False reporting and automated ban

And if Blizzard decides that what Johnny is doing violates the rules, they will take whatever action they deem necessary and appropriate.

What? The auto squelch is acting as the law…

The players are not just “calling the GM’s to step in”, though. They are also “holding the person for a bit” (squelching the player).

as they ALWAYS HAVE

Source?

Are you simply spouting your own assumptions?

you do know you can still talk in raid and party while squelched right?

  1. in a world boss run with your guild do you really think they wont all be in discord?
  2. in a RAID GROUP do you really think they will use /say and /yell to communicate? you serious?

I’m gonna be honest. I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not. Now you’re insinuating that players could always auto-squelch others, and…obviously that’s not true.

grabbing it, the post was super old so the old forum posts are gone now.

“And if Blizzard decides that what Johnny is doing violates the rules, they will take whatever action they deem necessary and appropriate.”

“As they always have”
can you learn to read?
or do we need to say it in /say

Good luck proving that the people reporting said “spam” did not believe that it was indeed “spam”.

yes its super easy as a gm “How many messeges did they send within 5 minutes? How many of them were the exact same? Alright guilty, 24 hour silence.” boom done

The difference is players having the power to apply their own punishment.

You keep responding to posts about auto-squelch saying it always existed. So, again, I don’t know if you’re being sarcastic or not.

Yes, you could always report players. Who here is asking for that to be removed? I haven’t seen anyone ask for it. It’s the player-driven squelch that’s the problem.

Let’s say that it’s the same (or even a similar) message once every 10 minutes. Even if they overturn the squelch, how does Blizzard prove that those people who reported didn’t think it was spam?

We’ve even had at least one person who believes that 3 times in an hour is “spam”.

Three times in an hour would not likely meet Blizzard’s criteria for “spam”, but good luck proving that it did not meet Johnny’s criteria for 'spam".

No auto squelching did not always exist, GM’s looking at reports and deciding if they should be silenced or not always has been.

Right, and no one is trying to take that away. Glad we agree.

im trying to find it, the old blue posts about it at gone now cause of the change over to this one.
but its repeated abuse that wuld cause it.
and if someone thinks 3 hour is spam then thats their fault

but again though, reporting a tank who is in a raid group tanking a world boss does literally nothing.

Ah yes the old this is how it works but doesn’t really work that way…
The game will not even let you spam anymore. It stops you from posting more than so many messages in a short time and then holds you up. Lol

Let’s get a real money trader in here who sells mythic carries. I’m sure they probably get reported all the time. Lol

I see, so taking away a player’s ability to communicate with anyone other than those in their raid group has no impact in an mmo.

Ok, it’s finally dawned on me what’s going on here. Took me way too long. I’m getting daft in my old age.
