Endless tank bottleneck

Oh wow I feel dumb I typed the same thing pretty much, sent the reply, and saw you post two above mine. So basically, I agree with everything you said.

Its really a no win situation about the number of tanks. Non tanks suggest ways they think will increase the number of tanks, but those ideas never work. Things like more tanking classes and switching specs on the fly in retail hasn’t fixed the tank shortage because it doesn’t actually fix the problems.

There are ways to increase the number of tanks, but the non tank community doesn’t like them. Blizz has even tried some of them and people freak out every time.

If somebody loses an arena match to a tank its straight to the forums to complain. Tanks pulling decent dps? Can’t have that. Bribing tanks? People feel that is unfair. Make 25 man raids require 5 tanks to maintain the ratio? Not a chance. Make all raids 10 man to maintain the ratio? They won’t have it.

The problem can’t be fixed because the community is unwilling to do what it would take to fix it.

I love this post, its completely accurate and encapsulates everything blizzard has done over the years to try and address this problem. Personally I would just say F it and give every class a tanking spec. Survival hunter, tanking spec. Demonology Warlock, tanking spec. Add a battlemage spec, tanking spec. That way no one could ever legitimately complain about not having a tank again.

It’s a new (old) expac and everyone is leveling. Leveling as a tank or healer isn’t easy if you intend to do any questing at all. You’ll be relegated to dungeon leveling without some help. I’m resto because I have a guild that I know will help me level when/if I need it. Last night, most of my level was running Ramps/BF with them and then running around with one of our mages for quests after. A lot of people are leveling in their dps specs with plans to switch out later.

This is why when I started playing I was a tank lol. Why wait for a tank when you can be the tank? EZ

I’m a tank. Kaercha-Pagel. NGL, if I’ve been online for longer than 5 minutes I’m probably in a group already, but you can always ping me to see.

WAR can dps perfectly if you have a “DPS-SET” based on STR/AGI. I have 3/3 thunder-clap & 3/3 improved cleave and my DPS is extremely high on the DPS meter. The only annoying part is paying for rese the talents.

im tanking as fury with a 2h in zerker stance, we don’t need dual spec.

See I don’t get this. It’s literally just dpsing.

This always confused me… why wouldn’t a warrior grab some tank gear, especially for leveling. Just go fury/prot

Triggered.

That’s great for you, but what works for you doesn’t necessarily work for everyone else. What about all the healer classes who can’t solo farm/quest well at all because they are choosing to heal dungeons? Dual-spec breaks nothing about the game and only allows better quality of life for those playing it.

think it might be the end mate…myself and guildies all got chain camped all day, and basically everyones considering xferring off now :(. Think the last of the horde probably gonna be out. Alas, but enjoy

If you decide to roll an Alliance toon, add me and Ill try to help get you established.

At the very least, having more than 1 class that can switch between tanking and ranged DPS would help significantly.

A big part of the problem is that melee DPS is also pretty unwanted in raids, so switching specs doesn’t really help there either.

I agree 100% that Survival hunter should be a tank spec, and additionally they should give Demon Hunters a 3rd spec that is ranged. Druid has been the only class that can both ranged DPS and tank in the game’s history.

Community is the problem, only the community can be a solution.

I’m levelling my healer first, as main, but I plan on my 2nd being a tank primarily to help the bottleneck. It’s all ‘doing our part’.

thanks dawg, but imagine ill just play this guy out. Just sad, woulda been nice to have at least some horde pop, but couldnt get anyone to stay. And then the sweaties non stop camped the newbies in my guild today, and they all decided to leave. RIP

PvP is fun. Camping is lame (unless it’s a blood elf.)

If ya change your mind, hit me up. This is my main.

I try ever so often to tank for pugs and EVERY time im reminded why its a bad idea. There’s just so many toxic and stupid dps that makes trying to do this service an impossible task. If you want there to be tanks perhaps deal with the stupid dps first.

Other day I got flamed out because a druid got caught in stealth by mobs that see through stealth. This kinda of stuff is not uncommon.
