Perhaps it was when people started abusing the system because they hate it or enjoy it.
They are trying to show it needs to be changed by further abusing it.
Yet the common view seems to be itâs because people who have soft skin are reporting everything.
Both views lack the actual data to support either and are assumptions/speculation.

Are you really surprised that someone who sees all those other players in an MMO as nothing but obstacles in their way and apparently wants to play a convenience filled solo game in a multiplayer world would favor an auto-censor system?

Itâs not virtuous nonsense, its the truth and there are people out there that do not value logic, reason and truth; they only care about the delicate feelings of people so fragile that they are of no good use to society as a whole. They do not contribute to the greater good, they do not strive to embrace logic, reason and enlightenment like TRUE liberals do and once did before this horrible dark age of jealousy and persecution.
In case you did not get the memo, Liberals are for personal freedom and liberty, and all the values that were promoted by Thomas Jefferson. He was wise to distrust the banking industry and laws promoted by feelings, as well as the corruption that authoritarian lords bring on society.
There is a reason why the FIRST amendment of the constitution of the United States of America is the FIRST, because with out the freedom to speak freely in public youâre most certainly going to be in ruin soon.
There is a reason why the second amendment directly follows, so that the first and all that follow can be preserved. It had nothing to do with hunting or sporting, but to establish the power of the people, a true liberal society that is the hallmark of the west.
Now that people constantly attack free speech, and do not take a stand against authoritarians who attempt to eliminate free speech, Here I stand united with the very small remainder of the democratic party and the republicans and libertarians who still value Freedom in Western Society.
You may say âbut this is Activisionâs forum and gameâ and youâre correct, but this is a situation where young people can just like in real life public learn about things in the world. Sure these are not game related always, but if you do not like these things; simply turn off chat like I do.
Back in Vanilla there were a few general forum trolls that were honestly renown for their ability to troll and overall they were very funny looking back on it.
This auto squelch feature will eliminate that component of General chat, and while you may welcome it along with guys like Ziryus, itâs not for you to decide, nor is it for any group of people to decide who can who cannot speak.
Instead, reporting of trolling and toxic behavior MUST be handled in the old way; a report is filed to a REAL GM who then reviews the situation and takes the needed action.
This way justice can be delivered IF it must be, without the worry of the community to be destroyed by this disgusting Orwellian 3rd world nightmare thtaâs become the modern Western Society.
I know why these companies do this kinda stuff; itâs partly because they live in a bubble, I have been there and seen it first hand, and on top of that these big companies are insanely addicted to that juicy Chinese communist money, and they sorely want into that market share ohhh so bad.
However for them to get into that market they just both alter their games to reflect Chinese communist party political stances, namely heavy censorship, a Guilty until proven innocent stance, and authoritarian rule. None of this is to say that the Chinese people are bad, because they are actually really awesome, but their government is a vile evil on this world that does unspeakable atrocities daily.
Why donât they revolt you say? Because doing so is death with out any chance of survival. The people have no weapons, they have no chance vs the government, and no way to speak out.
Platforms like these were the last bastion of hope for the people living in horrible nations where they are trapped. This was their escape, and companies like Activision whom kowtow to the Chinese political party now eliminate that last escape and hope.
You may think I am wrong, but you have not done your research. Open your eyes man, look outside the bubble you live in and realize that the freedom of speech should be preserved, even in game, even if you do not like it.
We had workable options classically that allowed us to block people whom we did not want to hear, and we were also totally able to turn off chat, so there is no good reason to include such an authoritarian structure into Classic WoW that infringes on the freedom to speak in game.

Your access to these forums and to the game is a âprivilege,â and not a âconstitutional right". Blizzard can suspend you from these forums or their games for whatever, and in whatever manner they like.

The old way was abused. People would be toxic, harass others, and what not with no consequences because reporting them took so long to get any action that, by the time any GM saw it, they were logged out for the time they would be silenced.
Iâd rather err on the side of automatic squelches as they can be appealed. If youâre being targeted by someone trying to abuse the system, there is evidence the GMs can use to ban the abuser and they can even setup protections on your account to prevent some automatic squelches.
And before you say âbut if they need protection from auto squelching that means the old system is betterâ, itâs not. The chances of anyone needing that protection are rarer than winning the lottery.
I would rather the toxic people actually be punished with the new system rather than allowing them to go unpunished on the old system.
