Faerin class needed

They’re both dumb.

Ummm. Because Kargath is cool, and Faerin sucks? Like, sooo different.

Her shield is just a bridge too far. It obviously impractical and just straight up silly looking.

Close your eyes and picture an enemy swinging a large two handed weapon at her face. Now picture her somehow lifting that shield with shoulder nub to block it. Can you? I can’t.

I will admit, i never once wanted to Punch Kargath off a high cliff every time they opened their mouth. Huk Fin here tho, first chance I get.

I’m not gonna argue that the shield is practical, because it’s not. I already made fun of that in an earlier post in the thread.

The point is that most characters in this game are wearing obviously impractical equipment.

Funny how Faerin is the one who gets held to a higher standard.

Barely related, but I’d love a two hander + shield ‘hoplite’ style tank. After shaman tank, ofc.

One is cool, other is stupid

So long as I can go into epic BGs with 40 of them and form a proper phalanx formation.

I suspect that as she grew older and learned to use a sword she had an obvious vulnerability on the side missing an arm. I don’t see it as a shield as much as an additional bit of armor to help with her somewhat limited ability to deflect.

Stop thinking of it as a shield but rather as a way of compensating for an opponent that is trying to flank to her left. Obviously, a companion who fought on her left side would be better but that’s hard to guarantee if one is not fighting in formation.

She and her armor make perfect sense for a determined and stubborn person who cannot be convinced to stay out of harm’s way.

Cause Kargath cool.
Faerin not cool.

We all know why. If Faerin was a badass paladin man who adapted to losing his eye/arm as a child and used a shield instead everyone would be praising them for it and think it was cool and totally understand why they might not want to relearn their fighting skills with a prosthetic arm. But because she’s a woman we get “she’s whiny and annoying”.

Unfortunately correct. Probably racism also coming into play though, not just people disliking because woman

For sure, but the comments about her race were about how it’s not possible she could be a Lothar or something, and people just going off into weird eugenics stuff. It was honestly worse than the “she’s whiny and annoying” people, but there was definitely a lot of overlap there.

Kargath is a little baby who ran from war, hid in a fortress and tried to use hostages to stop his downfall. Then he gets a round 2 story and dies off rip as possibly the easiest first raid boss made.

I could go for a Lamplighter Paladin sub class fantasy, but would be cosmetic only.

War torn Paladin basically.

yes, perspective taking and empathy are hard skills to develop… That doesn’t mean she is a “political statement,” it only means you lack said skills.

Her reasoning makes perfect sense for a lot of players.

i thought it was cool.
but then i didnt like her walking back her own words in the story.

“i don’t need anything help the others instead”

“akchually i’d like shocks on my special shield and it’s gonna be complicated, thanks!”

then it wasnt cool anymore.

she got ruined by bad writing for me.

she’s kinda like the girl that says she wants no fries but then takes all your fries.

it’s generally harder for people (especially for boys) to take the perspective of a character when they are different in more than 1-2 traits.

Faerin being a black disabled woman with short hair might be just too much for some.

But maybe that is exactly why we need more characters like her. Someone has to teach these people basic empathy at some point.

Complaining about bad writing with garbage grammar and reading comprehension is peak irony…

my first language is french. i do what i can when it comes to english.
sorry it offends you good sir, i’m trying!

how’s your french?

I’m bilingual, too. Hablo español perfectamente. Busca una excusa mejor.

If you can’t write correctly, who are you to judge how others write it? What would you know about “good” writing?
