I have 2 Battle.net Accounts, one for my son and one for me. I am just a casual player of World of Warcraft, and have been playing for about 20! years. Recently I was suspended on my account for six months on the accusation of possessing a Bot. I want to clarify that I have never used any such technology, ever! I have played every expansion without the need to hack or to cheat the system. This suspension, based on a false claim, has deeply disrupted my gaming experience. I am sure, I am not the only one that Blizzard has treated this way!
All you get from Blizzard when you bring this to their attention is an automated response with a link to their Policies. Where are the days of actually speaking to a real GM? Back in BC, they showed up in front of you and actually talked to you. Now you enter a ticket, wait 2 days and get an automated response.
So not sure who I pissed off to report me for flying around between Dungeon or Raid queues on my gather toon when I hop from mining node to mining node, or plant to plant, or on my fishing tune, when I fly around in circles going from one pool to another, but that is not botting, that is me wasting time between queues. So, I asked Blizzard for an apology and to restore my account as well as a month of game time for my hassles, but as you can guess, they don’t care. This game has become so toxic, it’s ridiculous.
Usually when this happens you can escalate it further so that you do speak to an actual GM. Based off my experiences lately.
I’m very sorry this happened to you.
Mmmhmmm. Go on.
If you got unfairly dinged, which seems unlikely but it can happen, then Blizzard will overturn your ban manually.
Making a petition and threatening to sue isn’t going to expediate a 48-72hr process.
While I do hope for a quick resolution to your issue - I think it might be better one you resolve with customer support and not create a thread with a petition link.
Please review guidelines:
But there are other platforms maybe where you post your grievances and could link it; Reddit/X/FB perhaps to garner support.
Good luck!
Before everyone starts reflexively scoffing at the idea of a false ban, it can definitely happen. I’ve personally been involved with about half a dozen false suspensions over the years. The worst of which was one where my friend received a suspension notice that wasn’t addressed to him, didn’t have his account info in the email and showed a quote from a character that wasn’t his. Yet he remained suspended for the full duration anyway.
Hope this works out quickly, it sucks when it’s so hard to just get to a human to explain the situation.
I have tried to escalate, but got their automated replies 3 times…
I have checked my computer manually for ANY such software, ran 2 different virus scanners as well, and got nothing. Unfortunatelly i got no where with Blizz. Although the break from gaming hasnt been all that bad, i just hate the unfair treatment.
Oh I 100% believe OP. I’ve had one major incident myself (showing screenshots, actions, everything to the contrary). But this thread could cause more issues than it resolves which is why I gave the advice I did.
I’m sorry :(.
If they silence this account too, then so be it. Can’t post anything on my account, and my son, isnt playing anymore either… Its just sad, that I spent almost 20 years being loyal to a game, and then this Spent money for every expansion, and the game time for all this time oh well…
Good luck with that. Trying to sue over property you have no legal claim to doesn’t usually turn out too well lol.
Yeah, one of the first things you see in their ToS is blizz restating that they can terminate your account at any time for any reason.
Blizzard can ban you because they disagree with who you think makes the best fries.
In and Out - Animal Style
We don’t have those where I live, so I reserve the right to ban you.
Yeah, where i live now, they dont have them either… but they were goooooood!
Just stop. You havent been discriminated against. You have no standing. You used a bot and got a suspension. Move on like an adult.
Surprised you stuck with it.
I had it happen to me once, and while the ban was overturned in less than 24 hours because it obviously was unfair, it still soured me on Blizzard quite significantly, to the point where I barely even paid for a month or two for several years.
I understand bans are necessary, but when you ban someone they are still human - and I think Blizzard should treat them like one. Be compassionate. You (Blizzard) are the one with the power, not them, so you don’t have to be a total jerk about it. That’s the very least you can do.
You still havent been discriminated against and have no standing.
After the 3 autoreplies, i gave up trying with them. It doesnt help… it just bothers me because someone reports me for something I didnt do I get banned for 6 months, but if you are in top 3 Guilds and cheat, its OK and get 3 days suspension…
People say this like they deserve some kind of a special achievement for this when it doesn’t matter how long you played, and no one cares.
Did you try to appeal?
That helps sometimes.
Even if your account is active now it’s still worth trying to get it overturned. A lot of people might tell you it’s useless and it’s a “done deal” at this point because you already served your suspension - but it’s not - for the simple reason that this mark stays on your account forever. Now they know they’ve banned you once for botting, and they’ll do it again.
Don’t threaten to sue though. That will get you nowhere. As someone who’s had to deal with such threats, I can tell you, I would instantly ban and block anyone who made such threats and they did not get a second chance period.
