And yet, we have already seen posters who admit that will go so far as to create characters on other servers with the express intent to try to get those that do not agree with them squelched in order to disrupt their game.
But that would be rare than winning the lottery, right?
Right click report is not a based thing, in and of itself. It is the auto-squelch that is the problem.
Right click report tied to an ignore would be great. Right click report tied to an auto-squelch is just asking for abuse, IMO.
Those are the same people who would abuse the old system.
And should they do what theyâre saying theyâre going to do, Theyâre putting their account on that. If they falsely report people like that, theyâre putting themselves at risk of being banned. That assumes they can garner the support to even get enough reports to squelch someone.
What on earth are you guys planning to spam general/trade/world chat with that has you this worried about this feature? 99% of people have no interaction with it whatsoever. Its a total nothing-burger to people who donât act like absolute morons in game; yet it has some of you guys as nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
Itâs just the whole âPeople donât trust the system.â I mean, i donât like the fact that if i say âLF One none Goof DPS BRD! PST MEâ People can report me for it, and itâs bannable if enough do, Iâm not saying itâs common, but itâs the fact that it happens a lot due to mob rule. Iâm normally agreeable enough as a person, manners and all that. But i just donât trust Auto silence, even if i donât like some one or agree with what they say iâd never want to ban em.
Itâs just the good ol argument of, âDo we want government / Systems in our personal life or games.â Some do some donât itâs a debate as old as time.
Thatâs not something worthy of a squelch. If youâre not endlessly spamming it, thatâs subjecting those reporting you for it to being banned themselves.
It doesnât happen a lot. Throughout all of the posts on this discussion iâve only seen 1 person actually say they were reported and ultimately they revealed they were saying some stuff worthy of report. Outside of that I havenât heard of anyone that was actually falsely reported.
So, no, it doesnât happen a lot.
Remember, though, that retail is an entirely different environment than Classic will be. How often do you really see another player more than once in retail? How often is it necessary to even communicate with the ransom people with whom those group finder tools places you?
Iâve seen Matcauthon twice and Mddsteve once and theyâre not even on the same server as me. Both are players Iâve debated with on the Classic WoW forum. If I was more active, Iâd probably see them again.
Eh, it happens i mean i canât say anything on wow But there are other blizzard games that this was a huge problem on, Heroâs of the storm for example, they both use the same system.
If you run with a guild like a lot of people did back in those days, you wonât need randoms very much either and those you do will only ever be around for 1 or 2 runs.
