Idk, I feel pretty cool dropping a giant light hammer on something’s head after throwin’ Tyr’s glory in something’s face.
What? You think tanking is skill-less? You are the reason this is such a problem - you are clueless and unappreciative in the fact that tanking might actually be a lot harder than you playing your class but don’t care to imagine that being the case.
Have you played a tank in M+ dungeons? heh
I would tank if people weren’t pulling things before I do.
I would tank if people didn’t complain about the pace.
I would tank if healers also healed DPS, I find myself off-healing when I tank out of courtesy but recently it’s been necessary because the heals would only heal themselves and expect me to heal myself lmao. I don’t mind healing but come on.
As a long time tank main, I’ve almost entirely stopped tanking for pugs, nearly all of my keys are full guild groups these days. I’ll do keys with one other friend and then pug the rest but no full pug runs, its not worth it.
On my dps alts I’ve pugged a bit, what a nightmare, 20-30 minutes of applying for keys with no invites, then when you finally get one, sit around for 10 minutes waiting on a healer or tank, then get removed from the group without any notice. Real fun!
And the guardian druid’s hammer? Or warrior? Paladins do look cool (finally). Playing protection warrior made me real jealous but beyond that skill or two? And are people playing protection paladin because of the cool factor or are they more fun tanks. I’ve a soft spot for warrior but there’s a reason my paladin is better geared now. I have no idea why people play druid at all (though I have one) but looking like a paw swipe for every single skill is problematic to me.
Why don’t you play a tank?
Same here. I’m also about to stop healing for pugs too, lol.
There is no “incentive” or “fix” that Blizzard can do, tbh, that would force me back into tanking for pugs.
Mountain Thane is pretty good too imo. I just play any song relating to electricity and stomp my tauren way through keys. I can change to my warrior if you like.
(Have every tank at 80, warrior and pally near 1900 mostly all pugs. DK at 1k for creds)
Druids call down a giant arcane beam. Shoulda called it “Khadgar’s Wrath”.
This is my warrior, btw.
Love,
Porro
I’ve played tank for a long time and today I still play but only with friends and Guild, tanking has a very big responsibility and you have to enjoy this role because before you enter an M+ you have to already have your route in your mind, you must have watched videos to see what the dungeon is like or have done this dungeon at least twice that is non-heroic to do the mythical, know which adds to kill, the mechanics of each mini boss and boss.
When you add all this up, entering a dungeon and people telling you that you’re doing it wrong or that you’re slowing down, you get discouraged.
As someone who will fill in as a tank (or healer) when needed I don’t need to pug.
I know enough people that will happily run keys with me.
It takes me less than 5 min to put a group together.
If I am pugging to fill a spot Im usually taking the highest rated, most geared, meta spec, with the most interrupts because even if they are average at best they at least accidently bring something of value to the party. Im looking at you AugVokers
Exactly. What player in their right mind wants to prep for a video game only to be scoffed at by a PUG full of people they really don’t know? LMAO. Incentives won’t change anything if players aren’t self-motivated to learn the craft and suffer the masses of ungrateful DPS.
This. I’d need something worth the stress I’ll have to endure if I’m going to consider it. I’m pretty sure this is almost a universal thing for anyone who doesn’t love unnecessary stress.
I have immense respect for good tanks. They have special personalities.
That’s what I went with on my warrior also. I’d actually like more but it is a step in the right direction in my opinion. That’s not to say it will help with tank shortage but what they currently are doing isn’t helping.
-_- I know what this means.
I went tank and it took about half a dozen M+ to realize that there were better ways that I could spend my time. Why? Everyone was pulling, and the healers were stressing.
I get that you have to time, but everyone wants things faster. Get it over with and re-queue. Faster. Wipe? Leave. Zero thought into the run, just face pull and go,go,go.
Also wanted to add, tanks are fairly easy to get in FFXIV. There is a shortage as well but you don’t wait nearly as long for one there as you do in WoW. And the same DPS comments on your tanking still happen. But in a group waiting on a tank I know even if they’re bad as long as they are tank spec we’re going to be able to do the content. A bad tank in WoW does not come with that guarantee.
they dumbed it down to much
