More than likely for time played metrics to be honest. I don’t play alts for a reason. I don’t want to do the same content on 10 different characters. For people who play alts you knew what you were getting into. People keep asking blizzard to change it and they won’t.
Dude it takes like a week for an alt to get any rank 1 essence. Just suck it up and do the content lol.
Did you notice how 8.3 altered the strength or how you get any essence tied to 8.2 content?
Mecha rep - rep required cut 50%. Spare crate and oscillators nerfed by 50%. BoA rep tokens purchasable.
Nazj rep - rep required cut by 50%. BoA rep tokens purchasable.
Body guard level - reduced (don’t remember %).
AEP raid essence - nerfed to not be BiS.
And also 8.3 introduced 3 new essences, two of which are very strong and can take up 1 or 2 of the 4 slots.

you’re right, the acquisition for corrupted BOE is much easier and accessible if you’re willing to spend $$ and can overpower essences. Essences do not make characters overpowered, corruption does. Corruption allows players to do damage for content they would never even walk into otherwise.
100% it does. But that’s what the system is. I’m not sure what you are arguing at this point. Go buy a bunch of BoE’s for your alts then?
Then why are we having this conversation? Forget grinding for essences and just get your alts corruption. Profit!
rank 1 is not rank 3. I’ve gotten r3 bote on 2 toons and i promise you dumping money on corrupted BOEs is much easier than that. You have no argument anymore so now you wanna just say suck it up.

It’s obvious you’ve never had alts because it was actually easier to get alts geared when there wasn’t even as many catch up mechanics.
There is nothing to argue? You want essences; run the content that provides them? Profit. Or buy a bunch of BoE corruption items for your alts.
because im not dumping $1000.00 on corrupted gear for my alts like you would for your little brother who doesnt belong in any sort of end game content. I earned my essences once, lots of them through rep grinding which takes weeks on end. I just want to enjoy a different class at a level thats close to my main, or where i can play with my friends who are geared, without being carried. Essences will help in that regard. Its a system that is not going to be around in 6 months. Stop being so anal about it.

This. People like to ignore the feeling of obligations behind what we do. Having an empty slot and not even having the cloak yet on top of no gear causes a conflict of knowing you have to do one with out having the other. A lot of people will just choose to do none in this case.
Rank 1 breath of the dying is better than most old rank 3 essences. The only essence you can argue that requires grind and is bis for some specs is memory of lucid dreams, and even that one is replaceable by breath.

Litteraly makes me want to blow my brains out. What a crazy idea account wide essences are… Want to enjoy the new content? Well first bore yourself to death with old content. Eh I’d rather just go play a different game like the endless number of subs that have up and left.
Blizzard meet rocket science. Chores are boring and people will and have been unsubbing.

When 80% of the players are telling you your content is crap and its not enjoyable. There is something wrong. Stop defending something that has no business being defended. Blizzard has done a lot of amazing things in this game, all these systems are not part of that. They’re garbage. Dont give me 50 character slots and then expect me to play 10+ hrs a day to be able to enjoy a second character at the level of play that i enjoy.
Lucid 3 is a 2k dps increase from 2 to 3 for Fire Mage. So yeah its a pretty good increase.
What I still don’t understand is why everyone hates the idea of account wide essences. You still have to grind them the first time just like everyone else did. How does that effect anyone at all? Back in legion we asked over and over and over for a vendor to target legendary items because of the random nature of the upgrades. This is essentially the same thing, I doubt anyone wants to redo a story the 10th time.
I really have a hard time understanding how this bothers everyone so much. I have currently 14 lv 120s right now about half of them are geared the other half are not. 2 currently have most of the essences at rank 3. The others do not and its very apparent how gimped you feel when you log on to an alt without rank 3s.
BFA has basically killed what used to make wow so great. Gearing isn’t a problem anymore and you can get caught up pretty fast ilvl wise 15s drop 465 ilvl gear from the end of run chest. Corruptions and essences put you miles behind other people. While I absolutely enjoy farming for corruptions, the thought of logging on to a alt with no essences just prevents me from doing it.
I’d play more often if we had the account bound essences in.(coming from someone who usually has 6+ geared alts every xpac.)

80% hey? I’m sure you have a source for your numbers. I find their content enjoyable. When I stop finding the content enjoyable I unsub. No one is forcing you to play the game 10 hours a day. This is what the game is right now. If you don’t like it voice your opinion with your wallet. I do with pathfinder every expansion. Has anything changed with pathfinder? Nope. This is why I am unsubbed for about half of every expansion.
I feel this is going to be the stigma in shadowlands
having to lv / grind the new order hall system and to unlock
abilities that you unlock on another alt or main.
Correct mechanics won’t beat an enrage timer if your dps is low…

Agreed. They’d get more playtime from me as well. Sad to see they dont see that. I enjoy the challenging parts of the game, not the garbage dailies that i fall asleep doing.
