Faerin class needed

Probably help a lot them if they wore helmets.

Shield arms are unique and are rarely seen. At least it isnt as cliche as a sword arm.

What if the giant glowing crystal in the ceiling fell on her?

That would be amusing.

Would be such a waste of a zone then =( Hallow Fall is by far one of my fav zones ever.

Not at all. If she was one of the traits I mentioned, or even two, it wouldn’t be irregular. But you’re really going to tell me they didn’t make her a black female half-blind amputee largely for representation reasons? Of course they did lol

Most of you would be fine with that being the explicit reason, anyway. Blizz could say “We felt we had enough able white men so we wanted to change things up” and you’d think it was great. Not sure why it bothers you to point it out.

Why is it “Of course they did”? Because you want it to be that way?

God forbid a black female character be introduced and have a tragic accident in her backstory and it just be a character.

But you just have to push some agenda, and then insist everyone else is in on it.

edit:

And you know what? I don’t even care if it’s “virtue signaling” at this point because it’s a corporation and if I was going to be upset about every stupid thing a company did to make money I’d have died from an aneurysm years ago.

But it is absolutely telling that of all the variety of shenanigans companies pull to make money, YOU are upset about the idea of some kind of forced diversity.

Because the way her shileld is placed is silly and totally impractical. Yes, it’s a fantasy game but things need to at least appear functional to maintain a suspension of disbelief.

Brother she uses magic to fight gods and spiders it’s all impractical. Warriors use weapons so big they would be imposible to lift. Get over it.

Using a shield requires an arm. It doesn’t just hang there like deli meat and people are polite enough to strike at it.

Her design is fine, but they should have made her some kind of agile one-armed fencer. Which would be visually more interesting so see fighting in a cut scene.

And this game needs more rapiers.

Well, try to see whats different between the two :grimacing:

Tells you a bit about the people who complain about her

Better yet. How about you get your arm cut off, then fused with a clone of Faerin. arm to arm. Then you have a dual wielding shield class with no weapons.

No actual dps stats but you are the tankiest tank ever. You have an array of special taunts and the nore you get damaged the more you heal allies.

Again, things need to at least look usable. There’s no world where she could maneuver her shoulder in a way that would make using that shield make any sense. It looks goofy.

She’s a paladin. I’m a paladin. Both of us can block a ray of pure cosmic energy the fully envelopes us with a dinner plate the side of my head. This game has always looked goofy.

To be entirely fair while it’s fun to give Blizzard crap over stuff, a lot of armour in this game isn’t practical.

Thrall’s current outfit is also highly impractical from shoulderpads that wouldn’t allow much mobility in your arms to the fact that for some insane reason he’s decided not to cover up his vital organs while almost every other part of him is armoured.

but nobody seems to complain about that.

Faerin is cringe and lame and kargath is cool and badass. Not exactly a hard concept

not a fan of shield arm. even one of the
npcs that makes her stuff was trying to get her to use something more practical. she’s like nah…

why would you say no? you can easily remove the shield arm anyways and it’s better to learn to use a real arm for other means, just switch out lol. kinda dumb but meh.

This is a non argument. If she used a manifested shield of light to block things on her left no one would care because it makes sense in the setting.

Hey, she doesn’t even need to use the arm-shield anyway. She can just bubble, like ME!

I like that they gave us a character with a disability in a fantasy world and didn’t just immediately fix her. It’s the age-old conundrum, something I’d encounter in RP a lot: character has a problem that is important to their character, like blindness, and a misguided but ultimately well-meaning healer type character offers to fix it. Or the other character’s an engineer, or they can do it by some other magic, whatever the case, this is a pretty common situation if you play a character that is disabled.

Assistive devices are, of course, good. I couldn’t get around without a walker for a while; glasses are an assistive device. But not every assistive device is for everybody, nor does everybody want one. Especially when, like in Faerin’s case, your entire life has up to this moment been navigated without this thing you’re supposed to be missing.

Sledgehammer’s post earlier is really good, read the whole thing.

If you know people with disabilities they sometimes are hesitant to change their life and incorporate technology based solutions to “accommodate” their disability.

This character is well written and true to life.

You can still stab reliably with a knife strapped to a stump of a wrist. You can’t block effectively with a shield strapped to like 4 inches of arm. There is zero leverage. They should have made her arm missing just under the elbow, maybe like 4 inches worth. That’s my only gripe about her.
