What they’ve proposed is good but rating gated is still really bad and makes no sense.

Like i’m 2100 so now I can upgrade my honor gear to 249? Lmao who cares?

Solution is so simple man, like everyone has said a million times:

1 honor set, 1 conquest set.

Set ilvl for both that scales in PvP combat and is not rating gated whatsoever.

As long as ilvl is going to make as large of a difference as it makes, then there is no room for rating gated upgrades.

Imagine the flood of players coming back because pvp was fun again…

Your gear system suggestion removes the avenue for vast token sales from PVP carries. What are you? Crazy? lol

Idk man I don’t buy in to this conspiracy theory.

The reason it’s not tangable is because it would require blizzard be aware of the current state of what’s happening on the ladder and in PvP in general.

They’ve proven they dont’ understand simple mechanical and class tuning, why would they realize a nuance on the ladder that is token sales for carries.

Also the reality is that there is way less “carrying” going on then people pretend like there is, and an even smaller percentage of these carries are being bought with gold.

Less than 1% of the games I play are clear “carries”.

i think this is too complex

youre missing the 10 pointless ranks inbetween , buddy!

all the other changes theyve said have been really good atleast so maybe it will start moving in the right direction

Yes its sad.

This was basically what we had in TBC, WLK, Cata, MoP, and WoD. Even the casuals can earn a full set of Conquest gear by doing their weekly yolo. Casuals just earned the set slower than highly ranked players. Very few PvPers ever felt the need to buy carries.

The current Shadowlands system ties ilevel to ranking, basically encouraging players to buy carries. It’s the cause of a lot of problems.

I like the current gear system better because it’s more meritocratic.

You can get conquest from BGs and from 2400 3s game. You need some sort of differentiation in gear between the two still, because there’s a huge discrepancy in the effort and difficulty of these two different types of content.

Without that, it seems there’s little reason / reward for playing well and for playing harder content.

And that was the most fun I have ever had in PVP in this game. The gearing was actually fun, not a chore.

Yeah I think WoD had a pretty good model.

The reward for playing well is the title and achievement

I’m pretty sure most conquest gear had a rating requirement up until like at least cata and even then weapons had a higher req until like mop or wod.

I think the real difference is that gear mattered a lot less and the item level gaps weren’t as ridiculous as you see today so competing in honor gear wasn’t such a huge handicap

Also carries were rampant all throughout those times and let’s not forget all the kickbotting and lock scripting

MoP removed Elite ilvl upgrades, Elite was Tmog only. WoD introduced scaling on PvP Honor and Conq gear. My preferred model would be a pure stat template with allocable stats, but I know thats probably never coming, the next best is the WoD model.

Yeah WoD is essentially a slightly delayed stat template model.

Its not. its actually anti-meritocratic. By creating these plateaus where you upgrade gear, you create artificial hurdles for people to over come. a 2100 player with a CR of 2099 and 1800 gear is flat out going to be at a disadvantage against a 2100 player with a CR of 2100.

no that doesnt mean it makes people hard stuck at that rating, BUT you do have that invisible barrier to get past. and theres just no reason for it.

That’s not even to take into consideration cross PvP acquisition. People can be easily carried in RBGS to 1800, get gear and be perma stuck around 1400-1600 in 2s/3s with gear that vastly outweighs the bracket. Bottom line, the gear discrepancy is not good at all for the game.

Made an account for the first time ever just to put my 2¢ in about the gearing changes, and imo I think it shows that blizzard is willing to back the people not willing to put in the work to get good gear, and punishing those who have already gotten the gear by ignoring them completely and/or lowering their iLvl if not in the new brackets. Also, from a season one glad perspective, it is an absolutely awful idea to give those players at 2400 a further advantage over the rest of I use your own logic. But hey, I’m just somebody who plays solely for pvp and actually earns gear instead of crying for it. This change is garbage, I hope the devs see this message even though they will ignore it to appease the majority. Have a good night everyone

Keep conquest gear at 246 in pve we still need ilvl for torgahst and pve in general bro
