Endless tank bottleneck

I don’t think dungeon finder is going to help the situation at all, now we are just going to advertise carry runs for gold in the dungeon finder forums the same way we do in retail, and we did in chat in classic.

You need to find a way to incentivize me as a tank, or “good” tanks, to play with people they don’t know / don’t want to play with. The onlything blizzard has ever done that worked was the bag that dropped a random mount. I AM NOT ADVOCATING FOR THAT IN ANYWAY. I don’t want dungeon finder. Forum or otherwise. I want classic to be classic.

When dungeon finder was first implemented dps que’s were somewhere around 7-15 minutes. Just weeks later after people started clearing ICC they were 45+ minutes. Most of my memory of cataclysm were 30+ minute que’s as dps.

Dual spec does not increase the quantity of tanks long term, and neither does dungeon finder.

If YOU want a tank to play with you then you need to go out into the world, interact with another human being (who plays a tank) in a positive way such that they want to play with you. Or. Re-roll a tank yourself. Take some initiative and stop asking blizzard to solve an issue for you that you are capable of solving yourself with a minuscule amount of effort.

Hell no those solo casual playa can git gud

Why are people trying to play WoW like its skyrim. Wow is a MMO. There should be no such thing as a “solo” player.

You can play it like skyrim if you want. But you don’t get to add on game breaking solutions to your odd playstyle

Whether you want to believe it or not, the 1-58 areas are a ghost town even on my high population realm. 1-58 is solo. No dungeon weapons, no blue gear, no group quests.

Its a real challenge. I’m not bothered by it cause I know the game well, but imagine newer players?

The boost I think will cut off a lot of potential new players because they will quit before they reach level 30-40.

There is no MMO 1-58, its a ghost town. A dungeon finder would help that.

Also, can’t really say stuff like that. MMO doesn’t mean you need to be grouped all the time. Look at Old School Runescape. It feels more MMO than WoW and there is no grouping. PvP and trading is the only form of player interaction.

Makes me snicker seeing all the warriors, paladins and druids screaming about no tanks in LFG.

This is why dual spec became a thing… no one wants to tank because you’re locked into it. PVPing as a tank? Eh… not optimal. Healers and DPS can do both without really changing anything…

Again people need to establish why their is still a tank shortage in retail if what you are saying is true.

You can swap specs freely and as infinitely as you want and yet their is still a tank shortage. You have equally as many tanks going dps as dps going tanks. Again I don’t want to tank for pugs if I can avoid it, so if I que a random dungeon I do so as a dps where I can turn my brain off and pump.

People don’t “not want to tank” because you’re locked into it, people don’t want to tank because its either boring, high stress, and no one really appreciates you when you do a good job (kind of like janitors). Dual spec is not going to solve this issue. It didn’t in retail. They’ve been working on solving this issue for the better part of 13 years and its still not solved. Join a guild, be a good player, and you will get constantly invited to groups.

yeah this separate the same game into two games did not play out for the ones that wanted to play just classic. even if they merge all the classic servers to one still wont help.

By design, there is going to be a 40% shortage of tank-specced characters for dungeons because only 3 tanks are needed for 25-mans. And it’s even much worse than that while leveling, because a lot of those warriors and pallies are leveling as dps spec so they can kill things faster.

The only solution is for those dps-specced tanky classes to just get in there and tank. Yeah, I’m specced fury, and I would LOVE to try out my dps, but I never get to because we’re always LF a tank. So I just step in and do it.

And yes, tanking dungeons when not specced for it is stressful. Everyone just opens up with AoE and you’re running around like an idiot taunting and trying to grab at least some of the mobs. But for normal dungeons this is fine. They don’t hit that hard and the DPS that pulls aggro can usually be healed through it. Just grab what you can, and make sure you keep them off the healer.

Now for heroics, that’s not going to cut it. Until we outgear them, you’re probably going to have to be specced for tanking to tank heroics. But by then, a lot of these dps-specced folks will switch to prot. Still going to be the 40% shortage, though, and there’s nothing that can be done about it.

im not asking for anything. im stating that noboday wants to tank because its not the same as dpsing nor do tanks do big damage like dps. hence the lack of tanks due to lack of damage and the least fun role

The way you stated it implies it.

That is incredibly incorrect. Prot is actually fun compared to boring Dps.

They do different damage and excel in their areas.

Tanking is the most fun role. I find Dps super boring and it lacks depth. I have always mained Prot in both PvP and PvE since it’s the most fun and interesting spec. If there was no Prot I just wouldn’t play this game. It’s the reason I want to log in.

So I don’t think you have a grasp on the situation still, nor does it have anything to do with damage.

And guild also have just few tanks for many many dps

i was very curious about this. in classic i had a 60 priest, a 60 rogue and a 60 warrior. the priest i healed with but the rogue and warrior i just dps’d. now that the gate is opened i leveled my priest to 61 first healing but when i played my rogue i just found it more fun (yea dps… sigh) so im level 62 with her. then after noticing how everyone spams tanks non-stop and trying to find them for the groups im like dam maybe i should try… got on my warrior re-specced him protection and tanked a ramparts run.

its not like tanking is super hard but personally i dont find it fun since usually people dont wait for threat and you feel like a total douche if someone else pulls aggro on you. i find it more stressful personally, even moreso then healer when your mana starved. dps is so easy lol…

That’s your opinion, while I love tanking, I understand that many don’t.

DPS would be fun if i could actually use my abilities, but one shadowbolt or three dots just build so much threat that leveling pug tanks can’t hold it.

Have to like go agony+corruption and wand for trash packs. And still double dps of a rogue

I wish people needed healers more, y’all tanks can make bank now.
