I was not aware there were official statistics of such. I personally have had forum actions overturned, not auto squeches, GMs clearly not being on the same page. Do you imagine this doesnt also happen in game?
I asked that the auto squelch be removed from the right click report system while leaving the auto ignore still tied to that right click report system and the target report number simply “flag” the account for manual review ASAP instead of “squelching the account and flagging it for manual review”.
No I’m saying it’s not okay for players to blatantly troll and break the TOS in chat. Right click squelch puts a very nice cap on that. It shouldn’t take any longer for GM’s to fix a chat problem than it does for them to fix an incorrect squelch.
The difference is that with an incorrect squelch, one person is impacted, someone screwing around in a public chat channel impacts everyone in that channel.

Thats the old system.
Look…Fesz…I started in 2010, long before the new system came in. The old system was BROKEN and took forever. We had people making comments and jokes that were quite frankly, DISGUSTING.
I mean disgusting. My wife and I were both nurses, we both had “thick skins” but for Gods sake man, there is a line you dont cross.
“Feminine” jokes.
Concentration camp jokes.
This isnt “get a thick skin” there were people who quite frankly deserved to be PERMBANNED for what they said. I am no “snowflake”, buit believe me, even I have a limit to what I will tolerate.
We would report them…come back…a day later there they were again.
“Put them on ignore” - i didnt have the ROOM to add them all in. No one did.
Look I get you and I dont see eye to eye, thats fine. And for the love of God QUIT IT with this “trolling” garbage, some of you. I may disagree with you but that is NOT trolling.
My POV is just as valid as yours.
So, I am telling you, honestly and truly, what you want is to revert to an old system that was proven not to work. Why do you think it was replaced?
I had a discussion with a GM on this once, years ago, on a specific report, and the GM told me that they DONT HAVE THE TIME to manually review each case.
Especially soon after.
Tickets can take up to two days.
I dont know how it works but my guess is that they get a report once a day with an aggregate of reports, they then run that with the logs and say yea or nay.
You cannot…and Im mean cannot…spend all day on “knucklehead stuff”. You must prioritise. Time management.
sigh
I have tried to point this out and yes I am a tad exasperated…you CANNOT expect the GMs to take time away form what needs to be done to focus on this…these chat reports are one facet of a MUCH bigger picture. In all truth, you would be staggered to see their workloads.
I used to run CS teams, and each staffer HAD to manage their time, you cant have backlogs because that makes it worse…now you are behind the 8 ball with more on the way. Backlogs are a nightmare to clear.
And even if the right click report were not tied to an auto squelch, everyone in that channel would still have the option to right click report if they felt that they are being “impacted”, would they not?
Why are you insistent that you have the power to collude with other players to silence any other player for any reason, eve if that player never broke any rules?
You cannot deny that tying the right click report to an auto squelch gives every player the option to collude with their friends and guild mates to squelch any other player for any reason, even if that other player never broke any rules.
And since you claim that Blizzard doesn’t have time to manually review each case, the chances of even being suspected of abusing the auto squelch by said collusion would be small, would they not?
You cannot deny that tying the right click report to an auto squelch gives every player the option to collude with their friends and guild mates to squelch any other player for any reason, even if that other player never broke any rules.
And yet this doomsday scenario hasnt happened since the system started.
He insists the he be given the option to collude with his friends and guild mates to silence any other player for any reason, for every little slight he felt he had to suffer, even if that other player never broke any rules.
