The solution is staring you right in the face, OP. Youâre a druid. Spec Guardian, go tank keys, and then youâll see why we donât tank for pugs. The onus isnât on Blizzard for pugs to become better humans on the other end of the screen.
Be the change you want to see in your community. If you want tanks to stick around, call out crappy humans when you encounter them. Many people deal with that kind of behavior at work or in our home life. Itâs not acceptable in any setting, let alone an environment intended for people to come together, have fun, and escape the real world for a time.
They added a much easier route to get mid game gear.
They keep moving the goalposts in terms of what you need for crests and vault.
They keep turning the crazy knob up on the mechanics and visuals.
They got rid of what used to be the +2-+10 ramp up and learning keys.
So your average M+ players, competent in the +1-6 range, has very little reason to run M+ anymore. Thereâs a much easier place to get the low end gear and the goal posts got moved past the point of fun or comfortable game play.
I still think you guys really donât understand why Blizzard made these changes. Loot acquisition under the old system was just so so fast. Low skilled players would farm low keys and be geared out in a week or 2, well geared enough for their play style.
I think Blizzard is trying to stretch out seasons to be longer, or stretch out engagement.
M+ has been a huge thorn in the side of the game for some time.
Itâs very simple. When the tank is entirely self-sufficient they donât need the rest of the group. So, they stop caring about the rest of the group. Immortal tanks would do massive pulls without regard for AoE, interrupt requirements or missed mobs. This leads to the rest of the group dying while the immortal tank carries on. This is, obviously, not fun for anyone but the tank.
Yeah this doesnt happen in anything beyond trivial content.
In m+ you need the rest of the group to help with interrupts and stops and the DPS if you dont want a dungeon taking 6x longer than it needs to.
DPS WANT to DPS. They WANT to see big numbers. The larger the pull, the more youâre helping them with their desires. These AoEs that theyâre dying to, is half their fault for not using their stops.
Any missed interrupts and spells that go off, let healers get to do what theyve been crying for: to heal something. And they get 20-25% more to distribute amongst the rest of the group.
In anything beyond m0, this doesnt happen. Even with the tanking nerfs, tanks are self sufficient and doing pulling full rooms in the content this is allowed in.
Again, this doesnt happen in pre-made content. So that leave Normal and Heroic dungeons.
Know what was changed because it was underused and underutilized? It was in that link i sent you.
Thats right. Heroic dungeons. There was hardly a use for it, so no one used it outside of the first few weeks of an expansion. So they took the other things that were under utilized and wrapped them into Heroic dungeons.
So noâŠits not some wide epidemic. It happens in a small percent of group content. And although its entirely anecdotal, with all of my runs regardless of role since theyve implemented world scaling, 99% (if not more) have been thankful for the speed run that comes with âimmortalâ tanks.
The funny part is you think this is restricted to tanks⊠i was able to do this with Fury Warrior and Ret Paladins in Normal/Heroic dungeons as wellâŠwith no complaints but quite a few thanks instead.
I admire you for sticking to your guns and not backing downâŠbut the opposite 1% is what youre trying to stand against?
This is part of it, but honestly tanking can be a bit no-win. We are a bit more fragile, but outside of very high keys I still feel moderately sturdy. What bothers me the most when pugging is how there are wildly inconsistent expectations. I pull carefully, a pack or two at a time? Billy the Rogue decides itâs now his job to pull and starting adding in trash packs. I pull faster and we wipe? Itâs all my fault for pulling like a lunatic.
When tanking for strangers, you are most often going to be the one shouldering blame when just about anything goes wrong. And if itâs not the tank, itâs the healer. Billy is almost never going to admit heâs the weak link here.
âGiven the combination of two underutilized difficulties, and a gap in meeting player demand, weâre restructuring dungeon difficulty and rewards in Season 4â
