Feature Idea: Use LLMs to Niceify Chat!

Solo Shuffle and Blitz chat often devolves into negative feedback loops of name calling, finger pointing, and downright not niceness.

Here’s the pitch - every time someone says anything it’s first fed into an LLM filter with the prompt:

“Rephrase this to be as nice as possible. Remove anything that isn’t pertinent to the current objective of this PvP game. Here is the rules and objectives of the current mode: …”

This filter could also be optional and enabled on the receivers side. You can choose to never see a negative post ever again. Whispers could go from:

**** you **** did a **** job *** can’t believe you are allowed to *** heal

into:

That was a tough one! I saw you trying really hard back there, I think we both could have traded defensives better. Until next time!

I believe this might be one of the most effective ideas ever devised to increase healer participation.

whats really sad is how likely this could actually be a thing.

AI is the future, we need to harness this technology before it replaces us altogether.

Or they could just filter it like overwatch does in whispers or general chat so they rage more unable to say what they want

You type in “You idiot. How can you play that bad?”

The AI rephrases it, “Excuse me kind DPS. I hate to bring this up but you seem to be stepping in everything and killing yourself so fast that no one can heal you. Would you kindly consider looking at the ground once in a while and possibly taking two steps left or right on occasion? I know this may be an inconvenience but if you could do this your Team would praise you and your improving skills.”

A kinder and gentler WOW experience

Bahaha that’s funny

No thanks, I like the crap talkers. Negative emotions exist for a reason. They are useful.

It would be absolutely hilarious watching the wow pvp community have their hostile chat changed to pleasantries before their eyes.

Overwatch turns your chat into like "it’s past my bedtime I’m big baby " crap like that to be funny when you try to trash talk or be toxic

Wow devs could make a plethora of lines to change their text to here if someone’s getting riled up

I just imagine some George Costanza type character sitting there screaming “That’s not what I typed! that’s not what I typed in there! They are going to think I’m nice!”

I would have it say “I’m really bad and frustrated sorry” every time it detects hostile language. Over and over

"Jerry, you wouldn’t believe the indignity! I’m in Warsong Gulch, right? And this gnome, this gnome , Jerry, keeps running the flag the wrong way. The wrong way !

The LLM, Jerry! This infernal ‘Lousy Language Modifier’! I’m trying to tell this guy he’s a buffoon, a nincompoop, a real shlemiel, and it’s making me sound like a motivational speaker!

I typed, ‘I’ve seen slinkies with a better sense of direction!’ It says, ‘Your navigational prowess is a beacon of hope!’

A beacon of hope, Jerry! I’m losing my mind! How am I supposed to properly berate people when the game turns me into a virtual Mister Rogers?! It’s a conspiracy, Jerry! A conspiracy of niceness!"

Sounds like a black mirror episode

We need to do this on the forums every single time a player complains about botting or boosting in shuffle without providing a vod.

I want the Wild West internet back where nothing is ever censored or moderated whatsoever. Barring that, this idea is preferable to the bans I’ve received.

Actually mostly not lol… Being able to stay calm and rationally think about what you could have done better is going to take you way further than rage baby whispering someone else about how they suck lol…

So true… Lol ops idea is bad but you can’t stop the tech bros lol

Lmao honestly the best show of all time.

If only they still made TV shows that good.

ermm people play games to avoid negative emotion and have Fun. so when the negative emotion Does happen during the game, it is amplified. stress is not a good thing for the body just because it is natural lol

Depends on the stress. Too much of it is bad a little is good. Like imagine playing farming ville that game has absolutely no stress at all and it makes it unfun. There’s a good middle ground of acceptable stress where it makes things entertaining.

If you get stressed to the point where you feel it, then you should log off the game and take a break.
