I’m not talking PvP, I’m talking PvE. We take so much more damage than everybody else when partywide damage goes out that it genuinely feels like a bug, and I’ve seen so many evokers in game mention this as well. What is going on, Blizzard?
It’s not just you. In the overworld I play Pvoker just to be able to survive more than 3 mobs at once. No other character of mine has to sweat like this.
That’s rough to deal with. I can imagine being a caster with a limited radius has huge flaws.
I do find I’m better off as Guardian in the open world than Balance. I DoT everything up and they just hit so hard.
I’m mainly talking about just dungeon party-wide damage, things that burst etc. Out in the world it’s kinda whatever, we can just nuke 10 mobs at once with CDs if we want, but in dungeons and raids it just feels like we get smacked so much harder than everybody else. I’m 8/8N 4/8H, 390 with 1500 m+ rating and everytime damage goes out and I look at the raid frames, the evokers are always lower than everybody else by a good 20%.
I 1000% agree, i take a ton of dmg a single spell wipes off 70% of my hp
Even by caster standards it feels off. I exclusively play ranged minus guardian.
The only times I’ve ever felt this squishy was Vanilla priest pre level 20 and Legion shadow priest mid leveling. Basically “incomplete shadowpriest toolkit during times of poor balance” isn’t a very Hero Class-ey feel.
Not just you. Evokers are incredibly squishy.
It also compounds with the fact that we’re essentially stationary if we aren’t hovering, yet also have to deal with everything in melee.
The horribly limited cast range and how three hits takes my health bar down by half is making me not want to play Evoker anymore tbh.
Fantasy: highly mobile caster
Reality: MM hunter from Wish
Let me introduce you to a thread I made 20 days ago.
I made the choice of making Evoker my main, i put all my cards in Evoker and expected it to be a lot stronger for a hero class.
Once Dragonrage is on CD my DPS averages 21k when other classes can easily sustain 10k DPS more than me
I have to waste time healing myself when i take dmg cause the aoe heal alone is not enough and I can’t count on procs from Living flame. Biggest problem is that we seem unable to survive UNPREDICTABLE dmg
The short range is pretty annoying and fights seem to be especially punishing for high mobility classes like Evokers (see spider boss in VOTI and Ruby life pools bosses)
I think they were afraid of making them OP and went too far the other way. They need buffs all around.
I’m even more peeved about the DPS especially on single target being so low
lm-mf-ao!!
Eh, I think it’s actually fine, I’ve been surprised by the single-target dps. I can be in the top 3 for Heroic Terros everytime and number 1 if I get lucky essence procs. M+ bosses I’m in 1st quite a lot against other ~390 classes. I don’t want this post to turn into a bandwagon for Evoker complaints, I genuinely just think we are taking higher than normal damage from group-wide damage.
I don’t think the single target damage is where it should be. They’re consistently on the lower end of the damage tables on Mythic+ and raids.
is it possible the lack of practice can have anything to do with it?
im rarely stellar in the first month of a new toon.
No. You forget some people played beta for months.
The rotation’s damage is so dependent on long CD’s that a single missed skill, or in the event of most bosses having to switch tactics, can drop an Evoker to the bottom.
The damage is also heavily reliant on RNG, more than it should be and their primary skill consumes the same amount of resource whether or not it’s been allowed to cast for its full duration.
Their in between spell is on a long cast and only has %20 chance to proc their resource spender.
Means that if RNG is bad to you, or you have to move at all, your damage is gone.
Well we have to have all these negatives to balance out our totally op mobility as a caster
Tbh though wouldn’t be surprised if thats the reason though like Blizzard have it out for Dracthyr.
