Ziryus, contrary to your willful ignorance of the situation there are trolls and organized players who will abuse this in game system to their advantage. This will be common place practice in Classic WoW because the world and its resources are something people fight over. This system lowers the difficulty level of controlling an enemy be they friendly or foe.
It’s not a question of if it will happen, but a question of what we must do to eliminate the auto-squelch and DC feature of the the click to report system.
Click to report is ok, but auto squelch and DC are not acceptable because it requires no actual offense of any kind take place for the report to result in a mob lynching of a player.
This is compounded in any situation where the environment gets competitive. This may be a concept you’re unfamiliar with and that’s ok, but it simply illuminates your ignorance of the full scope of game play in Classic WoW.
You are equating Classic to BFA, and while this system is abused in BFA it will be far more abused in Classic WoW; no question about it.
One instance does not represent the community as a whole. However over time with enough data collected one can see an overall community opinion forming towards certain things and ofc certain people.
So yes while I’m starting to agree this community might not be able to handle that I just don’t think it’s because of the system. It’s the community itself. Especially over longer periods of time.
In one single instance though it’s just a group abusing a system in a single moment.
I may add this is all dependent upon the powers to be to enforce the part in their policy on abusing this system as well.
I do concur if abuse is left unchecked it will spread.
However at this current time we have very limited info on blizz’s action or inaction on this topic concerning wow. We have seen a bit of it concerning league play in other blizz games.
So is that just fluff to “ensure fairplay and sportsmanship” in their esport assests or does wow really have a problem with this that is being overlooked? -next hot streamer topic. I really should start making some videos. Lol
Your welcome and I do apologize for getting carried away at times here but sometimes I can’t keep the beast down when his chain gets rattled. I try. Lol
I should probably switch to decaff…
End of the day I am here for discussion but I can go with whatever folks call the other stuff too.
What I am happy to see is the way some of the regular users here have really started to build a bit of community here.
I’m going to be a bit sad when classic launches and everyone switches their main forum avatars again. Lol
No. It is NOT necessarily a “reflection of the general attitude of that community” and you KNOW that, but refuse to admit it.
Tell us all how the minority of Johnny and his cronies represent the “community as a whole” and not just that minority imposing their will on that community?
Tell us all how the minority of Johnny and his cronies represent “a reflection of the general attitude of that community” and not just that minority imposing their will on that community?
Even though we disagreed, I still admire and respect you because you, at least, tried to converse. Perhaps, in the distant future, we may even become friends, down the line
This is why I love the Forums. I always make friends, despite the bickering
Blizzard decided what the maximum number of people a single person should be able to annoy is. People behaving poorly ran rampant all over the old system and now we’re reaping the consequences.
Hypothetically, Blizzard leaves the auto ignore in place for the right click report system but removes the auto squelch. They tie the target report number, which currently triggers an auto squelch to a “flag” on the account for manual review ASAP to determine if a violation occurred and what action, if any, is appropriate.
Tell us all how the GM’s will not have the time to review those accounts that are not auto squelched but simply “flagged” for manual review yet those same GM’s will somehow have the time to review those same “flagged” accounts if the right click report were tied to an auto squelch.
I consider the avatars I see on a regular here part of this forum community. Whether I agree with ya guys or not I consider ya my forum community peoples. I mean some of us kinda pitched a tent here and we ain’t leaving till we have classic to play. Lol
Heck even Fez and myself found we have old school transformers and star trek in common.
I think all of this is the Spirit of Vanilla we often talk about here. /shrug
Sure like I said earlier if they actually can review things in a timely manner then that’s fine. Blizzard has however proved they won’t do that for chat issues and that’s why we have auto squelch.
But sure if they can actually handle things as you say ASAP, as in within minutes of an infraction then great.
The problem is that “maximum number” is not necessarily a “a reflection of the general attitude of that community” and does not necessarily represent the "will of the ‘community as a whole’ ".
Removing the auto squelch while leaving the auto ignore tied to the right click report and setting that “maximum number of people a single person should be able to annoy” to flag the account for manual review ASAP to determine if a violation actually occurred still leaves that “maximum number” in place, but leaves any action in Blizzard’s hands.
If Blizzard decides that a violation occurred, they will take what they deem is appropriate action.
If Blizzard decides that no violation occurred, they will take no action.
In either case, Johnny and his cronies who were annoyed are able to avoid being annoyed further due to the temporary ignore tied to their reports.
I can only speak for myself, but that is all I am asking.
Yes I’m purposely only quoting one word and trying to keep this short. They need to give us something to hide full post quotes.
Seriously you have to admit what you and Ziy are doing is a bit ridiculous with that?
We don’t know many back side details. So we have no reference to even compare response times to.
We don’t know if there are any kind of extra flagging to sort out abusers of the report system, players who are constantly flagged for violation, what constitutes priority?
What’s the cost comparisons?
So honestly without more data I can’t give you an answer.
Tell us all how the GM’s will not have the time to review those accounts that are not auto squelched but simply “flagged” for manual review yet those same GM’s will somehow have the time to review those same “flagged” accounts if the right click report were tied to an auto squelch.
Or, are you saying that it is OK for a player who was squelched even though he broke no rules to suffer an unwarranted player imposed punishment for what you apparently deem to be an intolerably long time if that time does not carry that player imposed punishment?
Flagged for manual review was the previous system, it didn’t work. So unless you are also proposing that blizzard somehow fix what didn’t work about that system…
If the same target report number is used and the only difference is that the account is only “flagged for review” and not “squelched and flagged for review”, the response time should logically be the same, should it not?
