ducked out there and ran a /who…saw no one. might’ve just been too early.
