False reporting and automated ban

Again, I can speak only for myself, but if they removed the auto squelch and simply “flagged” accounts for manual review once that target number of reports, it should take about the same amount of time for a manual review to determine if any violation occurred and apply the appropriate punishment as it currently takes to review the an auto squelch and either overturn it or apply the appropriate punishment.

The difference is that there would be no player imposed punishment prior to that manual review.

It is a simple question, do you think blizzard will enforce chat better in classic than they did in vanilla, or bc, wrath?

I do not know, and I am not going to speculate. How can this mean anything. You are trying to paint me into some corner here. Quit lawyering me bro. Ask me something we can talk about in the present.

Why would they not be able to properly respond as promptly to an account that is simply “flagged” for review but not auto squelched as they currently do to an account that is “squelched and flagged” for review?

You notice when we talk in the present, not the future or past, he cannot answer the question you repeatedly asked him? It’s like he’s dodging it or something lol.

We know the state of chat pre right click, we know the state of chat since, how many people have you seen spamming anal abilities since?

Yes, I played vanilla.

I reported more than a few people for “chat that would make a prostitute blush”. When I reported someone I added them to my friends list. I do not recall a single time when someone I reported did not disappear from that friends list.

I guess I do not pay attention that much to chat, if I am idle I usually am doing something on the net, like these forums or what not. If I am questing or something I do not even see it. From what I know in the past from what I have seen, is I do not let words hurt me. I always think of the phrase: “Show me on the doll where these words hurt you”.

The right click report was implemented for convenience in reporting and did not originally include the auto squelch, if I am correct.

The auto squelch was added later.

I see it every time I log into the game.

Now you’re getting to the heart of the matter. Some posters think they can do a better moderation job than Blizzard employees.

So you have no reason one way or the other to care about right click reporting?

Well apparently that is what blizzard thought as well

The only thing I care about is if it can be abused or not. By people using the tools given to them to ignore and report (without applying punishment) and letting blizzard decide to punish the offender, or punish the person doing the reporting for false accusation.

Is that why auto squelches are overturned?

If Blizzard truly felt that players do a better moderation job than they do, why overturn a player driven moderation?

Are you going to admit that players report things that should not be reported?

So you don’t care that the chat system was being abused?

Some people have seen too many superhero movies. They think they’re some kind of masked avenger doing justice.

LoL, but aren’t the people so worried that everyone should accept what they say in public chat no better than say david koresh or james jones?

It should be up to Blizzard (NOT the reporting players) to mete out any appropriate punishment to those players once they are reported.

So , back to the point, do you or do you not want chat enforced?
