It’s sounding like your problem here stems from not being able to play with friends for whatever reason. You’re making it sound like as if they quit, and that you, who still plays, is finding the solo experience to be dull. Find new friends, do some WPvP on active shards.
If you know how things are, then why are you blaming the system as a whole when you know it’s just your experience in War Mode and is your shard that is dead.
The solutions offered by others, like server transfer, seem to go over your head and you refuse to try them because you’re scared to, you’re a nostalgia chaser.
I’m telling you man, give it a chance. I know you don’t trust me, I know I’m some stranger to you, but I love WPvP. If you’re looking for WPvP, let’s do some.
I was a solo player for a majority of Shadowlands, and some of Dragonflight. Ive met so many friends believe it or not because of my time in War Mode.
War mode is the problem. Period. Im not a nostalgia chaser, lol… the issue is the devs have catered to the pve crowd and have dismantled the open world for wpvp. Sparks quests is what most of what goes on in the world right now. Thats. It. Its not the server groups or servers, its war mode.
lol… really. I seem to remember you never going out. Afraid. hah…
Giving players stuck on PvP servers an out wasn’t catering to the PvE crowd. Many PvP servers were imbalanced and even the PvPers on those PvP servers were sick of it and were stuck, since their server got imbalanced.
War Mode allows Blizzard to give the WPvP crowd content aimed towards them without affecting those who want nothing to do with it. And that’s fine.
I’ll admit, Blizzard hasn’t done the best job at delivering that to us, the sharding is bad and they don’t give us enough content. But change that and War Mode is great.
No? Crates give Honor and Conquest, and every… What is it, 3 or 6 hours, at a WPvP FFA quest, Unbound Spoils will spawn and contain the blood stones used for gem sockets.
People fight at crates across many areas, not just the active sparks zone, and at free for all quests for the spoils.
It’s actually quite common for people to hang out at the world pvp quest areas long after they’ve completed the quest. It’s how a lot of warmode regulars get to know each other.
Again, this could have been resolved by blizz enforcing balance. Thats not hard. The sharding is really bad, worse than its been honestly. They need huge war mode changes if it remains. Look at all the things in pve they got to do… we get one quest a week. Thats it.
But they didn’t and they couldn’t after Wrath of the Lich King. They opened up new servers to address the rising player population in Wrath, they couldn’t have predicted the game to suddenly fall off afterwards and leave these new servers created as dead. Their initial solution was CRZ and opening up the game to be cross realm.
Cut ahead to WoD/Legion. PvP servers were widely imbalanced. Enforcing balance? Coulda, shoulda, woulda. Too late by then.
Which brings me back to this:
Sharding is bad though yes, and it does need to be fixed.
Last night, I played with Lluagor and his group on Wyrmrest Accord shard. Started off fine for a bit and the shard slowly became dead. Wanna know what we did instead of crying about “War Mode is dead”?
I left group, went back to my Bleeding Hollow shard, and invited him and his group. We continued to PvP on my shard full of Alliance, we fought at a War Supply Crate that had 18-20 Alliance at it, for a solid 7-8 minutes. We finally won the crate, and the fight was amazing. It was fun.
This thread isnt about crying, its about coming up with a better solution. You shouldn’t have to find another phase. That sucks in itself and has been happening since WoD. Saying its ok, is why we are where we are now. They can do a lot better. Even if war mode remains they need to make some big changes. Phases, providing more things to do than just a single world quest, rewards to get people out of the safe areas. The more players get out, the better things are as a whole. Those simply just running dungeons or raids get burned out. They got nothing else to do. When all the pve content gets used up… they always go to pvp/wpvp.
I know that. Sharding isn’t ok. I’ve already said this before. The sharding sucks, fix the sharding. War Mode isn’t to blame for this it’s sharding, which is found everywhere. A majority of the player base doesn’t play in War Mode, their world is more populated and therefore needs the sharding to reduce lag.
It leaks over into War Mode, and while War Mode still needs it to an extent, not like this.
I’ve already offered solutions to how Blizzard could fix this.
The servers got split by what their old server types were.
Thats why ED is so alone, it is only mixed with the old RP/PVP realms.
But besides that,
ED could 100% start flagging up and have fun fights, but they wont.
It wouldnt matter what rewards in War Mode blizz offered.
Most of them are too worried about being posted dead on twitter or discord or holding on to some sort of clout. The realm just has a terrible culture and attitude that has caused its own downfall.
The main appeal was “wrecking other peoples fun when they tried to do something”
Which led to anyone that was proactive there, leaving or not bothering anymore.
The current state of ED would have happened War Mode or not.
Youre right, that was going on 2 expansions before war mode. Blizz could fix the sharding in war mode, being a less complicated fix in itself. The rest… lots needs to be done.
You contributed to that greatly. Dont think we forgot…
