False reporting and automated ban

false. theres been quite a few interviews and articles written about it to back up my statement.

try again.

Ill make this as clear as I can.

Activision does not, and never has, directed, controlled or otherwise made any changes in how Blizzard runs their games. This is a plain fact.

I dont need to think what I know to be a fact. Blizzard runs their own games and always has. Activision does not enter into the equation on any level.

And yet, we have already seen posters who admit that will go so far as to create characters on other servers with the express intent to try to get those that do not agree with them squelched in order to disrupt their game.

But that would be rare than winning the lottery, right?

Right click report is not a based thing, in and of itself. It is the auto-squelch that is the problem.

Right click report tied to an ignore would be great. Right click report tied to an auto-squelch is just asking for abuse, IMO.

Or for the time they were temporarily banned from the game.

You’d think being temp-banned would be worse than temp-silenced, right? Wrong. Blizzard changed the system because it didn’t work. This one does.

Those are the same people who would abuse the old system.
And should they do what they’re saying they’re going to do, They’re putting their account on that. If they falsely report people like that, they’re putting themselves at risk of being banned. That assumes they can garner the support to even get enough reports to squelch someone.

What on earth are you guys planning to spam general/trade/world chat with that has you this worried about this feature? 99% of people have no interaction with it whatsoever. Its a total nothing-burger to people who don’t act like absolute morons in game; yet it has some of you guys as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

Bizarre.

The right click report doesn’t require a person to spam chat in order to report them, though.

Johnny can right click report you, and get his guild to do so, even if you never type anything in chat.

Eventually these people will encounter being silenced for nothing then flip out over it demanding it be changed.

At which they’re falsely reporting someone, subjecting themselves to bans.
Sounds like a good enough preventative measure.

It’s never happened to me in however long the system has been in place on Modern WoW. I suspect It’ll never happen on Classic either.

It’s just the whole “People don’t trust the system.” I mean, i don’t like the fact that if i say “LF One none Goof DPS BRD! PST ME” People can report me for it, and it’s bannable if enough do, I’m not saying it’s common, but it’s the fact that it happens a lot due to mob rule. I’m normally agreeable enough as a person, manners and all that. But i just don’t trust Auto silence, even if i don’t like some one or agree with what they say i’d never want to ban em.

It’s just the good ol argument of, “Do we want government / Systems in our personal life or games.” Some do some don’t it’s a debate as old as time.

That’s not something worthy of a squelch. If you’re not endlessly spamming it, that’s subjecting those reporting you for it to being banned themselves.
It doesn’t happen a lot. Throughout all of the posts on this discussion i’ve only seen 1 person actually say they were reported and ultimately they revealed they were saying some stuff worthy of report. Outside of that I haven’t heard of anyone that was actually falsely reported.
So, no, it doesn’t happen a lot.

Most threads are nonsense on forums this days

Remember, though, that retail is an entirely different environment than Classic will be. How often do you really see another player more than once in retail? How often is it necessary to even communicate with the ransom people with whom those group finder tools places you?

I’ve seen Matcauthon twice and Mddsteve once and they’re not even on the same server as me. Both are players I’ve debated with on the Classic WoW forum. If I was more active, I’d probably see them again.

Eh, it happens i mean i can’t say anything on wow But there are other blizzard games that this was a huge problem on, Hero’s of the storm for example, they both use the same system.

If you run with a guild like a lot of people did back in those days, you won’t need randoms very much either and those you do will only ever be around for 1 or 2 runs.

i wont argue with you. suffice it to say, you are wrong and uninformed.

Tom Chilton commented as much in an interview.
