You seem to have a knack for being completely wrong in every post you make. I applaud you for that. Takes effort. You should redirect that effort into learning how to tank properly. So let’s correct the record (again):
Not an Asmongold hate thread. Facts are just facts.
Apes did what they did because they’ve been playing nearly the same version of the game over and over and over for years on end. This is a conflation of many things, but it does come down to the fact that most people playing Classic do not fall into that category.
Shield tanks don’t struggle with threat or pull one mob at a time if they’re good tanks. Stop being bad.
I enjoy healing real tanks. It’s a pleasurable experience.
But keep spewing that nonsense, champ. Eventually you’ll get something right. Broken clock and all that.
Yeah they do struggle with threat. Unless they’re really good, I’ll just ask them if they have a good 2h weapon, because you know, I’m not a bad healer and I can actually heal a 2h tank, but hey man, if you aren’t good enough to heal 2h tanks, maybe… just maybe… you need to git gud.
Lol that’s exactly what I said. If you think DWing or 2Hing as a tank will make you hold threat better or tank better you literally need to respec and become another meme dps warrior.
DW tanking is for very late game, in world class guilds where their DPS is so geared and generate so much threat that there is literally nothing else you can do except generate more of it.
And only then, it’s reserved for Main Tanks who are likely the most geared person in the raid and have full consumables to support the move
What’s laughable is that you don’t even have to be “god-tier” to hold threat with a shield. You just have to have the ability to read your tooltips. Carrying a bad tank who threw in the towel on tanking but still wants to fill the role is just that: carrying. Once again, you prove me right when I say this thread is full of people trying to pin the blame for their bad tanking on their group mates.
Logic says this is about warrior tanks and pally tanks takes bait anyways
As a Druid you can not make me use a Shield. I will not hold it. however i will vendor it if i loot one. useless piece of wood and metal.
And if I so choose, I will no weapon tank. its all the Rage if you are on a budget. ;D
So imo it doesn’t matter until lvl 30ish. a heals can turn a shaman into a tank if they have the mana for it. the higher up in lvl the harder it becomes because mechanics and mob density increases. at which point it wont be effective again until both the warrior and heals are over geared.
It doesn’t though. Because your casters have to drink anyway. So unless you’re running a full melee group, having your healer drink costs you no time at all.
He can pull those packs, but he can’t hold aggro on them, so what’s the point?
And 2H tanking is for very early game, when mobs don’t hit hard enough for a tank to generate rage through wearing a shield, and there aren’t enough talent points to get tactical mastery/anger management as well as any points in prot.
You guys say 2h tanking is the meta, yet I don’t see warriors doing it in level 60 dungeons, and I constantly see a shortage of tanks. Only the streamers seem to do this. I would know because every group talks about them.
Just lol with the elementary argument of “if they hold aggro then who cares?” I guess if the healer is specced DPS and forces the tank to pot each pull then “if everyone survives then who cares?”
Waiting on arguments why we need to make a healers job harder, and not the tanks.
You don’t need to do it in level 60 dungeons because you have full access to the entire talent tree at level 60, and mobs hit hard enough at level 60 to still generate rage while wearing a shield.
It’s a much different story at level 30 when you only have 20 talent points to use and mobs hit for nothing.
Or, you know, don’t want to tank without rage. Which is what you’ll be doing if you’re trying to tank wearing a shield as prot at level 30. No tactical mastery. No rage. No threat. You won’t be tanking at all unless your DPS are waiting 10 seconds or more to start attacking.
If that’s all you’re capable of doing the group would be better off running 4 DPS and having a hunter pet tank. 2h tanking at lower levels is just more effective, period.
Yes, they are. Not you, but plenty of people in this thread are indeed complaining about tanks in low level dungeons using 2 handers and not being full prot spec.
On the subject though. I have kept an eye on the healers mana when ive had a 2 hander tank. If the tank is wearing Mail, that is for the most part, current level gear, healer does fine, may have to drink after a couple of pulls, but thats fine, as long as the dungeon gets done and quests completed, im ok with it.
NOW, if the healer is OOM every pull, thats when i have an issue.
I feel bad for agreeing with this guy but he is right, here. As someone that has mained healer since vanilla (switching it up for classic), dps thinking it’s fine to tank so long as they hold agro only really works for lower dungeons. 40+ and raids you are putting tons of strain on the healers.
