w…what? you dont know how the system works do you?
you literally do not know how the system works.

if 20 people report a player for “cheating” they wont get instantly banned, the automated system is ONLY FOR CHATTING.

so no the automated system will not suddenly allow you to auto ban tanks of a guilds world boss kill.

seriously you shoudl do your research dude.

player 1 is spamming trade chat
player 2 is just chilling and says hi
players 3-22 all report them for spamming
player 1 and 2 are then silenced.
Gm 3 hours later steps in and checks player 1’s silence, looking at the logs. He the decides yes, he spammed and gives him the 3 day silence punishment for first offence.

gm then moves onto player 2, checks their silence… looks at the logs, and decides it was a false flag, removing the silence, apologizing and “weakening” players 3-22’s power to report people in the future.

It DOES NOT work on “trolling” or “Cheating” so no, you cant run up to a group doing a world boss, and report their tank until it kicks them off, just not how the automated system works.

please next time do your research.

it is super simple but you seem to have oberblown it into something that could be used to kick tanks offline…?

also btw you know removing squelch wont stop people from reporting what you say if they dont like what you are saying right?

if you say something political their report will be just as good with or without squelching, just you will have a few more hours free to talk.

yes… but you seem to forget unlike secruity 101, you have a 100% chance to be caught if you abuse this system cause EVERYTHING is on their servers and logged.

if you abuse the squelch system you simply lose your possiblity to ever use it again, and abusing it can even get a temp ban.

We said this about guild bank alts too. Most said to trust the community and that it couldn’t possibly happen because vanilla had this wonderful community that would never do such things.

Where did I use the word ban? I didn’t. I said you might as well logoff if you’re squelched because losing the ability to communicate with other players in Classic is essentially making you unable to play the game.

By the way, the label of the report is irrelevant. As Tips’ video shows, you can report people who’ve said nothing (see: squelching a player on the enemy team in a bg). And when GMs get thousands and thousands…and thousands of reports every day because everyone is abusing the system because Classic game design encourages them to do so, they won’t punish the abusers. They won’t even be able to sift through the sea of reports to find them.

Yeah guild bank alts horrible idea, almost like blizz shold add a guild bank but still issues there but… “IT WASNT IN VANILLA”

but yeah Mogar a few posts up doesent know how it works, obviously by the point he thinks you could get someone BANNED FROM THE GAME by just reporting him with a few people.

Oh boy, I understand now.

Good thing it’s 2019 and anything security-related is logged. Like cybersecurity. Like doorbell cameras or CCTV.

Which is where my lolwat came from. Everything is logged nowadays. It doesn’t stop people from abusing exploits. People still steal packages from doorsteps. People still break into homes with alarm systems and cameras.

I know and reading this whole thing was really hilarious. One guy went on this rant about how it would effect “world first” race in classic. Lol
Yea cause cutting edge guilds allow VOIP communication to be optional when trying to get “world first”.
You see they gloss over the only verifiable info we have at this point and continue to rant too. Lol

if you think “Doorbell chimed at 4:20 by a man in a skimask” is the same as
“this account at 4:20 reported this post for spamming which was deemed not spamming so we will be punishing them acordingly”

the top one there is still the chance they may get away with it
the bottom, blizz literally has EVERYTHING they need.

… Does he really think cutting edge guilds would use /say and /yell for their raids? if your silenced you can still talk in raid, party, and well… do people think they wont all be in a giant discord?

this is 2019 not 2004, and even back then we had mumble and ventrilo… lord that ping still haunts me to this date…

The problem is that in the case of right click report tied to an auto squelch, it is not the “police holding the person for a bit”. It is the neighbors beating that person into submission.

How so? The players are just calling the Gm’s to step in, they are not suddenly acting as the law and deciding how long the person should be punished.
