Isn’t there a difference between ganking and griefing? Ganking doesn’t necessarily hinder a person’s ability to play.
I have infamy for attacking the AH but I do it to motivate the lazy Alliance to flag up, not to actually prevent them from trading. The irony is that most would rather flag up and get me than to go to a different AH…

Absolutely. Thats a bit of my point. WoWs two faction system, and associated wpvp turned the griefer into the ganker. It gave the explorer and the collector a new way to act and interact with other players (fight the ganker).

Nothing wrong with ganking people in the world. If it’s Red, it’s dead. It’s literally war! Players are so scared to fight they lose out on alot of fun. Running laps in orbios is not fun.

I got ganked on a fresh 60 warlock four times in the Maw this morning. A certain Illidan MM who is now KOS until he understands that buying boosts is no longer the true way to win. The V in PvP is for vendetta, so it’s a lot more than just war.

Speaking of buying boosts, weird how someone with almost no M+ rating and who was constantly wearing gear 2 seasons behind is all of a sudden completing keys.
It turns out that Hunter, especially SV, has enough meta juice to be taken in pugs without much fuss. That had nothing to do with me at all. I gave it a whirl and before you know it I was doing pretty well racking 9’s, 10’s, 11’s. And I started at 222 ilvl too on this toon. I think I got 700 M+ on my seasonal vulpera last season, and even that was a surprise.
Blizz deserves most of the credit for making M+ accessible anyway, though some have propositioned for 0 to be solo queued so they can get a key. Obviously having a key is a good bargaining chip.
I’m going to necro my own thread as it seems appropriate for how things are going with pvp. Arena ques are the worst they have ever really been due to MMR issues, fotm, and balancing things.
During DF we have enjoyed the Wpvp gear, which I have really enjoyed and I think needs to stay. But once more I have to point out how this war mode is KILLING the game. We have so much potential for a lot of fun and fights galore, with BFA style assaults and less safe places! People sit in Valdraken and do nothing basically. There is no one out in the world unless its a sparks quest which there is usually fighting going on for the first 2-3 months of that patch while people get their gear, then after that… poof its dead.
We need more engaging things to do in all the zones we already have, not new zones, USE WHAT YOU HAVE! Take the warfront idea from BFA and turn them into event areas in random places in all the areas we have, from Azeroth to Outlands. (shadowlands can disappear. lol)
We need rpvp/pvp servers back. END WAR MODE!

Remember those elemental attacks throughout the old world in DF pre-patch I think it was? That worked for wpvp.
But…we also had nothing else to do at the time.

I really miss world events like random OH CRAP STORMWIND IS UNDER ATTACK!
The whole zombie thing was amazing. I know people troll but world events are fun people group up and go out and do things.
They made DF like… Alextrasa saying now you better not fight and be all nice to each other!

Yeah, it’s not very motivating when they do things like that LOL. BfA did it better when it was all about Alliance vs. Horde.
As for the major cities? I could go to Org right now by myself and hang out there all night, and no one would bother me. Even if I kill lowbies to try and draw out the mains, doesn’t happen LOL.

I’ve been playing a bit of Classic Season of Discovery, and after playing the Ashenvale WPvP event, it made me a bit sad because examples like this proves Blizzard can make a really good WPvP event, I just wish they’d do the same for retail. I plan to make a thread regarding SoD’s Ashenvale and how I wish Blizzard could put in events like this for War Mode.

I really think world events, and not like something lame, but like warfront sized/attack at Lordaeron events that really draw in players, with good rewards/items that matter, not some lack luster waste of time. Like have the events lead up to a control of a section of the continent like Horde now controls the lower half of the Eastern Kingdoms which lets them do something cool or the Alliance has to push them out from Stormwind like a counter offensive! So much potential… sigh…

Back in early 2010, I had joined Warcraft in April of 2009, I made a number of comments in forums to keep PVP in PVP realms. This was prior to server merges and all the fallout we have experienced to date. I still hold strong to this belief and yes, you can call me anti-PvP if you like.
I agree and disagree with your initial points. I believe that those players who want to kill other players should stay on PvP only servers. I believe that players who enjoy quests, PvE objectives and doing their own thing should be left alone to enjoy the game without the threat of being stalked and killed by another player, or groups of them.
I have some solutions that could deter flagged players who crossed into a free-for-all area just to do a quest or buy a profession recipe but have to take the risk of getting gang slaughtered because they are in the wrong place.
If I am not in ‘Warmode’, you attack me and I don’t do a thing to counter attack you, then you get no honor points, at all. You should also suffer the cost of armor/gear repairs that I would get but are reflected back to your own toon. This would be identified as my nameplate being in a different color like purple because once a player is in Warmode or flagged, they turn up as an orange name plate, but should a PvE player wander into a PvP zone, they can have a different color meaning you take the risk of not getting anything for your efforts.
I recently went into Legion’s Dalaran Underbelly to do profession quests and hired a guard, but could see other PvP players hoping to attack me if they could. (lots of running around and getting in your way as you move to your target) It is just no fun to a player like me who wants to just play the game as a huge puzzle to solve. PvP is not for everyone and that is just the way it is.
I say bring back PvP servers and if you go Warmode, phase out of the PvE realm you are in so you can enjoy your point of view and we can enjoy ours.
you want pvp, then put warmode on. but you do not want, then keep off to prevent trouble. they cheated last time on pvp servers. it was meant to be off to refrain mean players. people will give up.
people had these problems with nasty players. that was not to be tolerated. please do not do that. it is really unfair. you want real battle, then go battlegrounds.
