[Feature Request] Exploration Mode

The only downside I could think of is them claiming that implementation might hinder other areas. Re: Cost a raid tier. Or prevent player housing from being considered.

What if Exploration Mode hooked in with another forgotten lore-rich part of the game: Archaeology!

Maybe there could be new survey points that are hidden around old content that people who have archaeology can see but there is no time limit to enjoy, or necessity to actually interact with those archaeology nodes.

That would be neat… But with them not putting new Arch stuff in, I don’t know if they actually want to continue Arch.

Maybe they just need a little inspiration break. Maybe they need a better place to put it. Exploration Mode might be more realistic if it could appeal to a broader range of audiences.

Brainstorming while we keep Exploration Mode front and center!

New week, new bump!

I just hosted an RP event and thought “This would be so much nicer in Exploration Mode.” We made do, though.

I don’t RP - but this idea is awesome!! It has so many possibilities - for RP folks, guilds, people that just like to explore, etc. It would be a fantastic addition to WOW!
Also - I am now out of likes. :frowning:

Time for a bump! Maybe Exploration Mode could be nestled as a sweet surprise in a Shadowlands patch.

A girl can hope!

Ba-bump.

Still hoping.

Still a great idea!!

Still 100% support for this.

Same. Totally support this.

Also still in support of this. so many places you don’t really get to explore until two xpacs later because you can’t solo clear.

Shadowlands has been delayed. Which means this is something they could totally work in! Dear Blizz, please see this and consider it!

A new weekend, a new chance to get some attention!

I am all for this! I was directed here from twitter just now after saying we need an Exploration Mode. Blizz puts all that hard work into dungeons and raids, while players aren’t usually able to stop and enjoy the surrounding atmosphere.

I agree with the amendment, too. It should be Exploration mode instead of “RP” setting. The bonus would be Exploration mode can make things easily more accessible for Rpers. But it provides a fun benefit for those who don’t RP, too.

Some examples being - the ability to just look at and enjoy design/architecture. The ability to stop and take screenshots or in-game selfies (without your Party being all “omg stop it, let’s keep moving!”). And even Accessibility— there’s a lot of folx (myself included) that have high anxiety going into new things.

The ability to at least know the layout of a place by walking through it would ease a lot of dungeon/raiding anxieties. (Not all, but you get the idea).

And before anyone says anything…
No, LFR doesn’t help learning a layout for people who could benefit from an Accessible Walk-Thru mode. There’s still people involved and LFR is possibly the most anxiety inducing, even if it’s meant to be the learners mode.

Tl;dr

I support this. And Blizzard, it provides benefit to - Game/Lore Explorers, people who want to admire your employees hard work, those who could use it for Accessibility purposes*, and for RPers.

Excellent ideas defy time and space!

Let’s see Exploration Mode come to life in the future!

For the record, mobs stop completely when a keystone is finished and dont attack (and I don’t think they can be attacked) so there is something that they could easily use to “turn off” a dungeon at least already.

FFXIV has recently added exactly this, named as “Explorer Mode” (maybe they got the idea from this thread!)
