Did ya get stomped? Tags were all gteen from what I could see.
Sorry bro. Maybe you can reconnect with some homies. At least they are giving ample layers now though, questing is pretty quick.
We stomped some actually by staying away from the portal between like 2-4 server, but then it was all ally. We had fun though
Everyone says no changed however if they said dual spec I’d be so for it
Come at me, still one of the best things to happen to the game
I never understood FP camping… I wasn’t even worth honor the one time they got me. I do love me some bubble+hearth.
Maybe you should play a tank?
Yea we caught a ton of ppl autorunning to the portal until some very geared people came out hahaha. But ye FP camping is silly. Also if anything, there was wayyyyy more ally camping yesterday than horde. Trying to run into ramps and BF was a group wipe every time. 20 + ally outside each instance for hours
When they added dual spec it certainly “helped” the situation depending on your perspective of the issue. I hate dual spec because I am a tank and dual spec devalues me as a resource.
However, it didn’t solve the issue per-se, because melee dps (that can tank) are undesireable in raids, because their classes are generally weaker.
So these people still can’t “play” tanks as their mains because I don’t want fury warriors in my raid when I can put a hunter/lock/mage in that same spot.
This is a little bit of a weak argument I confess considering how strong Warriors/Dk’s/Ret’s were in WotLK but I would counter that with the fact tanks were still rare wotlk and they are rare in retail today. Even with a deluge of fun tanking classes to play because it doesn’t get around the raid problem.
I love to tank, have tanked for 20~ years in MMOs and have no intention to stop. I won’t tank for PUGs though, not a chance.
I play a tank, and I love tanking, but I get why most people won’t. A lot of its already been covered butttttttt
- Pug DPS who have no sense of threat and then treat the tank poorly when they all run in before you can get any rage/threat attacking different mobs. If you’re not geared it makes it really difficult to collect threat back on all mobs.
- Raid spots. Easy to find dungeon groups, finding a tank spot is much harder. Its the same in retail, but at least in retail you can jump around specs easily.
- Solo content can be slow and painful as a tank. I play a druid so its not so bad, but I can imagine some of the other tanks have it rougher.
- Tanking can be really intimidating. Especially when you’ve been witness to how some pugs treat a tank. Be patient with new tanks (or even experienced ones). Treating them poorly is just going to push more people out of the role, and then the whole community suffers.
Great point Pram, wipes are part of the game. Shake them off, learn from your mistakes, and try again. Speed runs are annoying and do nothing to increase skill.
100% agree with this. I’ll only invite pugs when I have at least 2 other friends with me.
This is why I mainly dont like to tank for pugs. TBC is new for me along with the dungeon content, I dont know what to pull and such. Most pugs expect you to know the ins and outs of every dungeon.
I love it people complaining about the pug tank they got while complaining at the lack of tanks… and you wonder why tanks are in short supply.
Tanking is a thankless job, everyone thanks the healer after a run, posts damage meters, might say a generic “thanks all” but no one ever says jack to a tank unless its critical of their gear/tank ability/dungeon speed. So when you complain about lack of tanks look at how you treat them first.
Its not easy tanking… people ignore/don’t use threat meters, complain about slow speed when tanks are waiting on mana or waiting on a pat to arrive or leave before pulls… most (not all) dps are on auto pilot in a dungeon ask them anything other than loot they need that drops in a dungeon and they wont know pats, puls, or mob abilites… its only going to get worse tbc and wrath introduced a lot of mechanics into 5 man content that need to be dealt with… 5 mans are no longer tank and spanks.
At the end of the day your complaining about lack of tanks while not wanting to roll one yourself. Get over yourself and either roll a tank or play dps and realize that 90% of the game is people being lazy and only play dps classes
I tanked 1 pug last night after my guildies went to bed. I made a mistake when pulling (I didn’t pull the mobs back far enough in SP and the mob feared one of our members into another pack). I apologized to the group, said it was my bad, no one said anything and the rest of the run went smooth, and by the end they said I was a good tank.
People appreciate when you take accountability for your actions and mistakes, especially if you recognize them and take ownership immediately.
For your speed run comment, speed runs absolutely do a ton to increase skill of players, because you can’t speed run if you’re not “somewhat” skilled. You will need to use more abilities and utilities to deal with massive group sizes, Mages will need to nova mobs to help the tanks kyte damage, help keep slows up for other people to avoid damage, kyte as a group, move and position correctly. Without speed running I could do an entire dungeon with 4 abilities, when we speed run I need to manage CD’s so they are up for bosses and our planned 4-5 pack pulls. I use 13-14 abilities because I have to.
No chain pulling 1 pack after another 1 pack at a time probably won’t increase skill. But pulling 4-5 packs at once will.
Join a guild mang, you will have a much better time; long as it’s not a make believe speed clear guild
I’m trying to find guild with raid time i can use, which isn’t very easy.
Part of the issue is also how much tanks are needed in leveling content vs raid. Tanks go from being 20% of the group to 8% in 25 man raids.
In my experience, you barely ever saw raid PUGs looking for tanks, they were usually filled before the recruitment process starts.
That is a real struggle if your hours are not normal for your server. I wish you the best of luck!
I was going to main a tank but my guild is set on tanks for raids so they talked me into healing. I think there are two issues. The first is that people either don’t enoy tanking or perceive it as difficult, and the second is that most 5 man tanks don’t have a raid spot. 20% of a 5 man group is dedicated to tanks, but only 8% of a 25 man raid are dedicated to tanks.
