Error when trying to restore my deleted Paladin

I noticed that character restore was available again and tried to restore my level 50 Paladin. I received an error stating that there was a problem restoring said character and try again later. I submitted a ticket regarding the issue and the response was that “character restore is unavailable at this time and it cant be circumvented.” So is the character restore still unavailable? It looks to me like its functioning again aside from the error im receiving for a particular character.

It is possible the rep wasn’t aware of the update. Please try reopening your ticket, Aiox.

Make sure that you are logged onto the realm the character was on when you deleted it.

You will get an error if that is not true.

I am dealing with the same issue! I’ve been able to restore a few characters, but some always return an error, no matter how many times I try. I’m on the right realm too, and no other characters share the names.

FYI, the support article also is “unaware of the update”. Not sure who’s in charge of that department, but wanted to let you know.

Character restoration (undeleting your character) is temporarily disabled in World of Warcraft. Read our blog post for more information.

Character restoration is still available for World of Warcraft Classic characters.

Note: We can’t restore characters who don’t show up in the Character Undelete service.

Try this link to request assistance from a GM. As the moderator noted, some of the GMs are not yet aware that the service is functional again, so you might want to mention that in the ticket description.

Hey my character has been stuck in the realm transfer from love wolf to crusader strike. I cannot log into him to check if there is any mail and at one point it said my character was locked. It is the only character that didn’t transfer over to Crusader Strike. Is there any way to reset the process?

Our developers continue to investigate this issue. If you’re still unable to restore a character (after reading this message) with the error “There was a problem restoring your deleted character”, could you please provide the following information:

  • Name and server of the character that you can’t restore
  • Approximate time / date when you tried to restore the character and received this error

I cannot restore Caitwynn-MoonGuard and Lokreika-MoonGuard. I just tried, a minute ago. Been trying each day since restore came back.

edit: I also cannot restore Snazzi-MoonGuard as of 2024.09.24 01:00AM Pacific

hello i tried to restore
Attuuo on argent dawn realm at 1715 pacific time 09/21/2024 got the error there was a problem restoring your chraecter please try again. i have opened a tkt the response was to open bug report. i have attempted this restore a dozen times. ty please help its my main.

Got the same issue for my druid Dog on Emerald Dream US. I submitted a ticket and the GM changed his name to DogWXYZ but I can’t restore him either.

The update is only two days old. This post indicates they are still gathering cases to look for a solution.

Nívan - Level 70 Death Knight on Blade’s Edge (alt-0237 for the i)
Tried on the first day available, 9/17, have tried at least once each day since, same error appears. All other characters are capable of being restored.
