You say this but the majority of Horde will reroll Human for EMFH during WOTLK, it happened before. History tends to repeat itself if allowed.
You’d think, but it isn’t playing out the way it did the first time. Private Wrath servers are still horde dominant.
while we are at it, bring warmode.
You are right, sorry that every aspect of this game is horde dominated now.
Finally, a sensible original post about this change. Blizzard is so hands-off with faction balance and I don’t understand when it’s such a core feature of the MMO. No faction-based transfers, no faction-locking fresh toons on PVP servers, no attempt to balance factions during name reservation, actually NOTHING. The ONLY organic in-game disincentive not to dog-pile the most populous faction was just removed and that’s that. No wonder the balance is a mess.
At the risk of further ruining the Classic Experience™, Horde and Alliance should just be able to random queue into and play on the same team as one another. It’d go horribly for a long, long time, but maybe we’d learn to get over our tribalism.
Probably not, but one can dream.
The Alliance racials are actually really good last I checked but Horde has an overall higher population because of the slow exodus from one faction to the other that’s been happening since MoP, so it’s easier to find like-minded individuals on Horde.
VERY well said. I wish the designers shared the understanding of the exact concept you just described.
In life there are things you can control and things you can’t. I can’t control that Horde are seen as the superior faction. I can’t control that their problems seem to be addressed more quickly. I can, however, control what faction I play on. I can play as the Alliance and either accept being the weaker faction, move to a server that we’re dominant and pray that that doesn’t change later(see Earthfury), or go PvE. The other option is to reroll Horde and not have to bother with any of these problems and go with the grace of the devs. Simple choice if you’re not being obstinate.
Given the huge number of changes that diverge from the original games implementation, there’s no reason they couldn’t tweak the existing alliance racials to have better pvp usage without breaking PVE cotent.
They could have a community racial flavor design contest and then use ideas from that change things up. I’m not talking about giving new racials but adding secondary effects to old ones that have pvp benefits. Things such as allowing shadowmeld to drop targets in combat and take reduced shadow damage or giving perception the ability to give extra dodge or miss rating to the enemy. Absolutely anything to make alliance more appealing to pvp. It would bring about a ton of community engagement
If Blizzard sees this they will probably send a survey out and see how much Alliance will pay for better racials on the store.
horde here, OP is right and i support his intent, i’d adjust certain solutions he’d propose but this is a purists vs retail tourists problem, if you’re a purist who believes in equal factions being a desirable goal and fair play, OP makes sense, if you’re not, go play retail because thats where you belong lol.
reading this thread and talking about it with my fer de herd pve hero wife
i said
"i wish blizz would give emfh and pre nerf WoD stoneform to ally and then open up faction transfers on tbcc. we’d see how quickly they’d loktar right into “kings honor, friend”
her response was
‘‘Lol no kidding’’
pve horde even in retail know what kind of professional whiners yall are and how you guys consistently do everything you can to manipulate blizz into catering to your wants. it’s not just a pvp ally vs pvp horde thing. its an everyone else vs pvp horde whiners thing.
joke’s on you then- i’m an alliance retailer!
that doesn’t stop you from being a max level zug zug horde pvp whiner in classic.
true, but i don’t whine. i actually give examples, reasons, and facts to back my opinions; it’s not just some rant saying, “free hat!” and that’s it.
no offense, but all you zugs look the same to me (i say while also posting on an orc warlock. don’t @me )
Thank you.
I’m not wedded to any of the proposed solutions. My point is not to point out a single best implementation that must be adhered to, rather that there are a range of options available that actually address the root cause pressures causing PvP players to concentrate on a single faction.
In game incentives ARE possible to have two balanced factions, instead of removing the last remaining reason NOT to go Horde for PvP.
This is the way!!
You did not address his point and arguments at all.
