False reporting and automated ban

[citation needed]

IIRC, it does not remove the ability to /s or speak in party, guild or raid channels.

Wouldn’t you guys get further with a CS issue over in CS?
The whole :I’m completely innocent bit doesn’t work over there though does it? They will pull that card qwuick over there. Keep it generalized. LOL

Are you stating that the system can’t be abused. The simple mechanics of how the system works prove that it can be abused, If X amount of people report person in x time period then they get squelched. Asmondgold and others have done it on stream when they have someone trolling them, they get their minions to right click report.

On the other point, how do you get into a pug if you can’t /say or /whisper or talk in general chat. If not by communicating with others outside of the game.

I am not impressed with what a pants on head streamer and his minions do. It is on blizzard to crack down on that.

Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time. Again, I am 100% all for blizzard dealing with offenders in the strongest way possible. If this was such a huge issue, you all would be in GD or the CS forum creating these threads.

On another angle of the subject, have any of the “just put them on ignore” considered someone who is trying to sell items or profession services in /trade? How does putting spammers on ignore help their ability to sell their wares?

I live out in the world and we talk all the time. With warmode on it’s usually “alliance are camping x fp” but it’s usually no different than trade chat.

You don’t  I got silenced a while ago and my group (LFD) didn’t know what to do. I did, couldn’t tell them though because I was silenced

Isnt them losing a good reputation on their realm bad enough? Why do they need a silence?
The system automatically silences them for a brief period of time. How is this fair to people whom aren’t doing anything wrong?
If someone doesn’t like you because you camped their alt on the other faction, they can have their whole guild report you and have you disconnected during a raid and result in a wipe.
You could be looking for a group to run dungeons and now you cant because you are silenced.
You could be in the middle of a BG trying to increase your rank. You are holding the flag? Not anymore cause you just dc’d. Other team gets free cap.
You are talking to people in your guild but don’t have the discord info yet? Cant anymore. You been silenced because people who don’t like you abused the system.

The system they have put in place on retail is terrible and will be abused every hour of every day on every realm. If they don’t add it and people just used the ignore feature, there wont be any issues like explained above. Adding this one thing will deter an enormous amount of people from playing the game.

Yes it does. You cannot speak in any chat channel while silenced.

I love how people are talking about this before doing any research. Thanks Twiinkedd for informing the uninformed.

Why are you comparing its affect on retail to what its affect would be on classic? They are two different games.

On the other subject, I said that squelching opposing sellers would give them an advantage. If I am selling an enchant for 10g+mats and another sellers undercuts me and does 6g+mats, I have my guild report him so that he cant talk in trade or anything for a period of time. Now I don’t have competition and can sell mine for the price I want.

At which point blizz has evidence that you’re abusing the logs, subjecting you and all of the people who joined you to punishment.

I feel as though anyone who wants auto-silence in the game, plans to abuse it but of course they wont tell you that. I know my friends, whom still play retail, abuse this system every RBG they play.

Not necessarily. They simply claim that they “reported him for spam”.

Good luck proving that it was anything else.

haha…REALLY???

This is proof otherwise.

no they can’t there is no auto disconnect, if that does happen it is because a GM reviewed it and apparently that DCs you at first.

But yet it isn’t abused like you claim is will be, if the Classic community is supposed to be so much better than Live, than there should be no problems then.

make enough false reports and yes you will get actioned, doing it a bunch as a group would just make it that much easier for the GMs.

they can just claim they thought you were posting too often in trade chat. I just don’t understand how people think an auto squelch system is a MUST HAVE. Make it so it automatically brings up a box asking if you want to add the person to your ignore list when reporting. The report may be looked into further and you no longer have to see what they are saying. This guilty until proven innocent nonsense has no place in an MMO that requires social interaction.

If he types in guild chat why he wants to report him, then that’s hard to deny.
If he doesn’t say why, then how many guildies are going to outright do that?

If i’m not mistaken, someone pointed out in another thread that the reason that player d/c’d was because of a general disconnection, not the report.

Because there is no other form of communication then ingame chat especially between friends and guildies… Cmon man get real.

someone posting on their twitter is not ‘proof’,lol. How do we know nothing else was going on, he wasn’t getting actioned for something else, or a bunch of other things that somehow he doesn’t supply.

And why did he not post in CS forums, or since you like his tweet , why not tweet that to BlizzardCS?
