I had a couple friends that started doing BG’s regular again so 3 and sometimes 5 of us or in Discord look at the difference it is amazing. from 05/13 to 05/15 now they have not done the Epic BG’s with me that when I drop group. most of the time it just 3 of us and we still do good.

I hear you. Loud and clear!

JMO, if you like playing epic BGs, you kind of need a horde to play on to have a good amount of fun and wins.

Just curious, are these folks btag friends? I don’t really know anyone who switched to horde for wins but then switched back to alliance for queue times. Or maybe I should say, I haven’t seen anyone say this in game, or on the forums recently.

Since I like epic BGs, if I mained horde what I would do is merc if I wanted better queue times. Or I could just create alliance toons to play on. I wouldn’t see any reason to faction change unless it had something to do with my guild.

in some cases, sure, you know them too, and some that i simply recognize by name. while they may be mercing, that is still playing for alliance.

That aint nothing compared to that dude who lost 48 out of 50.

Ohhh… if that’s what you’re saying then… sure, many horde merc for shorter queue times. But I would wager maybe half of them never fail to add a parting “alliance suck” or “cya losers” or “hahah never doing this again!”

It’s really really stupid that one faction can so freely troll another and face no consequences. And yes, I see it every day. I recognize names.

Yeah and divided by seasons, dates, etc. It’s dumb that it’s not. Way dumb.

you can always drop names via battlenet and have them focused by horde until they ragequit

Queue times are a drag, but I really like being Horde. I know a lot of fun peeps Ally side, but it’d drive me crazy. Nothing to do with win rates or whatever someone might think. I love the Horde’s personality and vibe, the Alliance is super duper dull to me. “Whee, let’s save the children in the castle!”

This whole thing is a thousand times more interesting than anything I’ve seen Alliance side. They just have no identity.

you could say that is because the writers have not given them one.

Yeah I was playing my Alliance toon yesterday doing a bit of catch-up and it seemed there was a lot of mercs in Alliance epics. Even saw merced/blue-text Webdog in 2 games.

I think there was like 7 of them in one match alone :joy:

I mean, it’s understandable since Horde queue time has hovered around 18-23 minutes since Tuesday. Who wants to stand around “idling” their toon in a major city for 25-30 minutes waiting for a bg? That gets old man

“when the queue times go up, the mercs come out”

Well absolutely. That said I don’t know where they can go, people would flip their lids if they went outside the box and wrote a morally grey (kek) or antihero thing. Greymane’s the closest they have to that, and he doesn’t seem very popular Alliance-side. (He was my favorite when I was blue)

And their towns are too “sturdy” and pretty to sell any “we’re on the ropes fighting to survive” angle. It’d be like Tim Cook saying that. Poor guy, pawn one of your Aston Martins or something.

When I said “anything i’ve seen”, I should have said “ever seen”. I’ve never cared that much about any story details (but they were interesting enough), but i care about this one.

well they fail miserably at morally grey as well, sylvanas is about as grey as a black hole, and alliance literally roll around in white armor. the ebon blade is about the only thing in azeroth that fits “morally grey” and their backstory was written 12 years ago.

the problem is they have setup alliance to be goodie two shoes, so they can do no wrong, where is the troop of alliance soldiers that raped, pillaged, and razed a small town? where is a slave trade? where are the other forces in the royal court trying to overthrow anduin to take power for themselves? alliance is simply too fairy-tale and that makes them boring.

Right. There were a-holes in the Alliance, for sure. It’s just been a very long time. People have forgotten about the internment camps, a racist human commander betraying Kael, the WC3 Night Elves actually being ruthless and brutal, among other such things.

Years ago Blizzard used to be known for having games where there was really no good guy or no bad guy. It was all “from a certain point of view”. I was hoping that the Teldrassil/Night Warrior thing would be a beginning of a return to that, we shall see.

the key part is “years ago” more recently their writing has been too black and white. when i started playing alliance seemed like the good guys, but under the surface you could see the cracks, same with horde, the outward appearance of being the bad guys, but then you see they are honorable and care about protecting their own.

the irritating thing is that blizzard have grown more childish with their writing while their playerbase has grown up. sylvanas = bad and anduin = good works for a 5 year old, not a 35 year old.

Well here’s hoping Tyrande or someone burns an orphanage or something. I suspect she’ll be filling that role of “bloodthirsty Alliance character” for a long time, especially since Thrall is returning to the Horde. I assume that means Jaina will soften again and go back to playing pattycake with him. Anduin’s kept Genn’s leash too tight so he hasn’t really been that role either for a minute.

Ironically I like Anduin a lot. He’s pretty perfect for the role he was given. The game does need characters like that, they just can’t all be that way.

When I was Alliance I was Worgen, I loved the duality of it. Everyone wears masks in life, I felt it was fitting for my avatar to as well. But the Horde just innately has that duality to it, and it’s great.

i can already see the reaction from alliance:

Speaking of epics, Wintergrasp has been popping A LOT tonight :-1: :-1:

Queue up on Horde toon, WG twice

Swap over to Ally toon, WG again

Before I afked out, saw some other Ally players in the chat comment with stuff like “THE THIRD TIME IN A ROW” and “omg this again”
