Tanks need to do homework and be group leaders.
Those are the biggest contributing factors to limiting the population of m+ tanks for people who have little or no experiance tanking.
For people who have done it, they tend to have or develop a series or contacts. This means pug tanks leave the pug scene over time.

Also donât you find it absolute nonsense an pres-evoker can jump in and tap their aoe and be at 800k+ HPS on bosses? Or how shamans can cleanse, aoe, 1mill hps? WHile an hpal has to start sweating past an 5+?

Pugs this come around are for some reason EXTREMELY toxic as well. You either get a healer that canât keep up, or some straggler of a dps that think their crap dont stink, or a tank that is WAY UNDERGEARED that thinks they can do a 4+

At a +5, pretty sure thatâs skill issue.
I got my solution, I wonât pug.
I wonât even tank for anyone who isnât in guild or a friend.
The community did this to me. Fix that 1st.

Extremely toxic? Failure isnât toxic. Itâs just a part of the learning process. 69 deaths in Siege of Boralus. No one raged at each other.

Thatâs a reason people donât tank right there; Players now think all tanks are leaders and I find that funny.

/sarcasm blizzard removed the /spit emote how is the game still toxic
i believe mythic + culture is the root cause. timed dungeon runs force players into this mindset. people will always want to clear content fast but incentivizing it is the main cause.

I feel like you get me. I rolled a prot paladin as my main the first day of TBC and never looked back (until Classic WoW). Each expac I used to hit the internet and study every dungeon boss before I went in the first time so that Iâd know something about what I was up against, but getting to know a new dungeon is still a process. I did have a guild but there wasnât much left of them still playing by Cata. By the beginning of MoP I just decided not to run instanced content with pugs anymore because I didnât want to deal with the dice roll of finding out if the group I joined would be willing to practice a little patience while I was learning. I kinda developed a complex that if I didnât learn every new instance within a week of launch I might as well skip the expac because nobody wanted to wait for me.
Now I have delves and follower dungeons which I think are great. Iâve been running both solo and with a few friends I met in my Classic guild. But I still havenât come up with the guts to queue for any instanced content with pugs yet. Iâm thinking over possibly some normal or heroic dungeons, but even some of my friends wonât go if thereâs pugs. Or if they have to queue solo. Apparently some of them have developed the same complex I have, afraid to deal with pugs.

What youâre seeing is the solution. Tanks got sick of taking garbage from pug groups where one DPS said they went too slow, the other said they went too fast and one pulled mobs, and the other lagged behind.
They realised they didnât need to pug and stopped doing it.
Enjoy the queues that were created by DPS who refused to play nice.

Need to introduce another tank class.
That wouldâve been the play.
A brand new class that has only tank specs, no dps or heal specs.
still wouldnât have worked. Itâs the role itself, not the class.

Yea⌠not gonna work. You might get a spike in normal tanks, but not for the rest of the game.
Idk⌠give em something super tempting and awesome.
Double shield tank spec
Shield + 2h tank spec
That would draw quite a few as a class with 2 tank specs.
Tanks new to tank class. Overall tank population is the same.
Tanking is too much stress especially M+. Timers, having to know routes and exactly how many packs to pull, mechanics, affixes. Then add in dealing with other people and their shenaniganâs. But hey like other people have said, be the solution and roll up a tank and pick up all those groups waiting for you!

Failing isnât what Iâm talking about bud. Pop off though.
Your logic makes no sense. This is more about people not wanting to tank because tanks get poorly treated. Youâre basically asking blizz to make a tank only spec that no one will touch because no one wants to tank till the community learns to be nice.
Which is most likely never.

- Remove the completion % and timer from low Mythic+ so the tank isnât force to take a specifically optimized route. Add each back separately with one of the affixes so that there is time to learn and optimize while experiencing the mechanics. This offloads some of the anxiety from tanks being forced into the âleaderâ role and actually more accurately ramps up difficulty.
- Make Heroic and Normal actual tutorials for mythic. They shouldnât be face-roll easy, but they shouldnât be hard either. Right now people are jumping from Heroic to Mythic 0âs and have no idea what some of the boss mechanics are. I just found out that the boss from the Rookery pulls the iron block back across the floor after itâs sent the first time. I never knew that was possible. Many other dungeons have similar issues.
- Provide some kind of queue incentive for going as a tank - augment stones, gold, etc.
- Lower the floor for failure - currently the result of a failed key is only 1 piece of loot drops if completed, or the difficulty drops down by one when you abandon it. TBH, it should be something for everyone (even if itâs just gold or a free repair) on a completed key that isnât time, and guaranteed loot for everyone if successful.
The only other solution is one the devs canât implement: The community as a whole is toxic and abusive. Fix that âme me meâ focus and actually be patient and understanding.

All that will do is create a short-lived burst of new tanks that will rapidly dwindle as they realise how badly they get treated as tanks.
Then everything returns to the status quo.
