False reporting and automated ban

These guys actually test the system:

Just a coincidence again?

Let’s get real then. If you’re doing this with your entire guild once, you’re going to be doing it multiple times. At which point GMs are going to be smart enough to realize you are abusing the system. Especially when they review the reports and find out that the only thing this person did was undercut you in trade chat.

Oh, right, the videos that actually show how to abuse the system are all coincidence? Each of them just happened to DC at the same time people right-click reported, right? Ok.

What if they are a bored retail player just wanting to spam to a captive audience? Being infamous is more fun for some than having a “good reputation”. (Same goes for bored vanilla/classic players spamming retail channels)

If you don’t think many players do it simply to be annoying, you should spend more time online.

Which streamer are you a drone of?

You think they are putting Sherlock Holmes on these cases? No, they are gonna review the case. Look at what he said, deem it was not squelch worthy and undo it. However who knows how long before his review occurs.

Why choose a system that has a chance to hurt innocent people then a system that is up to blizzards discretion to punish the offending party… Guilty until proven innocent doesn’t deserve to be in an MMO.

And as time goes on and more and more arrogant scoffers get their wake up call by being victimized by this abuse, subs will dwindle until classic is a ghost town.

Common sense, lol, and reading the CoC , ToS, various blue posts about abuse of any of the systems.

ok prove that nothing else was a factor, show the GM confirming that, show them asking telling a GM what happened , show them making a post in the CS forums about this if it was actually true it would be a huge bug in the system.

As far as I understand it: Squelch does not equate to Silence.

And he couldn’t possibly let them know why over discord, right?

they just showed how you get squelched, lol, they did not get silenced unless a GM reviewed it later and imposed a silence penalty as well.

You understand it incorrectly. Squelch and silence do the exact same thing, silence is just longer.

Bull, that guild would be a prime target for blizzard action. I doubt very much any legit guild would make such a blatant and boneheaded move.

Your only defense is, well they would be stupid to do that. Doesn’t mean they won’t or that blizzard would do anything about it anyway. In any case it would prove the point that a system that has a guilty until proven innocent approach has no point in being in a MMO.

Honestly i’m expecting people to abuse it.
And i’m expecting blizzard to be harsh and crack down on it and start banned the abusers. At which point it’s a win-win in my opinion.

Provide just ONE single example of any guild anywhere getting punished for abusing the system and I will have no more to say on the matter.

Ample evidence has already been provided proving abuse. Prove anyone, anywhere in the game ever got punished for abusing it.

I like the part where the video abruptly ends as he attempts to log back in.

And this is why these threads are 10 times longer than need be, because people like you, who when actually shown the system abuse in action, choose to bury your head in the sand. Lost cause. :v:

You’re paying attention to the wrong part. Go figure…

There should be ONE server for people who want right click reporting and everyone else can just avoid that server.
