Extreme Tank shortage

They’re doing that because you’re not allowing them to do 5 billion dps, so they’re tilting. They’re not crying because they might not time the key. It’s pettiness.

I feel you on that, just remember though, it does get better. It’s rough this season because mythics really throw you into the fire with very little Lee-way for failure since +2’s are 10’s.

My experience as a WoW player-
I usually will level 1 tank each xpac.(I main DPS) the following is why I don’t tank after hitting level cap for the most part.

  1. DPS whining about pace, route etc. I let heals set pace I’d rather not waste time with a wipe. The time saved pulling 4 packs at once over 3 isn’t worth it usually. Unless Healer says do more.

  2. Homework, not going to subject myself to finding the optimal route on every dungeon as they evolve in Mythic +. I don’t mind learning as I go go but too many impolite players freak out if you deviate from the meta.

  3. If i did tank beyond heroics it would be with a guild/friend group due to previous 2 reasons.

If you want more tanks then you should thank them for tanking and try being polite, this shortage is partially the communities own creation.

Funny watching people complain about lack of tanks when their class can tank.

I’d much rather PuG than schedule my time in WoW around friends / guild. I can PuG 24/7/365 without ever having to do that.

I enjoy playing a tank. It’s a lot of fun in Delves, open world, dungeons, etc.

That said, I refuse to do it in PUGs. With friends or guildies? Absolutely.

Not touching random groups in content above leveling dungeons.

Might get better in a couple of months. On my bear druid, I’m still working delves (608 atm) and I find M+ PuGs very stressful (AND pointless until M7), so I do maybe 5 runs a week, generally just one dungeon (cuz I simply don’t know 8 full paths, every pull, every mechanic) yet. But over the next year, sure, I’ll tank em all in PuGs.

M26 of old not high enough for you?

This right here folks ^

that’s why people say M+ people are toxic asf. You could let the player know, but nah, brick the key and screw everyone.

I am to the point if dps are standing in fire and the healer bricks my key by refusing to heal them for being bad I will cheer the healer on.

This is exactly how we used to train people in dungeons back in vanilla/TBC.

If I’m in a M+ Dungeon, I expect you to know what you’re supposed to do. If you don’t, then watch a video or run a heroic M0. I wouldn’t ever do that in a learning environment.

That’s equally as toxic, maybe learn to talk to other players in a civil manner instead of cheering on a brick wasting everyone’s time.

We need them to nerf more because vod forbids tanks can tank stuff.

Tanks can tank stuff. They just can’t live forever.

And that’s boring. DPS can hit all day long and fulfill their fantasy of seeing big numbers, while we tanks can’t even get that feeling anymore, instead, we need a healer to babysit us.
At least make those changes for high keys, there’s no reason for low and mid keys to be so punishing for mistakes, unlike before, when we could tank a lot without a care.

Because immortal tanks make the game not fun for other people.

It’s not twice as hard. If anything, it’s easier. There’s no necrotic, no sanguine, no bolstering, no skittish. The xal’atath affixes aren’t anywhere near as restrictive as prideful. Oddly enough however I think I enjoyed M+ tanking more in Legion and BFA though.

So do melee dps who don’t interrupt, or ranged dps who pull - but it seems we’re not attempting to solve those problems.

DPS specs in particular may get tuning changes, relative to each other but don’t have their tuning in relation to the content affected anywhere near as much as tanks and healing.

Unfortunately tanking has become extremely boring even in M+. You try hitting thrash, maul, mangle abilities over and over and over for unbearable 4 minute tyrannical boss fights and you will quickly experience one of the reasons that people are not enjoying tanking. Waiting for the DPS to kill the boss is about as fun as watching paint dry. My fellow tanks know exactly the feeling I am talking about. It’s unbearable.

Where does the tank come in that fun? If I’m playing tank, I don’t see the appeal if all I’m there for is the fun of others. I think I could find something else to do which seems to be the problem.
