If you rolled an Evoker and hate the dracthyr form and want to be in visage all the time, then I’m sorry but you’re not a very bright person. There’s no way you can enjoy an Evoker and not enjoy the draconic aspects that go with it, because the vast majority of their spells incorporate the draconic body in some form.
Roll a Mage. It has fire, frost, arcane, and time magic, and you won’t have to ever see the dracthyr form ever again.
Like, you know for a fact this isn’t true because there are literally people in this thread telling you it isn’t true. The same way A LOT of people hated the aesthetic of their covenant in Shadowlands but chose it anyway because they liked the gameplay from the abilities.
I’d still like the mechanics of Evoker even if it wasn’t dragon themed. It being related to dragons is completely irrelevant to liking the gameplay loop.
I think people would like it more if the dracthyr animations were better, mog between dragon/visage were separated, dragon form had even more customization.
BUT…
I will say this after thinking about it and listening to what Lemonbrew has said, I think it should be an option for fighting in humanoid form and only dracthyr when doing things a dragon would have to do. I could live with an option like that. After all, aren’t more options better in the long run?
But the majority of the key mechanics and abilities are dragon themed. Eliminating the dragon theme removes class mainstays like Disintegrate, Azure Strike, Deep Breath, Obsidian Scales, Hover, and Pyre. You remove the dragon theme and you got a Mage with a tacked on Restoration Druid spec.
I agree Shaleraz that based on the amount of dragon spells, which I mean spells that require a dragon form, you won’t see visage too much at all as an Evoker.
I’d like to see Blizzard give us more Dracthyr forms. I’d love the Void Dracthyr that Sakareth turned into, or some Primal-based Dracthyr forms where we can look elemental. I think that would alleviate this nonsense a bit.
