Here’s the thing though Lore, does the Black Dragonflight mean tanking? Does those abilities mean tanking abilities?

Yes
Black Dragonflight is gifted with the power over Earth
Earth is consistently attributed to tanking
Shaman’s Earth Elemental is literally a tank
It has been a consistent request by Shamans to have an Earth based tank for example
Evokers already have Black Dragonflight, earth based, abilities that make them more tanky
Etc etc.
Of all the dragonflights, yes the Black Dragonflight does mean tanking
Same as how the Blue mean ranged magic and the Green mean healing.
It’s a theme that has been established.

Though i would not mind they developed a tank spec for evoker. Still we need warrior dracthyrs for sure at least!
But where does Earth mean tanking? Yes, Shaman can summon an “Earth Elemental” to fight with them and take any agro off mobs for a short period of time, but that doesn’t mean Earth = Tanking. Shamans also use Earth abilities to do damage too, I should also add.

They were assigned by the Titans to protect, moreso than the other dragonflights.
And my point is that because the Black Dragonflight has mastery over the earth, that does make them more aligned to tanking (because of the nature of earth) than the other flights and thus why the tank spec would be primarily Black Dragonflight themed.

But that is not saying the Black Dragonflight means tanking.
The Black Dragonflight are protectors (just as tanks) and they have mastery over Earth (which is the most tanky of domains)
Again, it’s why the tanky abilities of the Evoker are Black Dragonflight/Earth aligned.
And all this still without mentioning that draconic scales in general are incredibly durable.
Scales of the Black Dragonflight most of all are cited to be relatively indestructible

Every Dragonflight Aspect is classed as protectors. Does that mean all of them mean tanking spec? Sorry, but not sorry, but this is a very week arguement to make over this.
You mean Defensive Abilities? Just like how Shaman also uses Earth to also do damage as well. Earth Element doesn’t mean a tank.
Ok, so where does the Dracthyr have scales of the Black Dragonflight now?

I just put myself through a horrible case of PTSD for that. Basically, Earth is noted for being defensive because it’s well, it’s earth, rock, hard stuff. Black Dragons were given mastery over all things Earth, Hell the Obsidian Scales ability is a defensive damage reduction and it’s listed as Black dragon magic.

I very specifically stated that they are protectors moreso than the others
Their domain is to protect the planet at a whole, whereas the others simply protect time/life/magic for the planet

Dracthyr Evokers have access to all scales, including Black
Earth Element leans more to tanking than any other element
I again return to the same phrase: “Magic is versatile and can do anything if you use your imagination”
Nothing stops an Evoker from using their Earth aligned powers from the Black Dragonflight essence within them to use Earth based magic to tank

Just because a cosmic force/element can be used multiple ways (defensively and offensively) doesn’t mean it doesn’t lean one way or another
Life magic can be used both ways, but leans defensively in a healer form
Earth magic is the same, but again leans defensively in a tank form
Nothing stops Evokers from using their Red Dragonflight powers to tank either, but it’s much less of a tank aligned flight than Black as I have multiple times explained regarding their alignments.
Heck, it’s even described in the Day of the Dragon novel that Black and Red dragons have an aspect of their scales to where the more damage they take the more tanky they become which is the reason Alexstrasza chose to fight Deathwing on her own since she was on his level of tank-y-ness physically
Multiple times have members of the Black Dragonflight used their earth based powers to bolster their tank-y-ness. Infusing themselves with rock, obsidian, magma, and other forms of barriers. Again, Earth is the tanky domain. It can be used offensively and defensively but leans defensively.
Chronicles even defines Earth as being the element of stability, which aligns with what a tank exemplifies.

Was just in a group and the tank left, and it took nearly a half hour to replace them.
As someone that prefers to tank, my Evoker would have been able to take care of it immediately

There won’t be evoker tanks because Blizzard has never given classes any additional specs (not counting the Feral/Guardian split), and tanking is completely contradictory to the class’s playstyle of a mobile fighter with only a few self-heals and two racials as defensive options. It doesn’t even have any damaging melee spells because it’s not a melee class, which every other tank class is. I don’t care if the “lore” supports it.
The last three classes all had tank specs, giving tanks 6 options even if only half of them tend to be viable, yet people still refuse to tank on classes that can do it and then complain about the lack of tanks. The first new healer in 10 years not being able to tank won’t kill any dedicated tank players, but hopefully, warrior is opened up to dracthyr somewhere down the line so the “dracthyr need to be able to tank” crowd will go quiet.

After playing with the evoker in the starting scenario, I no longer think a tank spec fits. I wouldn’t object, but I think a melee caster similar to enhancement (but dragon power focused) makes more sense for the class.
Instead of giving evokers a tank spec, I would rather them be able to be warriors, rogues, and hunters. Cheers. 
I find myself in the opposite boat. After playing through and fiddling with them a bit I am more than ever sure that a tank spec based on the Black Dragonflight, naturally with a mix of some other flights abilities like all other specs, would be ideal for Evokers.
I think and will continue to request that Blizzard should add a tank spec to the evoker.

Evokers definitely feel like they are missing something. I feel like as long as it’s melee oriented, I will be happy (whether tank or dps).

I saw someone say that Evoker tanks would be op due to it giving a tank spec access to hero. I don’t agree. We already have tanks that can battle rez and healers that can brez and hero. It wouldn’t make an evoker tank op.
