[Feature Request] Exploration Mode

I am looking forward to when such things are in game. It shall be a lot of fun!

This idea is so brilliant.

Yes! Let’s push for this idea as a dry run for further features like housing!

Scholomance could be a lot of fun, too. There are a lot of unique rooms! Each dungeon has a strong, thematic vibe – EM Dungeons could be wonderful gathering places for guilds and groups to meet up and not just roleplay, but also hang out and gather before raids, too. (Maybe?)

Would a non-roleplayer enjoy an easy-to-access, thematic hang-out spot?

It reminds me of Order Halls in Legion, only these places that could be accessed by any class!

I still love the Rogue and Paladin class halls, with their super secret spy entrances.

A screen shot from the annual Tournament of Ages! We managed to raise over $10,000 for charity this year. This idea is geared towards RPers for sure. We might not be the biggest population in-game, but we’re a significantly sized player base all the same. (And non-RPer’s could still get use from it, as detailed in the initial post!

Well done!

I think that this is a brilliant idea and I would love to see Blizzard implement it!

I’m not an RPer, but I am a big sightseer in WoW. I love the worlds, the environments, I love just cruising around and appreciating them. Many times I’ve gone back into raid instances that my guild had cleared to sightsee.

But I haven’t raided for a long time, and so there’s whole tiers of raid instance design that I haven’t been able to look at and enjoy.

Call it sandbox mode. Dungeons/raids with no mobs/bosses BUT with other things left in place. Like the Junkyard’s Oppression Unit’s 2nd phase gauntlet - leave that in there so people can practice that. Or the ToS gauntlet on the way to Galvazd…

Would have loved that when I was starting M+. Learning those while doing the rush-rush-rush runs was a pain.

I don’t push high keys specifically because I don’t know the routes or shortcuts. So I’d DEFINITELY get use out of it for more than RP!

Sandbox mode would be amazing – but that would probably have a connotation of promising too much. Haha. Sandbox games are open and allow more deep exploration/customization than anything I think WoW would be able to actually handle.

I’d love it, though!

Just give us a map editor while we’re at it too… Top Kek.

Really though… This would be so nice. Someday, maybe? Please? Blizz?

Not just RPers could benefit from this. This would make it MUCH easier for folks who want to do Machinima.

And I’ve seen some incredibly well done machinima.

Not to mention having the luxury to actually stop and appreciate the artwork. I mean, some of those dungeons are just beautiful but … in the face of death death machines trying to make you dead … you can’t stop and enjoy the roses per se.

I swear this would have to be the easiest thing to implement ever. I would be 100% down for this

Dude, I LOVE this idea. I’ve used old school raids that I’ve cleared for RP events before. I like it because it’s a private instance - we’re not encroaching on anybody’s gameplay, and nobody can grief us while we’re in the middle of RP. Doing this would increase the number of locations RPers could hold events, especially if the number of people you can take into an instance was made flexible.

There are so many dungeons and raids that have wonderful atmospheres, but unfortunately they can’t be properly enjoyed when you’re with a group that’s rushing through trying to down bosses and get loot. I’d use this setting just for myself to get a closer look things.

This is a fantastic idea, and I hope it’s something the developers consider.

Oh man. I didn’t even think about Machinima makers! That would open so much more possibility for those!

Player agency. (Apparent) ease of implementation. Broad variety of uses for more than one portion of the player base.

Could it be there would be no downside? I don’t see one thus far!

Still like this.

Pretty sure one of the assassins creed games did this. The Egypt one? Basically an exploration mode with no enemies.
