Seems like we all agree the tanks aren’t balanced, which for some people isn’t a problem?
So the disconnect is some believe the game should be balanced and some don’t

Awkward… Your first response to me in this thread was talking exactly about that.
I just don’t think perfect balance is feasible.
Blizzard pretty much never achieves it in m+ or raid.
And what do you do when things aren’t balanced, you add weight to the other side and make it closer, then try again
But m+ is not the entire game.
Raid also exists.
The question is at what level does the balance become an actual problem. It’s a real problem for… the top 0.18%… It’s not a problem for the bottom 99.82%.
See how ridiculous it sounds now to be complaining about this?
But M+ is the name of the thread
It becomes a problem when the specs aren’t close enough, it’s a question of how much imbalanced is acceptable, which TWW wasn’t
Yes, but Blizzard balances m+ and raid the same way. They’re both PVE.
So it’s quite unrealistic still.
And if Blizzard were to solely balance for m+, people will sort them selves into a meta comp regardless because of slight edges.
Nobody is asking for perfect balance.
Brewmasters are asking for Blizzard to actually finish the damn spec design.
Define “close enough” exactly please.
Because they’re close enough… for 99.82% of the tank player base. They’re only not close enough for 0.18% of the tank player base.
I think the reversion to old talent trees is a minus because Blizzard lacks the ability to make meaningful choices for all.
At least, the mop trees were a semblance of parity.
The old shrubs had specs where it didn’t matter if you picked any talents at all, they were all so worthless. Guardian Druid being a prime example.
Any tank above a 12 will notice the difference of not having a Ppal, that’s quite a bit of people
The 17-20 example was to show that the gap in strength is very large. Because a 20 is infinitely harder than a 17, it had nothing to do with the players
Also, if you don’t care about balance because you just do 10s for vault, why are you even here?
Isn’t that cause most specs had a utility row which is generally not useful for PVE output?
yeah, i don’t understand the love for the old trees. i remember shadow being full of stuff like “periodic damage from shadow word pain has an additional 1.5% chance to crit” or something. snore.
if I have to click some buttons to make my character playable, might as well click less.
Theorycrafters will distill it down to the “one true build” in most cases anyway.
Close enough at what point. Blizzard doesnt really balance after a set point (12s being this case).
So any advantage one spec has over another gets multiplied the further into “no-balance” territory you go. Thus the metas forming.
So at a balancing breakpoint where the majority of players will be, tank balance is fine.
Dude… I’ve literally done the math for you already. Look up top if you want to look into it.
Even at 12 and up you’re talking about only 13.6% of the population. So again… for 86.4% of the tank player base… this isn’t an issue… literally at all. For ~13% of the player base it progressively becomes an issue between +12 and +15, and it’s an enormous issue for the last 0.18% of the tank population.
Sorry… I’m fine with those numbers. More than fine. If you want to push past the expected levels of reasonable play in the system… by all means go ahead. But to expect them to continue to maintain parity across specs at that level is just folly.
Want that? Delete all specs and copy/paste their abilities.
I invite anybody who has any praise for the old talent shrubs to go look at this pathetic and feeble ‘tree’ from Shadowlands that Guardian Druids had.
It is difficult to summon the words to describe how atrocious that is. And I’m not joking when I say that you could just not take any talents at all and barely notice.
They’re making a 2850 mount
I just don’t subscribe to the idea that because every tank can do a very easy key the game is balanced, we won’t agree. Again, if you don’t care about balance why even argue it?
