Okay. Did you complete any of the Mage tower challenges when they first came out?
If you didn’t. When did you complete them? When it was another tier later? When the Netherlight Crucible came out and they became a joke?
That already exists. You can get 460 complete outside of doing raids or even hard M+ content. You can go and do outdated content solo and get mythic gear xmogs?
How is that any different than the Mage Tower you describe? In fact, only the Mage Tower made you miss out on xmogs once the expansion was over. You can literally get all the xmogs and mounts from ICC Heroic solo.
Btw - timewalking is a joke. I bet more people clear Timewalking dungeons and TW raids than LFR N’zoth.
I most certainly did, immediately on my DH at a very low item level, without proper legendaries. Took me 60 attempts. Extraordinarily fun, I could do it in my sleep still.
By “timewalking” I mean scaled content. Just like the visions have become a joke. Make them stay the same difficulty.
There’s your answer to a path for progress, without taking away difficulty, still making it “feel” good when you finally did the good work.
You can get, without ever once grouping with a single soul, get gear the same or even higher level than every raid save the last one. And there are probably examples where you can even match that gear.
Except, In Classic, Epics didnt matter. There was blues better than epics. Thats why no one was in full purples, not becuase “You cant get Epicz”
WOW became THE mmo because it was Causual, it was MUCH more causual than any other MMO at the time.
Thats why this game is still here. And listening to and catering to the 1% is why we are where we are now. With a shell of its former self, a truly dead game compared to what it once was.
This is the other extreme. He isn’t a 1%er, he has a single CE on a DH with full sockets/corruption.
I like to hear a spectrum of ideas. I remember stepping into Sunwell day 1, STRUGGLING through Muru week 3, and seeing the vendor outside with “epic” gear and having my mind blown that people who had not raided were being rewarded in that way.
But they didn’t get the trinkets, the set bonuses, or just the pure joy of clearing with friends. So in the end, our reward was much greater than their “welfare” epics, as they were once called.
And honestly, everyone deserves fun in their way. Maybe they loved doing the quests, grinding the rep, all that sort of thing. And that’s OK.
Because that achievement first procced on my priest on that date. It is account wide, but I completed the mage tower appearances on many, many, many characters.
But isn’t there? You can literally get Heroic gear and Mythic Azerite at around the halfway mark of the tier. You can farm all the same corruption and you can solo to get 470 gear which is almost Mythic.
How are you literally not able to get Mythic tier gear outside of raids and doing easier content (Visions, Heroic WFs, random bg queuing)?
You guys want to get high-end gear w/out doing high-end content. Seems like that already exists.
That is just silly then. Those are really stepping stones to get you geared enough to get your feet wet in the content you want to do without getting absolutely annihilated.
